AI je predmet sve učestalijih egzistencijalnih rasprava o prednostima, ali i mogućim rizicima primjene umjetne inteligencije i sintetičkih bića u svakodnevnom životu, uključujući i štrajk hollywoodskih scenarista i glumaca. Nekoć daleka budućnost iz klasičnih SF-ova postala je bliska i mnogi strahuju od apokaliptičnog “terminatorskog ” scenarija, pogubnog za ljudski rod.
“Kreator” (“The Creator”) kreće odatle i nadovezuje se na raspravu pokrivajući sve ključne primjerke AI-jevske znanstvene fantastike, kao što su “Odiseja u svemiru ”, “Istrebljivač ”, “Terminator ”, “RoboCop ”, “Terminator 2 ”, “Matrix ”, “Umjetna inteligencija ”, “Ona ”, “Duh u oklopu ”, “Blade Runner 2049 ”...
Čovječniji od ljudi
Distopijska priča u režiji talentiranog britanskog filmaša Garetha Edwardsa (“Godzilla ”, “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story ”) započinje snimkama u stilu filmskih žurnala na temu razvoja robotike i uporabe robota. Nekoliko dekada od danas roboti su postali sastavni dio naše svakodnevice, simulanti koji su “bladerunnerovskim” rječnikom “čovječniji od ljudi”, ali harmonija suživota nije bila dugog vijeka.

Ubrzo slijedi obavijest da se AI oteo kontroli i detonirao nuklearnu bojevu glavu u L.A.-u, izbrisavši ga s lica Zemlje u sceni koja podsjeća na uvod “Terminatora 3 ”. Umjetna inteligencija je nakon toga zabranjena u Americi i na Zapadu, a Amerikanci objavljuju rat protiv AI-ja.
Međutim, kako se azijske države, točnije “Republike Nove Azije”, ne odriču robota koji su potražili utočište na istoku i postali dio njihova identiteta, Amerika započinje masivni sukob (“Nismo u ratu s njima nego s AI koje izdržavaju”) i raspisuje lov na tvorca umjetne inteligencije, Nirmatu.
Za Nirmatom traga i Joshua (John David Washington , Denzelov sin i zvijezda “Teneta ”) koji se na “undercover” zadatku zaljubi u Azijatkinju Mayu (Gemma Chan ) i sa njom čeka dijete, ali ih gubi u napadu američke ratne letjelice Nomad, kao što je izgubio roditelje i brata u L.A.-u.
Kad pukovnica Howell (oskarovka Allison Janney ) javi Joshu da je Maya ipak živa i da će mu pomoći da je vrati ako ode na misiju potrage za AI “superoružjem”, stvorenim da okonča čovječanstvo, junak otkriva da je to “superoružje” sintetička klinka, mala simulantica koja kontrolira uređaje kao mini Jedi , a on je naziva Alfie (fenomenalna Madeleine Yuna Voyles ).

Odnos između i Alfie i Josha koji postaje surogat-otac srce je emotivnog, humanog, filozofskog i metaforičko-političkog filma o ljudima i strojevima, s nizom zanimljivih futurističkih detalja u tekstu ili slici (“Ne možete poraziti AI-jeve, to je evolucija”, “Donirajte svoj izgled, skenirajte se, podržite AI”).
“The Creator” je u tom smislu usporediv s izvrsnim “Distriktom 9 ” i Edwardsovim prvijencem “Monsters”, zamijene li se izvanzemaljci s robotima. “Ako nisi robot, kako si izrađen?”, Alfie pita Josha. Zahvaljujući njoj i još nekim simulantima, na robote ćete gledati drukčijim očima nakon “Kreatora” i njihovo stradavanje moglo bi vas štrecnuti.
’Dalaj-lamovski’ John Connor
Ima jedna scena pri početku filma kad Josh uvjerava kolegicu kako roboti “nisu ljudi”, no kad ugase jednoga on se glasa kao prava osoba, biće koje ne želi umrijeti, samo što je od metala, ne krvi i mesa. Cijeli “The Creator” je osovljen oko te scene i postavlja se kao SF sa srcem i mozgom iz jedne moguće budućnosti, nadahnut događajima iz bliže i dalje ljudske povijesti, ne samo filmovima.
Gledajući “Kreatora” s prizorima bombardiranja azijskih sela od strane tehnološki napredne američke vojne sile, teško je ne sjetiti se rata u Vijetnamu i čini se da je “Apokalipsa danas ” jedan od uzora Edwardsu (i “Avatar ” je na sličnoj metaforičkoj ravni), a na pamet može pasti i 11. rujna 2001., s kojim kao da korespondira napad na L.A. i sve ono što slijedi iza toga.

Edwards definitivno kritizira američki militarizam na globalnoj razini, što je prilično hrabar potez za redatelja “A” produkcijskog hollywoodskog blockbustera teškog 80 milijuna dolara. Hrabar je potez i da se jedan ovakav originalan film uopće snimio u “mainstream” produkciji budući da nije (pred)nastavak ili dio neke franšize.
Jesensku sezonu trebao je SF-ovski obilježiti nastavak “Dine ”, prolongiran za iduću godinu, ali “The Creator” se pokazuje kao dostojna zamjena i trebao bi Edwardsa gurnuti u višu ligu Jamesa Camerona, Denisa Villeneuvea i Christophera Nolana . Isprakticiran na “Godzilli” i “Rogue One”, Edwards je iznjedrio vizualno veoma spektakularan, epski komad tehnološkog blockbustera, s efektima impresivnijim od nekih dvostruko skupljih filmova.

Svaka scena s robotima (tu su i raznorazni prašnjavi droidi kao Edwardsova posveta “Ratovima zvijezda ”) iznimno je uvjerljiva i oni djeluju fizički opipljivo. Računalni i praktični efekti koegzistiraju u kadru, podcrtavajući Edwardsov apel za mirnom koegzistencijom ljudi i AI.
Iako započinje pesimistično u stilu prvog “Terminatora”, “Kreator” se s vremenom pozicionira između humanističkog “T2” i “Blade Runnera” u kojima kiborzi i replikanti nisu samo nositelji propasti čovječanstva, nego mogu biti i njegovi spasitelji, netko s više empatije prema čovjeku u odnosu na samog čovjeka. Alfie je svojevrsni “dalaj-lamovski” spoj malog Johna Connora i Roya Battyja, mesija AI populacije.

AI je predmet sve učestalijih egzistencijalnih rasprava o prednostima, ali i mogućim rizicima primjene umjetne inteligencije i sintetičkih bića u svakodnevnom životu, uključujući i štrajk hollywoodskih scenarista i glumaca. Nekoć daleka budućnost iz klasičnih SF-ova postala je bliska i mnogi strahuju od apokaliptičnog “terminatorskog ” scenarija, pogubnog za ljudski rod.
“Kreator” (“The Creator”) kreće odatle i nadovezuje se na raspravu pokrivajući sve ključne primjerke AI-jevske znanstvene fantastike, kao što su “Odiseja u svemiru ”, “Istrebljivač ”, “Terminator ”, “RoboCop ”, “Terminator 2 ”, “Matrix ”, “Umjetna inteligencija ”, “Ona ”, “Duh u oklopu ”, “Blade Runner 2049 ”...
Čovječniji od ljudi
Distopijska priča u režiji talentiranog britanskog filmaša Garetha Edwardsa (“Godzilla ”, “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story ”) započinje snimkama u stilu filmskih žurnala na temu razvoja robotike i uporabe robota. Nekoliko dekada od danas roboti su postali sastavni dio naše svakodnevice, simulanti koji su “bladerunnerovskim” rječnikom “čovječniji od ljudi”, ali harmonija suživota nije bila dugog vijeka.

Ubrzo slijedi obavijest da se AI oteo kontroli i detonirao nuklearnu bojevu glavu u L.A.-u, izbrisavši ga s lica Zemlje u sceni koja podsjeća na uvod “Terminatora 3 ”. Umjetna inteligencija je nakon toga zabranjena u Americi i na Zapadu, a Amerikanci objavljuju rat protiv AI-ja.
Međutim, kako se azijske države, točnije “Republike Nove Azije”, ne odriču robota koji su potražili utočište na istoku i postali dio njihova identiteta, Amerika započinje masivni sukob (“Nismo u ratu s njima nego s AI koje izdržavaju”) i raspisuje lov na tvorca umjetne inteligencije, Nirmatu.
Za Nirmatom traga i Joshua (John David Washington , Denzelov sin i zvijezda “Teneta ”) koji se na “undercover” zadatku zaljubi u Azijatkinju Mayu (Gemma Chan ) i sa njom čeka dijete, ali ih gubi u napadu američke ratne letjelice Nomad, kao što je izgubio roditelje i brata u L.A.-u.
Kad pukovnica Howell (oskarovka Allison Janney ) javi Joshu da je Maya ipak živa i da će mu pomoći da je vrati ako ode na misiju potrage za AI “superoružjem”, stvorenim da okonča čovječanstvo, junak otkriva da je to “superoružje” sintetička klinka, mala simulantica koja kontrolira uređaje kao mini Jedi , a on je naziva Alfie (fenomenalna Madeleine Yuna Voyles ).

Odnos između i Alfie i Josha koji postaje surogat-otac srce je emotivnog, humanog, filozofskog i metaforičko-političkog filma o ljudima i strojevima, s nizom zanimljivih futurističkih detalja u tekstu ili slici (“Ne možete poraziti AI-jeve, to je evolucija”, “Donirajte svoj izgled, skenirajte se, podržite AI”).
“The Creator” je u tom smislu usporediv s izvrsnim “Distriktom 9 ” i Edwardsovim prvijencem “Monsters”, zamijene li se izvanzemaljci s robotima. “Ako nisi robot, kako si izrađen?”, Alfie pita Josha. Zahvaljujući njoj i još nekim simulantima, na robote ćete gledati drukčijim očima nakon “Kreatora” i njihovo stradavanje moglo bi vas štrecnuti.
’Dalaj-lamovski’ John Connor
Ima jedna scena pri početku filma kad Josh uvjerava kolegicu kako roboti “nisu ljudi”, no kad ugase jednoga on se glasa kao prava osoba, biće koje ne želi umrijeti, samo što je od metala, ne krvi i mesa. Cijeli “The Creator” je osovljen oko te scene i postavlja se kao SF sa srcem i mozgom iz jedne moguće budućnosti, nadahnut događajima iz bliže i dalje ljudske povijesti, ne samo filmovima.
Gledajući “Kreatora” s prizorima bombardiranja azijskih sela od strane tehnološki napredne američke vojne sile, teško je ne sjetiti se rata u Vijetnamu i čini se da je “Apokalipsa danas ” jedan od uzora Edwardsu (i “Avatar ” je na sličnoj metaforičkoj ravni), a na pamet može pasti i 11. rujna 2001., s kojim kao da korespondira napad na L.A. i sve ono što slijedi iza toga.

Edwards definitivno kritizira američki militarizam na globalnoj razini, što je prilično hrabar potez za redatelja “A” produkcijskog hollywoodskog blockbustera teškog 80 milijuna dolara. Hrabar je potez i da se jedan ovakav originalan film uopće snimio u “mainstream” produkciji budući da nije (pred)nastavak ili dio neke franšize.
Jesensku sezonu trebao je SF-ovski obilježiti nastavak “Dine ”, prolongiran za iduću godinu, ali “The Creator” se pokazuje kao dostojna zamjena i trebao bi Edwardsa gurnuti u višu ligu Jamesa Camerona, Denisa Villeneuvea i Christophera Nolana . Isprakticiran na “Godzilli” i “Rogue One”, Edwards je iznjedrio vizualno veoma spektakularan, epski komad tehnološkog blockbustera, s efektima impresivnijim od nekih dvostruko skupljih filmova.

Svaka scena s robotima (tu su i raznorazni prašnjavi droidi kao Edwardsova posveta “Ratovima zvijezda ”) iznimno je uvjerljiva i oni djeluju fizički opipljivo. Računalni i praktični efekti koegzistiraju u kadru, podcrtavajući Edwardsov apel za mirnom koegzistencijom ljudi i AI.
Iako započinje pesimistično u stilu prvog “Terminatora”, “Kreator” se s vremenom pozicionira između humanističkog “T2” i “Blade Runnera” u kojima kiborzi i replikanti nisu samo nositelji propasti čovječanstva, nego mogu biti i njegovi spasitelji, netko s više empatije prema čovjeku u odnosu na samog čovjeka. Alfie je svojevrsni “dalaj-lamovski” spoj malog Johna Connora i Roya Battyja, mesija AI populacije.
