Iako Ukrajina još nije službeno priznala, Ruski predsjednik Vladimir Putin čestitao je vojnicima na zauzimanju ukrajinskog grada Bahmut, kazavši da će najzaslužniji biti nagrađeni, objavile su ruske novinske agencije. To bi značilo da je okončana najduža i najkrvavija bitka u 15-mjesečnom ratu. Zauzimanje Bahmuta, kojeg Rusi još iz sovjetskog doba nazivaju Artjomovsk značilo bi prvu veću rusku pobjedu u ovom ratu, Rusko Ministarstvo obrane kratko je priopćilo "da je završeno oslobađanje Artjomovska kao rezultat napada jurišnih odreda Wagnera, uz podršku topništva i zračnih snaga".

Da je Bahumt u potpunosti u rukama Rusa, odnosno plaćenika ruske vojne skupine Wagner, neizravno je prizano i sam ukrajinski predsjednik Volodimir Zelenski.

Naime, Guardian piše da je Zelenski upitan je li grad i dalje pod kontrolom Kijeva u nedjelju odgovorio: ‘Mislim da ne. Danas je grad preostao samo u našim srcima‘

No, CNN donosi drugačiju verziju priče. Prema njima Zelenski je odgovarao na pitanja misli li je Bahmut pod kontrolom ukrajinskih snaga i potom jesu li ga Rusi u cijelosti zauzeli. Na to je drugo pitanje odgovorio - mislim da ne.

Kasnije je njegov ured razjasnio CNN-u da se Zelenski referirao doista na pitanje jesu li Rusi zauzeli grad.

- Predsjednik je to zanijekao - objasnio je glasnogovornik Zelenskog.

Rusija je, podsjetimo, u subotu objavila da je u potpunosti zauzela istočni ukrajinski grad. Napad na većinom sravnjen grad predvodile su trupe plaćenika skupine Wagner čiji je vođa Jevgenij Prigožin ranije u subotu rekao da su njegove snage konačno potisnule Ukrajince iz posljednjeg područja unutar grada. Institut za proučavanje rata u najnovijoj analizi tvrdi da pobjeda  pobjeda u Bahmutu nije ni taktički ni operativno značajna jer  ne daje ruskim snagama operativno značajan teren za nastavak provođenja ofenzivnih operacija ili bilo kakvu snažnu poziciju s koje bi se mogli braniti od mogućih ukrajinskih protunapada.

ISW tvrdi da Wagnerovci vjerojatno neće uspostaviti odgovarajuću obranu ili konsolidirati nedavne uspjehe u Bahmutu dovoljne da spriječe ukrajinske protunapade do 25. svibnja,kada snage Prigožinovi plaćenici planiraju utvrditi obrambene položaje prije prijenosa odgovornosti za grad na ruske konvencionalne snage.

Iako Ukrajina još nije službeno priznala, Ruski predsjednik Vladimir Putin čestitao je vojnicima na zauzimanju ukrajinskog grada Bahmut, kazavši da će najzaslužniji biti nagrađeni, objavile su ruske novinske agencije. To bi značilo da je okončana najduža i najkrvavija bitka u 15-mjesečnom ratu. Zauzimanje Bahmuta, kojeg Rusi još iz sovjetskog doba nazivaju Artjomovsk značilo bi prvu veću rusku pobjedu u ovom ratu, Rusko Ministarstvo obrane kratko je priopćilo "da je završeno oslobađanje Artjomovska kao rezultat napada jurišnih odreda Wagnera, uz podršku topništva i zračnih snaga".

Da je Bahumt u potpunosti u rukama Rusa, odnosno plaćenika ruske vojne skupine Wagner, neizravno je prizano i sam ukrajinski predsjednik Volodimir Zelenski.

Naime, Guardian piše da je Zelenski upitan je li grad i dalje pod kontrolom Kijeva u nedjelju odgovorio: ‘Mislim da ne. Danas je grad preostao samo u našim srcima‘

No, CNN donosi drugačiju verziju priče. Prema njima Zelenski je odgovarao na pitanja misli li je Bahmut pod kontrolom ukrajinskih snaga i potom jesu li ga Rusi u cijelosti zauzeli. Na to je drugo pitanje odgovorio - mislim da ne.

Kasnije je njegov ured razjasnio CNN-u da se Zelenski referirao doista na pitanje jesu li Rusi zauzeli grad.

- Predsjednik je to zanijekao - objasnio je glasnogovornik Zelenskog.

Rusija je, podsjetimo, u subotu objavila da je u potpunosti zauzela istočni ukrajinski grad. Napad na većinom sravnjen grad predvodile su trupe plaćenika skupine Wagner čiji je vođa Jevgenij Prigožin ranije u subotu rekao da su njegove snage konačno potisnule Ukrajince iz posljednjeg područja unutar grada. Institut za proučavanje rata u najnovijoj analizi tvrdi da pobjeda  pobjeda u Bahmutu nije ni taktički ni operativno značajna jer  ne daje ruskim snagama operativno značajan teren za nastavak provođenja ofenzivnih operacija ili bilo kakvu snažnu poziciju s koje bi se mogli braniti od mogućih ukrajinskih protunapada.

ISW tvrdi da Wagnerovci vjerojatno neće uspostaviti odgovarajuću obranu ili konsolidirati nedavne uspjehe u Bahmutu dovoljne da spriječe ukrajinske protunapade do 25. svibnja,kada snage Prigožinovi plaćenici planiraju utvrditi obrambene položaje prije prijenosa odgovornosti za grad na ruske konvencionalne snage.
