Ne oporavi se svatko tako brzo kad ga Madonna izbaci iz svoga kreveta. Pitajte samo Seana Penna ili Warrena Beattyja. Međutim Guy Ritchie je to uspio napraviti u rekordnom roku. Nakon loših “Valova sudbine” i konfuzna “Revolvera”, Ritchie se u vlastitu gangstersku formu(lu) (“Lopovi, ubojice i dvije nabijene puške”, “Zdrpi i briši”) vratio “RocknRollom”. Postoji jedan vrlo zanimljiv metafilmski dijalog u prvoj trećini “RocknRolle“.

Sitni kriminalac Gerard Butler nalazi se s fatalnom ženom i ljubiteljicom umjetnina Thandie Newton u nekoj art-galeriji u vezi dogovora za jedan poslić koji će, ispočetka, izgledati kao najlakši na svijetu, a onda se pretvoriti u “loš dan u Bosni“ (“Lopovi, ubojice i dvije nabijene puške“). Butler u jednom trenutku ispali bazu kako bi je impresionirao, a Newtonica ga ošine riječima “Tamo odakle ti dolaziš... to zovu humorom?!“.

Ni on nije ostao dužan. “A odakle ti dolaziš... to, kao, zovu umjetnošću?!“, spremno ju je poklopio. Humor. Umjetnost. Mnogi su kritičari Ritchieju priznavali prvo, a spočitavali potonje. Spočitavali su mu da se, kao, previše fura na postmodernu spiku i sliku koju je etabilirao Quentin Tarantino, prozvavši ga njegovom (drugorazrednom) britanskom verzijom.

Istina, Ritchie je nedvojbeno još uvijek pod utjecajem Tarantina i u “RocknRolli“. Dovoljno je, eto, vidjeti ples Butlera i Newtonice, otkačen kakav je bio onaj Johna Travolte i Ume Thurman u “Paklenom šundu“, ili, pak, seriju podzapleta, uključujući sliku ruskog mafijaša koju nikad ne uspijevamo vidjeti, kao ni sadržaj kofera u spomenutom filmu.

No, “RocknRolla” je samo naizgled “refleksna reakcija” na tarantinovštinu i vlastite prethodnike. Ritchie i ovdje razne kolaže utjecaja, evidentne u labirintima nepravolinijskih zavjera, montažnih vratolomija i privlačnih nota u podlozi, pokušava sastaviti u jedinstvenu autorsku cjelinu s nizom cool(t) scena (ponajprije onaj suludi seks na brzaka i bijeg od neuništivih ruskih “terminatora“). I uspijeva.

“RocknRolla“ je izvrstan celuloidni esej napisan u slavu mitologije britanskog gangsterskog filma. Njegove prošlosti, sadašnjosti i budućnosti.

Ne oporavi se svatko tako brzo kad ga Madonna izbaci iz svoga kreveta. Pitajte samo Seana Penna ili Warrena Beattyja. Međutim Guy Ritchie je to uspio napraviti u rekordnom roku. Nakon loših “Valova sudbine” i konfuzna “Revolvera”, Ritchie se u vlastitu gangstersku formu(lu) (“Lopovi, ubojice i dvije nabijene puške”, “Zdrpi i briši”) vratio “RocknRollom”. Postoji jedan vrlo zanimljiv metafilmski dijalog u prvoj trećini “RocknRolle“.

Sitni kriminalac Gerard Butler nalazi se s fatalnom ženom i ljubiteljicom umjetnina Thandie Newton u nekoj art-galeriji u vezi dogovora za jedan poslić koji će, ispočetka, izgledati kao najlakši na svijetu, a onda se pretvoriti u “loš dan u Bosni“ (“Lopovi, ubojice i dvije nabijene puške“). Butler u jednom trenutku ispali bazu kako bi je impresionirao, a Newtonica ga ošine riječima “Tamo odakle ti dolaziš... to zovu humorom?!“.

Ni on nije ostao dužan. “A odakle ti dolaziš... to, kao, zovu umjetnošću?!“, spremno ju je poklopio. Humor. Umjetnost. Mnogi su kritičari Ritchieju priznavali prvo, a spočitavali potonje. Spočitavali su mu da se, kao, previše fura na postmodernu spiku i sliku koju je etabilirao Quentin Tarantino, prozvavši ga njegovom (drugorazrednom) britanskom verzijom.

Istina, Ritchie je nedvojbeno još uvijek pod utjecajem Tarantina i u “RocknRolli“. Dovoljno je, eto, vidjeti ples Butlera i Newtonice, otkačen kakav je bio onaj Johna Travolte i Ume Thurman u “Paklenom šundu“, ili, pak, seriju podzapleta, uključujući sliku ruskog mafijaša koju nikad ne uspijevamo vidjeti, kao ni sadržaj kofera u spomenutom filmu.

No, “RocknRolla” je samo naizgled “refleksna reakcija” na tarantinovštinu i vlastite prethodnike. Ritchie i ovdje razne kolaže utjecaja, evidentne u labirintima nepravolinijskih zavjera, montažnih vratolomija i privlačnih nota u podlozi, pokušava sastaviti u jedinstvenu autorsku cjelinu s nizom cool(t) scena (ponajprije onaj suludi seks na brzaka i bijeg od neuništivih ruskih “terminatora“). I uspijeva.

“RocknRolla“ je izvrstan celuloidni esej napisan u slavu mitologije britanskog gangsterskog filma. Njegove prošlosti, sadašnjosti i budućnosti.
