Iako ga često koristimo u negativnom kontekstu, kolesterol je vrlo važan spoj u biokemijskim procesima u organizmu.

Ova masna lipidna tvar prisutna u krvi potrebna nam je da bi tijelo normalno funkcioniralo, no prevelike količine uključuju kardiovaskularne rizike, koji su u populaciji izraženi u prilično velikom postotku. Smatra se da bi uredna vrijednost kolesterola trebala biti manja od 5 mmol/L.

Poznavanje karakteristika i posljedica kolesterola ključno je za održavanje cjelokupnog zdravlja i smanjenje rizika od ozbiljnih bolesti poput bolesti srca. Osim simptoma poput ubrzanog rada srca i bolova u vratu i potiljku, ovo su tri znaka visokog kolesterola koja bi se mogla pojaviti na vašim očima:

Ksantelazma

Arcus senilis

Arcus senilis rožnice također može biti znak visokog kolesterola, uglavnom kod osoba mlađih od 45 godina. Riječ je o stvaranju plavog, bijelog ili svjetlosivog prstena na rožnici oka.

Stanje može započeti na vrhu ili dnu rožnice, ali će s vremenom formirati puni prsten. Ovo stanje lako je uočljivo jer će krug imati jasno izražen oštar rub, a unutrašnjost će biti zamagljena. Iako stručnjaci povezuju ovu promjenu na očima s povišenim kolesterolom, arcus rožnice može biti i samo posljedica starenja.

Ipak, krvni nalaz pokazat će ako imate visoki kolesterol, a u tom slučaju pripisat će vam se lijekovi i prehrana, kao i program vježbanja za snižavanje kolesterola u krvi.

Ovo stanje također ne uzrokuje bol ni slabljenje vida, no do sada nije utvrđeno da bi smanjenim unosom masnoća moglo doći do povlačenja arcusa senilisa. Stoga, bolje spriječite ikakve promjene koje bi vam mogle stvarati nelagodu na očima.

Okluzija retinalne vene

Okluzija retinalne vene nastaje kao posljedica začepljenja krvnih žila koje hrane mrežnicu, što može dovesti do zamagljenog vida ili trajnog oštećenja, pa čak i gubitka vida.

Pojašnjeno; kod ovog stanja blokira se dotok krvi u mrežnicu, čime joj se ne pruža kisik pa ona ne može slati vizualne informacije u mozak. Ta blokada uzrokuje krvarenje i tada nastaju otekline. Osim gubitka vida, mogu se javiti i male crne točke ili linije u oku.

Uz visoki krvni tlak, podložne mogu biti osobe starije od 50 godina, kao i oni s bilo kojim tipom dijabetesa. Godišnji pregled očiju najbolji je način da osigurate zdravlje svoje mrežnice, a liječenje se provodi injekcijama i laserskom kirurgijom, prenosi Centar zdravlja.

Iako ga često koristimo u negativnom kontekstu, kolesterol je vrlo važan spoj u biokemijskim procesima u organizmu.

Ova masna lipidna tvar prisutna u krvi potrebna nam je da bi tijelo normalno funkcioniralo, no prevelike količine uključuju kardiovaskularne rizike, koji su u populaciji izraženi u prilično velikom postotku. Smatra se da bi uredna vrijednost kolesterola trebala biti manja od 5 mmol/L.

Poznavanje karakteristika i posljedica kolesterola ključno je za održavanje cjelokupnog zdravlja i smanjenje rizika od ozbiljnih bolesti poput bolesti srca. Osim simptoma poput ubrzanog rada srca i bolova u vratu i potiljku, ovo su tri znaka visokog kolesterola koja bi se mogla pojaviti na vašim očima:

Ksantelazma

Kad je riječ o najčešćim oblicima pokazatelja kolesterola, ksantelazma (lat. xanthelasma palpebrarum) se posebno ističe, piše Mirror. Riječ je o žućkastim tvorevinama na očnoj vjeđi, koje su zapravo naslage masti i kolesterola, a rezultat su nakupljanja kolesterola ispod kože.

Ove očne promjene mekane su na dodir i ne uzrokuju bol, ali se mogu s vremenom povećati i proširiti na više mjesta. Obično nije ozbiljno i uklanja se samo iz estetskih razloga, no jasan je znak upozorenja da biste trebali pripaziti na svoju prehranu i način života. Izbjegavajte pušenje, ograničite konzumaciju alkohola, smanjite unos zasićenih masti i koristite, u dogovoru s liječnikom, medikamente za snižavanje kolesterola.

S obzirom na to da ove naslage neće nestati same od sebe, mogu se ukloniti na četiri načina:

Arcus senilis

Arcus senilis rožnice također može biti znak visokog kolesterola, uglavnom kod osoba mlađih od 45 godina. Riječ je o stvaranju plavog, bijelog ili svjetlosivog prstena na rožnici oka.

Stanje može započeti na vrhu ili dnu rožnice, ali će s vremenom formirati puni prsten. Ovo stanje lako je uočljivo jer će krug imati jasno izražen oštar rub, a unutrašnjost će biti zamagljena. Iako stručnjaci povezuju ovu promjenu na očima s povišenim kolesterolom, arcus rožnice može biti i samo posljedica starenja.

Ipak, krvni nalaz pokazat će ako imate visoki kolesterol, a u tom slučaju pripisat će vam se lijekovi i prehrana, kao i program vježbanja za snižavanje kolesterola u krvi.

Ovo stanje također ne uzrokuje bol ni slabljenje vida, no do sada nije utvrđeno da bi smanjenim unosom masnoća moglo doći do povlačenja arcusa senilisa. Stoga, bolje spriječite ikakve promjene koje bi vam mogle stvarati nelagodu na očima.

Okluzija retinalne vene

Okluzija retinalne vene nastaje kao posljedica začepljenja krvnih žila koje hrane mrežnicu, što može dovesti do zamagljenog vida ili trajnog oštećenja, pa čak i gubitka vida.
