Zabavimo se. Ne snimamo dokumentarac. Snimamo triler... Izjava je to redatelja filma "Opsada u Silvertonu" ("Silverton Siege"), snimljenog prema senzacionalnoj istinitoj priči iz mračne aparthejdske povijesti Južnoafričke Republike 1980. godine.

Redatelj, Mandla Dune, nije tipovao na potpunu točnost i uzeo je određene slobode, veće od pukog mijenjanja imena aktera napete talačke situacije u južnoafričkoj banci. Borci protiv aparthejda iz Pokreta za oslobođenje Humphrey Makhubo, Fanie Mafoko i Wilfred Madela postali su Calvin Khumalo (Thabo Rametsi), Aldo Erasmus (Stefan Erasmus) i Mbali Terra Mabunda (Noxolo Dlamini).

Glavni likovi "Opsade u Silvertonu" su, dakle, dva tamnoputa muškarca i jedna žena, dok su u stvarnosti sva trojica bili muškarci. "Silverton Siege" izmišlja i jednu albino crnkinju, Rachel Paige (Michelle Mosalakae), te dobrog, rasom neopterećenog bijelog policajca Johana Langermana (Arnold Vosloo kao najpoznatije ime u glumačkoj ekipi; "Teška meta", "Mumija") naspram njegovu oficiru, zločestom policijskom rasistu Hansu (Justin Strydom).

Konačno, tu je i filmski "twist" o "undercover" policajcu u redovima boraca protiv aparthejda u stilu Tarantinovih "Pasa iz rezervoara", a i teško da je bijela kći ministra pravosuđa bila jedan od talaca, još teže da je imala liberalne, antiaparthejdske poglede.

Uzimanje pjesničke slobode često je u ekranizacijama istinitih priča, tako da perspektiva Dunea u "Opsadi u Silvertonu" ne čudi. Međutim, čudi da je u izjavi najavio zabavan film, što zvučno naslovljeni "Silverton Siege" definitivno nije, a i ne smije biti s obzirom na škakljivu temu iz zbilje.

Tko očekuje akcijski triler u stilu "Under Siege", promašio je adresu, premda se s politiziranim "The Siege" već može usporediti. Akcijske scene donose realističniju, dokudramsku akciju u kojoj auti ne eksplodiraju na dodir metaka itd. Dune njeguje pristup Josea Padilhe u "7 dana straha", pokušavajući voziti slalom između talačkog trilera, dokudrame i političkog filma, ali u tome uspijeva samo na mahove.

Uvod svakako sugerira uspjeliji film dok najavljuje talačku situaciju u banci. "Svi na pod, ne budite junaci!" viče jedan od boraca za slobodu kad njih troje uleti u banku s oružjem u rukama. Potom slijedi kratki opis političke situacije u Južnoafričkoj Republici, zemlji s "najnejednakijim društvom na svijetu".

"Režim bijele manjine ostavio nam samo jednu opciju – nasilje", čujemo i pratimo Calvina, Alda i Mbali za vrijeme jedne sabotaže koja polazi naopako i opkoljena trojka sklanja se u banku. Međutim, "ovo nije pljačka banke", nego talačka situacija s nekih 25 talaca u rukama boraca za slobodu, odnosno teroristima u očima policije.

Njima nije do novca; naprotiv, Calvin će naložiti jednom od talaca da ga spale ispred banke, gdje on povremeno izlazi da uzvikne "Vlast narodu!" i pregovara s Langermanom, koji želi sve riješiti "mirno i brzo" jer "inače će završiti loše". "Što želiš?" Langerman pita Calvina. "Slobodu. Želimo da oslobodite Nelsona Mandelu i odbacite sve optužbe", govori Calvin, koji je zauzvrat spreman pustiti taoce i predati se.

Zahtjev je nemoguća misija jer policija smatra Mandelu "najgorim teroristom", stoga Langerman mora kupovati vrijeme dok su policajci sve nervozniji na okidaču. I Dune kao da kupuje vrijeme, oslanjajući se previše na žanrovske klišeje i repetitivnu, rutinsku egzekuciju povijesno utemeljenih zbivanja s tek povremenim proplamsajima nadahnute režije.

"Opsada u Silvertonu" nastala je prema istinitoj priči, ali djeluje kao još jedan u nizu talačkih trilera i ne donosi ništa novo/neviđeno u žanr kojim caruje "Pasje popodne" i u posljednje je vrijeme opet aktualan ("Hotel Mumbai", "Kuća od papira", "Stockholmski sindrom").

Još veći problem od toga jest što ovaj vrlo gledljiv, no prosječan film ne zateže tenzije tijekom interakcije boraca protiv aparthejda, policije i talaca, a ni likovi nisu profilirani da bi nam do njih bilo posebno stalo. Iako, razumijemo njihovu motivaciju i poštujemo redateljevu odluku da ih u završnici prikaže kao mitske filmske antijunake. Calvin i Mbali postaju svojevrsni antiaparthejdski Butch Cassidy i Sundance Kid.

Sloboda za Mandelu

Natpis na kraju filma ističe da je ovaj događaj pokrenuo budući pokret za oslobođenje mandele koji je na koncu i oslobođen 1990.

Zabavimo se. Ne snimamo dokumentarac. Snimamo triler... Izjava je to redatelja filma "Opsada u Silvertonu" ("Silverton Siege"), snimljenog prema senzacionalnoj istinitoj priči iz mračne aparthejdske povijesti Južnoafričke Republike 1980. godine.

Redatelj, Mandla Dune, nije tipovao na potpunu točnost i uzeo je određene slobode, veće od pukog mijenjanja imena aktera napete talačke situacije u južnoafričkoj banci. Borci protiv aparthejda iz Pokreta za oslobođenje Humphrey Makhubo, Fanie Mafoko i Wilfred Madela postali su Calvin Khumalo (Thabo Rametsi), Aldo Erasmus (Stefan Erasmus) i Mbali Terra Mabunda (Noxolo Dlamini).

Glavni likovi "Opsade u Silvertonu" su, dakle, dva tamnoputa muškarca i jedna žena, dok su u stvarnosti sva trojica bili muškarci. "Silverton Siege" izmišlja i jednu albino crnkinju, Rachel Paige (Michelle Mosalakae), te dobrog, rasom neopterećenog bijelog policajca Johana Langermana (Arnold Vosloo kao najpoznatije ime u glumačkoj ekipi; "Teška meta", "Mumija") naspram njegovu oficiru, zločestom policijskom rasistu Hansu (Justin Strydom).

Konačno, tu je i filmski "twist" o "undercover" policajcu u redovima boraca protiv aparthejda u stilu Tarantinovih "Pasa iz rezervoara", a i teško da je bijela kći ministra pravosuđa bila jedan od talaca, još teže da je imala liberalne, antiaparthejdske poglede.

Uzimanje pjesničke slobode često je u ekranizacijama istinitih priča, tako da perspektiva Dunea u "Opsadi u Silvertonu" ne čudi. Međutim, čudi da je u izjavi najavio zabavan film, što zvučno naslovljeni "Silverton Siege" definitivno nije, a i ne smije biti s obzirom na škakljivu temu iz zbilje.

Tko očekuje akcijski triler u stilu "Under Siege", promašio je adresu, premda se s politiziranim "The Siege" već može usporediti. Akcijske scene donose realističniju, dokudramsku akciju u kojoj auti ne eksplodiraju na dodir metaka itd. Dune njeguje pristup Josea Padilhe u "7 dana straha", pokušavajući voziti slalom između talačkog trilera, dokudrame i političkog filma, ali u tome uspijeva samo na mahove.

Uvod svakako sugerira uspjeliji film dok najavljuje talačku situaciju u banci. "Svi na pod, ne budite junaci!" viče jedan od boraca za slobodu kad njih troje uleti u banku s oružjem u rukama. Potom slijedi kratki opis političke situacije u Južnoafričkoj Republici, zemlji s "najnejednakijim društvom na svijetu".

"Režim bijele manjine ostavio nam samo jednu opciju – nasilje", čujemo i pratimo Calvina, Alda i Mbali za vrijeme jedne sabotaže koja polazi naopako i opkoljena trojka sklanja se u banku. Međutim, "ovo nije pljačka banke", nego talačka situacija s nekih 25 talaca u rukama boraca za slobodu, odnosno teroristima u očima policije.

Njima nije do novca; naprotiv, Calvin će naložiti jednom od talaca da ga spale ispred banke, gdje on povremeno izlazi da uzvikne "Vlast narodu!" i pregovara s Langermanom, koji želi sve riješiti "mirno i brzo" jer "inače će završiti loše". "Što želiš?" Langerman pita Calvina. "Slobodu. Želimo da oslobodite Nelsona Mandelu i odbacite sve optužbe", govori Calvin, koji je zauzvrat spreman pustiti taoce i predati se.

Zahtjev je nemoguća misija jer policija smatra Mandelu "najgorim teroristom", stoga Langerman mora kupovati vrijeme dok su policajci sve nervozniji na okidaču. I Dune kao da kupuje vrijeme, oslanjajući se previše na žanrovske klišeje i repetitivnu, rutinsku egzekuciju povijesno utemeljenih zbivanja s tek povremenim proplamsajima nadahnute režije.

"Opsada u Silvertonu" nastala je prema istinitoj priči, ali djeluje kao još jedan u nizu talačkih trilera i ne donosi ništa novo/neviđeno u žanr kojim caruje "Pasje popodne" i u posljednje je vrijeme opet aktualan ("Hotel Mumbai", "Kuća od papira", "Stockholmski sindrom").

Još veći problem od toga jest što ovaj vrlo gledljiv, no prosječan film ne zateže tenzije tijekom interakcije boraca protiv aparthejda, policije i talaca, a ni likovi nisu profilirani da bi nam do njih bilo posebno stalo. Iako, razumijemo njihovu motivaciju i poštujemo redateljevu odluku da ih u završnici prikaže kao mitske filmske antijunake. Calvin i Mbali postaju svojevrsni antiaparthejdski Butch Cassidy i Sundance Kid.

Natpis na kraju filma ističe da je ovaj događaj pokrenuo budući pokret za oslobođenje mandele koji je na koncu i oslobođen 1990.
