Indija je u petak izvijestila o još jednom rekordnom dnevnom porastu slučajeva koronavirusa, s ukupno novih 1,57 milijuna zaraženih od ponedjeljka, dok stopa cijepljenja u zemlji dramatično pada zbog nedostatka cjepiva i problema s prijevozom.

Kako se smrtonosni drugi val covida-19 u Indiji nastavlja nesmetano, ukupno je 21,49 milijuna slučajeva, a zaraze se šire iz prenapučenih gradova u udaljena ruralna područja u kojima živi gotovo 70 posto od 1,3 milijarde stanovnika.

Zemlja je u petak izvijestila o rekordnih 414.188 novozaraženih, dok je smrtnost od covida-19 porasla za 3.915, čime se broj umrlih povećao na 234.083 ljudi.

Medicinski stručnjaci kažu da je stvarni opseg zaraženih covidom-19 u Indiji 5 do 10 puta veći od službenog.

Premijer Narendra Modi često je kritiziran zbog toga što nije prije počeo suzbijati drugi val, nakon što su posljednjih tjedana na vjerskim festivalima i političkim skupovima sudjelovali deseci tisuća ljudi.

Festivali i politički skupovi bili su "događaji super širenja" zaraze.

Cijepljenje jedina nada, a nema ga dovoljno

Modijeva vlada kritizirana je i zbog kašnjenja u programu cijepljenja u zemlji, za koji medicinski stručnjaci kažu da je jedina nada Indije da kontrolira drugi val covida-19.

List Hindustan Times u petak je uputio zahtjev: "Ubrzajte proizvodnju cjepiva, stavite drugi val pandemije pod kontrolu".

Iako je Indija najveći svjetski proizvođač cjepiva, bori se da proizvede dovoljno doza da zaustavi val covida-19.

Modi je naglasio da indijske države moraju nastaviti povećavati stopu cijepljenja. Iako je zemlja primijenila najmanje 157 milijuna doza cjepiva, stopa inokulacije zadnjih je dana naglo pala.

"Nakon što smo postigli stopu od oko 4 milijuna dnevno, sada padamo na 2,5 milijuna dnevno zbog nestašice cjepiva", rekao je za list Mint Amartya Lahiri, profesor ekonomije sa Sveučilišta Britanske Kolumbije.

"Cilj od 5 milijuna dnevno donja je granica onoga čemu moramo težiti, jer čak i pri toj stopi trebat će nam godina da svi dobiju obje doze cjepiva. Situacija je nažalost vrlo mračna", upozorio je Lahiri.

Iako sjeverna i zapadna Indija nose najveći teret bolesti, udio pet južnih država u dnevnom porastu zaraza u zemlji porastao je s 28 posto na 33 posto u prvih sedam dana svibnja, pokazuju podaci.

Udarac snu o modernoj, naprednoj Indiji

U gradu Chennaiju na jugu zemlje, u četvrtak je bilo slobodan samo jedan od stotinu kreveta s potporom za kisik i dva od stotinu kreveta na odjelima za intenzivnu njegu, sa stope slobodnih mjesta od preko 20 posto prije dva tjedna, pokazuju vladini podaci.

Sveprisutne autorikše na tri kotača u New Delhiju postale su improvizirana kola hitne pomoći za prijevoz pacijenata s covidom-19.

"Svi se moramo međusobno pomagati u ovom trenutku nužnosti izlaska iz ove situacije", rekao je vozač autorikše Raj Kumar, koji nosi zaštitno odijelo. Između njega i putnika straga je plastična pregrada.

"Ako svi ostanu kod kuće jer se boje, tko će onda pomoći onima koji su u nevolji?", dodao je.

Nekoliko indijskih država uvelo je različite razine ograničenja kako bi se pokušala zaustaviti zaraza, ali savezna vlada ne želi uvesti nacionalno zatvaranje.

"U ovakvim trenucima ljudi traže neki znak da političari slušaju... ovo što se danas događa je izdaja nade i udarac snu o modernoj naprednoj Indiji", ustvrdio je kolumnist Vir Sanghvi u listu Hindustan Times.

"Na kraju ćemo pobijediti covid. Ali do tada će još tisuće izgubiti život", zaključio je.

Indija je u petak izvijestila o još jednom rekordnom dnevnom porastu slučajeva koronavirusa, s ukupno novih 1,57 milijuna zaraženih od ponedjeljka, dok stopa cijepljenja u zemlji dramatično pada zbog nedostatka cjepiva i problema s prijevozom.

Kako se smrtonosni drugi val covida-19 u Indiji nastavlja nesmetano, ukupno je 21,49 milijuna slučajeva, a zaraze se šire iz prenapučenih gradova u udaljena ruralna područja u kojima živi gotovo 70 posto od 1,3 milijarde stanovnika.

Zemlja je u petak izvijestila o rekordnih 414.188 novozaraženih, dok je smrtnost od covida-19 porasla za 3.915, čime se broj umrlih povećao na 234.083 ljudi.

Medicinski stručnjaci kažu da je stvarni opseg zaraženih covidom-19 u Indiji 5 do 10 puta veći od službenog.

Premijer Narendra Modi često je kritiziran zbog toga što nije prije počeo suzbijati drugi val, nakon što su posljednjih tjedana na vjerskim festivalima i političkim skupovima sudjelovali deseci tisuća ljudi.

Festivali i politički skupovi bili su "događaji super širenja" zaraze.

Cijepljenje jedina nada, a nema ga dovoljno

Modijeva vlada kritizirana je i zbog kašnjenja u programu cijepljenja u zemlji, za koji medicinski stručnjaci kažu da je jedina nada Indije da kontrolira drugi val covida-19.

List Hindustan Times u petak je uputio zahtjev: "Ubrzajte proizvodnju cjepiva, stavite drugi val pandemije pod kontrolu".

Iako je Indija najveći svjetski proizvođač cjepiva, bori se da proizvede dovoljno doza da zaustavi val covida-19.

Modi je naglasio da indijske države moraju nastaviti povećavati stopu cijepljenja. Iako je zemlja primijenila najmanje 157 milijuna doza cjepiva, stopa inokulacije zadnjih je dana naglo pala.

"Nakon što smo postigli stopu od oko 4 milijuna dnevno, sada padamo na 2,5 milijuna dnevno zbog nestašice cjepiva", rekao je za list Mint Amartya Lahiri, profesor ekonomije sa Sveučilišta Britanske Kolumbije.

"Cilj od 5 milijuna dnevno donja je granica onoga čemu moramo težiti, jer čak i pri toj stopi trebat će nam godina da svi dobiju obje doze cjepiva. Situacija je nažalost vrlo mračna", upozorio je Lahiri.

Iako sjeverna i zapadna Indija nose najveći teret bolesti, udio pet južnih država u dnevnom porastu zaraza u zemlji porastao je s 28 posto na 33 posto u prvih sedam dana svibnja, pokazuju podaci.

Udarac snu o modernoj, naprednoj Indiji

U gradu Chennaiju na jugu zemlje, u četvrtak je bilo slobodan samo jedan od stotinu kreveta s potporom za kisik i dva od stotinu kreveta na odjelima za intenzivnu njegu, sa stope slobodnih mjesta od preko 20 posto prije dva tjedna, pokazuju vladini podaci.

Sveprisutne autorikše na tri kotača u New Delhiju postale su improvizirana kola hitne pomoći za prijevoz pacijenata s covidom-19.

"Svi se moramo međusobno pomagati u ovom trenutku nužnosti izlaska iz ove situacije", rekao je vozač autorikše Raj Kumar, koji nosi zaštitno odijelo. Između njega i putnika straga je plastična pregrada.

"Ako svi ostanu kod kuće jer se boje, tko će onda pomoći onima koji su u nevolji?", dodao je.

Nekoliko indijskih država uvelo je različite razine ograničenja kako bi se pokušala zaustaviti zaraza, ali savezna vlada ne želi uvesti nacionalno zatvaranje.

"U ovakvim trenucima ljudi traže neki znak da političari slušaju... ovo što se danas događa je izdaja nade i udarac snu o modernoj naprednoj Indiji", ustvrdio je kolumnist Vir Sanghvi u listu Hindustan Times.

"Na kraju ćemo pobijediti covid. Ali do tada će još tisuće izgubiti život", zaključio je.

Indija je u petak izvijestila o još jednom rekordnom dnevnom porastu slučajeva koronavirusa, s ukupno novih 1,57 milijuna zaraženih od ponedjeljka, dok stopa cijepljenja u zemlji dramatično pada zbog nedostatka cjepiva i problema s prijevozom.

Kako se smrtonosni drugi val covida-19 u Indiji nastavlja nesmetano, ukupno je 21,49 milijuna slučajeva, a zaraze se šire iz prenapučenih gradova u udaljena ruralna područja u kojima živi gotovo 70 posto od 1,3 milijarde stanovnika.

Zemlja je u petak izvijestila o rekordnih 414.188 novozaraženih, dok je smrtnost od covida-19 porasla za 3.915, čime se broj umrlih povećao na 234.083 ljudi.

Medicinski stručnjaci kažu da je stvarni opseg zaraženih covidom-19 u Indiji 5 do 10 puta veći od službenog.
