Ljudi su oduvijek stremili visinama, ali su se u isto vrijeme od njih užasavali. Posveta tom iskonskom strahu je ‘Pad‘, survival triler koji nas odvodi 600 metara iznad pijeska pustinje Mojave, na repetitor gotovo deseterostruko viši od našeg tornja ‘patuljka‘ na Srđu. Kalifornijski TV odašiljač u raspadajućem stanju usred ničega glavno je poprište radnje filma koji počiva na bazičnoj alpinističkoj opremi dviju mladih pustolovki. Jedna je udovica Becky (Grace Caroline Currey), a druga njezina prijateljica Hunter (Virginia Gardner) koje obje imaju čvrste razloge za smrtonosni uspon, makar se većini gledatelja njihov ‘tuk na utuk‘ pristup čini suludim.

‘Pad‘ u početku ne obećava mnogo. Štoviše, prve minute nakon oku neugodnog uvoda u priču slute na plitak filmić pun općih mjesta (oplakivanje mrtvih uz alkoholno beznađe, petparački psihološki savjeti za suočavanje sa strahovima), no dolaskom junakinja za kotu koju kane osvojiti, stvari se mijenjaju nabolje. Napetost raste sa svakim prijeđenim metrom prema gore gdje junakinjama zaprijeti cijeli set nenadanih nevolja. Redatelj Scott Mann (‘Pljačka‘ s Robertom de Nirom, ‘Turnir‘ s Vingom Rhamesom) izabrao je dobar ženski tandem za nosive uloge. Currey je uvjerljiva kao Becky, graciozna brineta sklona pretjeranom promišljanju. Blondina Gardner pak pronalazi fini balans između role vrckave vlogerice i snalažljive praktikantice ekstremnih sportova, stručnjakinje u preživljavanju.
Filmska ostvarenja (s)vezana uz lokaciju i ograničen broj likova lako mogu otklizati u monotoniju, no ovdje to nije slučaj. U zadanim okvirima Mann stalno poseže za različitim ‘lijekovima‘ protiv dosade. Jedan od jačih svakako je potpuna ovisnost mlađe populacije o suvremenim tehnologijama. Nekad su one, kako se potvrđuje u ‘Padu‘, jedini način za opstanak, a nekad sredstvo za najrizičnije moguće razmetanje selfieima. A i divlja priroda je neprijatelj per se, iskušava i napada uljeze kad se ovi tomu najmanje nadaju. Prijetnje od sunovrata u bezdan su trajno prisutne, no Mann pazi da one ne postanu same sebi svrhom pa nalazi mjesta za dva obrata koja doista iznenađuju. Prvi šokira nešto manje, a drugi doslovce izvlači i iz druge tenisice i zove na razmišljanje.

S primicanjem kraja ‘Pad‘ gubi na zamahu, neke scene graniče s irealnim i vuku prema lošim horor dosjetkama, poput obroka sa strvinarom, no odjevna špica na sreću kreće baš kad otklon od trilera gledatelju postaje bjelodan. Najjači adut protiv zaborava u ‘Padu‘ ostaju fascinantni vizuali koji će čak i one koji ne pate od akrofobije natjerati da barem jednom zažmire kad se na ekranu otvori bezdan. Po svojim karakteristikama, a i skromnom budžetu od oko 3 milijuna dolara, Mannov triler velike nadmorske visine spadao bi u kategoriju B filmova koji bolje pašu za gledanje kod kuće, no s tla ga na kino ekrane izdiže poduzetan par mladih glumica i posebni efekti koji upravo zbog toga što nisu preskupi, djeluju realno. Producentska ekipa ‘Pada‘ već je isprobala isti recept izoliranih djevojaka, ali pod morem, među morskim psima u ‘47 metara dubine‘. Uzletom na vrh zahrđalog tornja savladali su pozamašnu visinsku razliku.

Ljudi su oduvijek stremili visinama, ali su se u isto vrijeme od njih užasavali. Posveta tom iskonskom strahu je ‘Pad‘, survival triler koji nas odvodi 600 metara iznad pijeska pustinje Mojave, na repetitor gotovo deseterostruko viši od našeg tornja ‘patuljka‘ na Srđu. Kalifornijski TV odašiljač u raspadajućem stanju usred ničega glavno je poprište radnje filma koji počiva na bazičnoj alpinističkoj opremi dviju mladih pustolovki. Jedna je udovica Becky (Grace Caroline Currey), a druga njezina prijateljica Hunter (Virginia Gardner) koje obje imaju čvrste razloge za smrtonosni uspon, makar se većini gledatelja njihov ‘tuk na utuk‘ pristup čini suludim.

‘Pad‘ u početku ne obećava mnogo. Štoviše, prve minute nakon oku neugodnog uvoda u priču slute na plitak filmić pun općih mjesta (oplakivanje mrtvih uz alkoholno beznađe, petparački psihološki savjeti za suočavanje sa strahovima), no dolaskom junakinja za kotu koju kane osvojiti, stvari se mijenjaju nabolje. Napetost raste sa svakim prijeđenim metrom prema gore gdje junakinjama zaprijeti cijeli set nenadanih nevolja. Redatelj Scott Mann (‘Pljačka‘ s Robertom de Nirom, ‘Turnir‘ s Vingom Rhamesom) izabrao je dobar ženski tandem za nosive uloge. Currey je uvjerljiva kao Becky, graciozna brineta sklona pretjeranom promišljanju. Blondina Gardner pak pronalazi fini balans između role vrckave vlogerice i snalažljive praktikantice ekstremnih sportova, stručnjakinje u preživljavanju.
Filmska ostvarenja (s)vezana uz lokaciju i ograničen broj likova lako mogu otklizati u monotoniju, no ovdje to nije slučaj. U zadanim okvirima Mann stalno poseže za različitim ‘lijekovima‘ protiv dosade. Jedan od jačih svakako je potpuna ovisnost mlađe populacije o suvremenim tehnologijama. Nekad su one, kako se potvrđuje u ‘Padu‘, jedini način za opstanak, a nekad sredstvo za najrizičnije moguće razmetanje selfieima. A i divlja priroda je neprijatelj per se, iskušava i napada uljeze kad se ovi tomu najmanje nadaju. Prijetnje od sunovrata u bezdan su trajno prisutne, no Mann pazi da one ne postanu same sebi svrhom pa nalazi mjesta za dva obrata koja doista iznenađuju. Prvi šokira nešto manje, a drugi doslovce izvlači i iz druge tenisice i zove na razmišljanje.

S primicanjem kraja ‘Pad‘ gubi na zamahu, neke scene graniče s irealnim i vuku prema lošim horor dosjetkama, poput obroka sa strvinarom, no odjevna špica na sreću kreće baš kad otklon od trilera gledatelju postaje bjelodan. Najjači adut protiv zaborava u ‘Padu‘ ostaju fascinantni vizuali koji će čak i one koji ne pate od akrofobije natjerati da barem jednom zažmire kad se na ekranu otvori bezdan. Po svojim karakteristikama, a i skromnom budžetu od oko 3 milijuna dolara, Mannov triler velike nadmorske visine spadao bi u kategoriju B filmova koji bolje pašu za gledanje kod kuće, no s tla ga na kino ekrane izdiže poduzetan par mladih glumica i posebni efekti koji upravo zbog toga što nisu preskupi, djeluju realno. Producentska ekipa ‘Pada‘ već je isprobala isti recept izoliranih djevojaka, ali pod morem, među morskim psima u ‘47 metara dubine‘. Uzletom na vrh zahrđalog tornja savladali su pozamašnu visinsku razliku.
