Prvi gradonačelnik Londona bio je Ken Livingstone koji je na funkciju izabran 4. svibnja 2000. godine. Pod njegovom nadležnosti nalazi se oko osam i pol milijuna ljudi, a bira ga se izravnim glasovanjem. S obzirom na dugu povijest grada postavlja se pitanje kako je London prvi put dobio 'Mayora' tek prije 21 godinu?

Još od srednjeg vijeka London je imao gradonačelnika koji postoji i danas, ali vlast tzv. 'Lord Mayor of London' pokriva samo usko središte, tj. centar grada. U City of Londonu živi samo manji dio stanovnika metropole zbog čega je 1998. na referendumu donesene odluka da se uvede još jedna funkcija. Mayor od London tako danas upravlja cijelim gradom s milijunima njegovih stanovnika.

Riječ je o vrlo moćnoj poziciji, koju se smatra drugom po važnosti u zemlji odmah nakon premijerske zbog iznimne financijske i kulturne uloge koju ima London. Ured gradonačelnika nalazi se u Gradskoj vijećnici izgrađenoj u 21. stoljeću uz rijeku Temzu nasuprot Toweru i u neposrednoj blizini znamenitog Tower Bridgea. Vijećnicu je projektirao jedan od najvažnijih suvremenih arhitekata, nagrađivani Norman Foster.

Ken Livingstone osvojio je izbore kao nezavisni kandidat, a po drugi mandat je došao kao kandidat Laburističke stranke. 2008. godine pobijedio ga je konzervativac Boris Johnsson koji je naknadno došao i na mjesto premijera dok Londonom od 2016. do danas upravlja laburist Sadiq Khan, tek treći gradonačelnik prijestolnice Velike Britanije.

Prvi gradonačelnik Londona bio je Ken Livingstone koji je na funkciju izabran 4. svibnja 2000. godine. Pod njegovom nadležnosti nalazi se oko osam i pol milijuna ljudi, a bira ga se izravnim glasovanjem. S obzirom na dugu povijest grada postavlja se pitanje kako je London prvi put dobio 'Mayora' tek prije 21 godinu?

Još od srednjeg vijeka London je imao gradonačelnika koji postoji i danas, ali vlast tzv. 'Lord Mayor of London' pokriva samo usko središte, tj. centar grada. U City of Londonu živi samo manji dio stanovnika metropole zbog čega je 1998. na referendumu donesene odluka da se uvede još jedna funkcija. Mayor od London tako danas upravlja cijelim gradom s milijunima njegovih stanovnika.

Riječ je o vrlo moćnoj poziciji, koju se smatra drugom po važnosti u zemlji odmah nakon premijerske zbog iznimne financijske i kulturne uloge koju ima London. Ured gradonačelnika nalazi se u Gradskoj vijećnici izgrađenoj u 21. stoljeću uz rijeku Temzu nasuprot Toweru i u neposrednoj blizini znamenitog Tower Bridgea. Vijećnicu je projektirao jedan od najvažnijih suvremenih arhitekata, nagrađivani Norman Foster.

Ken Livingstone osvojio je izbore kao nezavisni kandidat, a po drugi mandat je došao kao kandidat Laburističke stranke. 2008. godine pobijedio ga je konzervativac Boris Johnsson koji je naknadno došao i na mjesto premijera dok Londonom od 2016. do danas upravlja laburist Sadiq Khan, tek treći gradonačelnik prijestolnice Velike Britanije.

Na današnji dan, prvi put je izabran gradonačelnik Londona i to tek 2000. godine

Prvi gradonačelnik Londona bio je Ken Livingstone koji je na funkciju izabran 4. svibnja 2000. godine. Pod njegovom nadležnosti nalazi se oko osam i pol milijuna ljudi, a bira ga se izravnim glasovanjem. S obzirom na dugu povijest grada postavlja se pitanje kako je London prvi put dobio 'Mayora' tek prije 21 godinu?

Još od srednjeg vijeka London je imao gradonačelnika koji postoji i danas, ali vlast tzv. 'Lord Mayor of London' pokriva samo usko središte, tj. centar grada. U City of Londonu živi samo manji dio stanovnika metropole zbog čega je 1998. na referendumu donesene odluka da se uvede još jedna funkcija. Mayor od London tako danas upravlja cijelim gradom s milijunima njegovih stanovnika.
