Ugasila se posljednja zvijezda "zlatnog doba" Hollywooda – Olivia de Havilland. Dvostruka oskarovka, veteranka kinematografije i zvijezda klasika "Prohujalo s vihorom" nadživjela je čak i Kirka Douglasa. De Havilland je proslavila 104. rođendan na samom početku srpnja. Čestitali smo Oliviji rođendan uz natpis "Neprohujala s vihorom".

Tada se činilo da bi, kako je krenula, mogla dogurati barem do 105. godine. Snimljena je, nema tome dugo, kako vozi biciklu. Rijetki (glumci) dožive i prekorače stotu, kamoli da bicikliraju pod superstare dane. Nažalost, vihor je došao po svoje niti mjesec dana nakon što je De Havilland ispuhala 104 svijeće na torti života.

No, Olivijine godine su za najveći respekt, kao i njezina karijera. Igrala je protivno pravilima i u životu i u poslu. Kako je De Havilland uspješno odolijevala starosti i smrti, tako nije dala na sebe u starom hollywoodskom studijskom sistemu koji je pomogla srušiti.

Sredinom četrdesetih godina prošlog stoljeća tužila je moćni studio Warner Bros pod čijim se sedmogodišnjim ugovorom nalazila i u međuvremenu odbila neke nametnute uloge za što je bila višestruko "suspendirana". Kad joj je ugovor istekao, Warner je nalagao da im duguje još šest mjeseci rada za studio, (u)računavši vrijeme koje je provela pod suspenzijom.

Tužba je bila presedan, a sudac je glumičinu situaciju nazvao "ropstvom" i presudio u njezinu korist. Nakon što je dobila tužbu, posredno je oslobodila sve glumce studijskih okova sve do dana današnjega i redefinirala filmaško-glumački biznis. Nije to bio jedini presedan koji je postigla – godine 1965. postala je prva žena u povijesti na čelu žirija Cannes Film Festivala.

Puno je postignuća stalo u Olivijine 104 godine, a treba pamtiti i ona glumačka. Karijera joj je možda "procvjetala" nakon tužbe, ali je cvjetala i ranije. Pažnju na sebe je skrenula 1935. ulogom u "Snu ivanjske noći". Uslijedio je 1935. nastup u punokrvnom avanturističkom spektaklu "Captain Blood".

Bio je to prvi od nekoliko filmova (romantična komedija "Four's a Crowd", vestern "Dodge City", 1939.) u kojima je glumila pored Errola Flynna i bila mu ravnopravna. Drugi su izvanredne "Pustolovine Robina Hooda" (1938.). Mnoge su glumice igrale lady Marian, uključujući i Cate Blanchett, ali upravo je De Havilland postavila temelje uloge djeve sa zarumenjenim obrazima koja može biti i filmska ljepotica i "obična" djevojka iz susjedstva, te ponijeti avanturistički film na svojim leđima ("That Lady", 1955.).

Zarumenjeni obrazi nisu se crvenili u crno-bijelim kadrovima filma "It's Love I'm After" (1937.), ali Olivia je bila odlična u romantičnoj "slapstick" komediji s Lesliejem Howardom i Bette Davis, kojoj je bila dostojna partnerica i u psihološkom hororu "Hush... Hush, Sweet Charlotte" (1964.).

U monumentalnog "Gone With The Wind" (1939.) bila je moralni centar filma, na korak do svetice. Mnogi njezinu Melanie Hamilton pamte jednako kao Scarlett O'Hara, premda je bila sporedni lik. Za tu ulogu zavrijedila je prvu nominaciju za Oscara od njih ukupno pet. Zlatne kipiće je osvojila za glavne uloge u romantičnim dramama "Svakom svoje" i "Nasljednica" (1946., 1950.).

Prefiks "romantični" krasio je mnoge njezine filmove, bilo drame i komedije. U okvirima romansom obojane lakonotne komedije ("The Strawberry Blonde", "Government Girl") i misteriozne drame ("Zaustavi zoru", "Rođakinja Rahela") De Havilland se najbolje snalazila.

Bajkovite romantične komedije su napose sjajno prianjale njezinom lijepom licu i sklonosti komici, kao "Princeza O’Rourke” (1943.), gdje je prije Audrey Hepburn igrala prikrivenu kraljevnu u kojoj se zaljubljuje muškarac neplave krvi. Pa ipak, bila je spremna i za hrabre iskorake u "noir" ("Tamno zrcalo") i vestern ("Ponosni pobunjenik"), kao i najteže glumačke zadatke ("Zmijsko leglo").

U filmu "Snake Pit" tumačila je naizgled šizofrenu ženu, Virginiju. To joj je ponajbolja uloga karijere, nagrađena na Veneciji, za koju joj je Oscara preotela Jane Wyman ("Johnny Belinda"). Akademija je godinu dana nadoknadila propust i dala joj drugog i posljednjeg Oscara za "The Heiress". Ima tu neke simbolike računajući posljednji kadar filma s Oliviom kako se penje stepenicama do "fade outa".

Ugasila se posljednja zvijezda "zlatnog doba" Hollywooda – Olivia de Havilland. Dvostruka oskarovka, veteranka kinematografije i zvijezda klasika "Prohujalo s vihorom" nadživjela je čak i Kirka Douglasa. De Havilland je proslavila 104. rođendan na samom početku srpnja. Čestitali smo Oliviji rođendan uz natpis "Neprohujala s vihorom".

Tada se činilo da bi, kako je krenula, mogla dogurati barem do 105. godine. Snimljena je, nema tome dugo, kako vozi biciklu. Rijetki (glumci) dožive i prekorače stotu, kamoli da bicikliraju pod superstare dane. Nažalost, vihor je došao po svoje niti mjesec dana nakon što je De Havilland ispuhala 104 svijeće na torti života.

No, Olivijine godine su za najveći respekt, kao i njezina karijera. Igrala je protivno pravilima i u životu i u poslu. Kako je De Havilland uspješno odolijevala starosti i smrti, tako nije dala na sebe u starom hollywoodskom studijskom sistemu koji je pomogla srušiti.

Sredinom četrdesetih godina prošlog stoljeća tužila je moćni studio Warner Bros pod čijim se sedmogodišnjim ugovorom nalazila i u međuvremenu odbila neke nametnute uloge za što je bila višestruko "suspendirana". Kad joj je ugovor istekao, Warner je nalagao da im duguje još šest mjeseci rada za studio, (u)računavši vrijeme koje je provela pod suspenzijom.

Tužba je bila presedan, a sudac je glumičinu situaciju nazvao "ropstvom" i presudio u njezinu korist. Nakon što je dobila tužbu, posredno je oslobodila sve glumce studijskih okova sve do dana današnjega i redefinirala filmaško-glumački biznis. Nije to bio jedini presedan koji je postigla – godine 1965. postala je prva žena u povijesti na čelu žirija Cannes Film Festivala.

Puno je postignuća stalo u Olivijine 104 godine, a treba pamtiti i ona glumačka. Karijera joj je možda "procvjetala" nakon tužbe, ali je cvjetala i ranije. Pažnju na sebe je skrenula 1935. ulogom u "Snu ivanjske noći". Uslijedio je 1935. nastup u punokrvnom avanturističkom spektaklu "Captain Blood".

Bio je to prvi od nekoliko filmova (romantična komedija "Four's a Crowd", vestern "Dodge City", 1939.) u kojima je glumila pored Errola Flynna i bila mu ravnopravna. Drugi su izvanredne "Pustolovine Robina Hooda" (1938.). Mnoge su glumice igrale lady Marian, uključujući i Cate Blanchett, ali upravo je De Havilland postavila temelje uloge djeve sa zarumenjenim obrazima koja može biti i filmska ljepotica i "obična" djevojka iz susjedstva, te ponijeti avanturistički film na svojim leđima ("That Lady", 1955.).

Zarumenjeni obrazi nisu se crvenili u crno-bijelim kadrovima filma "It's Love I'm After" (1937.), ali Olivia je bila odlična u romantičnoj "slapstick" komediji s Lesliejem Howardom i Bette Davis, kojoj je bila dostojna partnerica i u psihološkom hororu "Hush... Hush, Sweet Charlotte" (1964.).

U monumentalnog "Gone With The Wind" (1939.) bila je moralni centar filma, na korak do svetice. Mnogi njezinu Melanie Hamilton pamte jednako kao Scarlett O'Hara, premda je bila sporedni lik. Za tu ulogu zavrijedila je prvu nominaciju za Oscara od njih ukupno pet. Zlatne kipiće je osvojila za glavne uloge u romantičnim dramama "Svakom svoje" i "Nasljednica" (1946., 1950.).

Prefiks "romantični" krasio je mnoge njezine filmove, bilo drame i komedije. U okvirima romansom obojane lakonotne komedije ("The Strawberry Blonde", "Government Girl") i misteriozne drame ("Zaustavi zoru", "Rođakinja Rahela") De Havilland se najbolje snalazila.

Bajkovite romantične komedije su napose sjajno prianjale njezinom lijepom licu i sklonosti komici, kao "Princeza O’Rourke” (1943.), gdje je prije Audrey Hepburn igrala prikrivenu kraljevnu u kojoj se zaljubljuje muškarac neplave krvi. Pa ipak, bila je spremna i za hrabre iskorake u "noir" ("Tamno zrcalo") i vestern ("Ponosni pobunjenik"), kao i najteže glumačke zadatke ("Zmijsko leglo").

U filmu "Snake Pit" tumačila je naizgled šizofrenu ženu, Virginiju. To joj je ponajbolja uloga karijere, nagrađena na Veneciji, za koju joj je Oscara preotela Jane Wyman ("Johnny Belinda"). Akademija je godinu dana nadoknadila propust i dala joj drugog i posljednjeg Oscara za "The Heiress". Ima tu neke simbolike računajući posljednji kadar filma s Oliviom kako se penje stepenicama do "fade outa".
