Prije godinu dana zabio je 15, a bundesligašku sezonu sezonu 2013/14 završio je s 18 postignutih golova. Usprkos tomu, često se medijski nagađa da je Mandžukić na izlaznim vratima Bayerna i da bi u ljetnom prijelaznom roku mogao napustiti klub. Tiskano izdanje njemačkog dvotjednika Kickera objašnjava zašto je tome tako.

"Od početka sezone Mandžukić je imao veliki hendikep: Trener Pep Guardiola ne preferira centralne napadače Mandžukićevog tipa, nego male, agilne profile igrača, takozvane "lažne devetke". S vremenom, međutim, ni Guardiola nije mogao bez usluga Hrvata. Mandžukić u napadu često je prvi branič momčadi koji napada suparnike i čini im štetu svojim robusnim stilom, guta kilometre i najvažnije, zabija golove. Igrač je koji je snažan u kaznenom prostoru, posebice na visokim loptama. Stoga ga je Guardiola tijekom sezone označio kao igrača "koji najbolje na svijetu igra glavom...", piše Kicker.

Španjolski je trener kasnije izjavio kako nikad nije vidio takvog igrača i da ga voli, ali ga je svejedno u jednoj fazi sezone izbacio momčadi, otprilike u fazi kada je Bayern osigurao usluge Roberta Lewandowskog od ljeta.

"Mandžukića sada čeka sudbina drugih Bayernovih napadača. Elber, Makaay, Toni, Gomez. Svi su oni dolaskom novih konkurenata s vremenom napustili momčad. Dobro u Bayernu nije uvijek i dovoljno dobro", zaključuje Kickerov novinar Frank Linkesch.

Tiskano izdanje njemačkog dvotjednika Kickera objašnjava zašto je tome tako.

"Od početka sezone Mandžukić je imao veliki hendikep: Trener Pep Guardiola ne preferira centralne napadače Mandžukićevog tipa, nego male, agilne profile igrača, takozvane "lažne devetke". S vremenom, međutim, ni Guardiola nije mogao bez usluga Hrvata. Mandžukić u napadu često je prvi branič momčadi koji napada suparnike i čini im štetu svojim robusnim stilom, guta kilometre i najvažnije, zabija golove. Igrač je koji je snažan u kaznenom prostoru, posebice na visokim loptama. Stoga ga je Guardiola tijekom sezone označio kao igrača "koji najbolje na svijetu igra glavom...", piše Kicker.

Španjolski je trener kasnije izjavio kako nikad nije vidio takvog igrača i da ga voli, ali ga je svejedno u jednoj fazi sezone izbacio momčadi, otprilike u fazi kada je Bayern osigurao usluge Roberta Lewandowskog od ljeta.

"Mandžukića sada čeka sudbina drugih Bayernovih napadača. Elber, Makaay, Toni, Gomez. Svi su oni dolaskom novih konkurenata s vremenom napustili momčad. Dobro u Bayernu nije uvijek i dovoljno dobro", zaključuje Kickerov novinar Frank Linkesch.
