Festivus je ovdje. A u 2021. godini imamo više pritužbi nego ikada. Što je zapravo Festivus? Mogli bismo to nazvati Festivalom borbi. Izmišljeni blagdan prvi je put izašao na vidjelo u Seinfeldu, u jednoj epizodi posljednje sezone emitiranoj 18. prosinca 1997. pod nazivom "The Strike".

Festivus je svojevrsna godišnja proslava 23. prosinca koju je započeo Georgeov otac Frank (pokojni Jerry Stiller) tako što je stvorio uvrnutu proslavu nakon nesretne tučnjave u robnoj kući oko lutke s još jednim kupcem dok je George bio dijete. Ovaj užasni praznik, manifest protiv sveprisutne komercijalizacije, uključuje odricanje od božićnog drvca za "neokićen aluminijski stup" - koji je bez ukrasa "uglavnom zato što šljokice previše ometaju", objašnjava Frank - i "podvige snage" zajedno s "emitiranjem pritužbi” oko stola za večeru o tome kako su vas drugi razočarali tijekom protekle godine.

S obzirom da pandemija koronavirusa i dalje dominira našim životima 2021., a varijanta omikron posebno raste, koncept osvrtanja na razočaravajuću godinu uopće nije toliko stran. Zapravo, gotovo je najprikladniji mogući.

Ovaj izmišljeni festival se ponajviše pamti po hrvačkom meču "podviga snage" između oca i sina. "Dok me ne pričvrstiš, George, Festivus nije gotov!" Frank najavljuje svom za život istraumatiziranom potomstvu u epizodi serije nagrađene Emmyjem.

Tako je rođen "Festivus za nas ostale" - iako je praznik zapravo stvorio otac jednog od Seinfeldovih scenarista Dana O'Keefea 1960-ih, a kasnije ga je prenamijenio za seriju, zašto može zahvaliti svom bratu Marku. "Moj glasni brat je o tome pričao na zabavi na kojoj su bili producenti 'Seinfelda' i oni su se zainteresirali", objasnio je O'Keefe u intervjuu 2017., dodajući da je ovaj bizarni ritual bio "nešto što je ujedninilo moju obitelj zajedničkoj mržnji.” Producentima je rekao da misli da je to "zapravo užasno" i "previše čudno", ali je i sam Seinfeld bio zaintrigiran, pa im je O'Keefe dopustio da to iskoriste u emisiji.

“Postavili smo ga na TV, a – ne bih rekao da je ostalo povijest – ostalo je kratka popkulturna fusnota, ali je, pretpostavljam, marginalno zanimljiva”, rekao je. (O’Keefe je čak napisao knjigu o tome iz 2005., pod naslovom “The Real Festivus.”)

A koliko je Festivus popularan već više od dva desetljeća nakon epizode Seinfelda, Festivus veste — za nošenje na godišnjoj Festivus zabavi — dostupni su na Amazonu i drugdje. Čak i Međunarodna zračna luka Orlando napominje da su okomiti metalni stupovi na njihovim automatiziranim transporterima bez šljokica i da imaju "vrlo visok omjer snage i težine" što ih čini savršenima za proslavljanje godišnjeg "praznika".

Festivus je ovdje. A u 2021. godini imamo više pritužbi nego ikada. Što je zapravo Festivus? Mogli bismo to nazvati Festivalom borbi. Izmišljeni blagdan prvi je put izašao na vidjelo u Seinfeldu, u jednoj epizodi posljednje sezone emitiranoj 18. prosinca 1997. pod nazivom "The Strike".

Festivus je svojevrsna godišnja proslava 23. prosinca koju je započeo Georgeov otac Frank (pokojni Jerry Stiller) tako što je stvorio uvrnutu proslavu nakon nesretne tučnjave u robnoj kući oko lutke s još jednim kupcem dok je George bio dijete. Ovaj užasni praznik, manifest protiv sveprisutne komercijalizacije, uključuje odricanje od božićnog drvca za "neokićen aluminijski stup" - koji je bez ukrasa "uglavnom zato što šljokice previše ometaju", objašnjava Frank - i "podvige snage" zajedno s "emitiranjem pritužbi” oko stola za večeru o tome kako su vas drugi razočarali tijekom protekle godine.

S obzirom da pandemija koronavirusa i dalje dominira našim životima 2021., a varijanta omikron posebno raste, koncept osvrtanja na razočaravajuću godinu uopće nije toliko stran. Zapravo, gotovo je najprikladniji mogući.

Ovaj izmišljeni festival se ponajviše pamti po hrvačkom meču "podviga snage" između oca i sina. "Dok me ne pričvrstiš, George, Festivus nije gotov!" Frank najavljuje svom za život istraumatiziranom potomstvu u epizodi serije nagrađene Emmyjem.

Tako je rođen "Festivus za nas ostale" - iako je praznik zapravo stvorio otac jednog od Seinfeldovih scenarista Dana O'Keefea 1960-ih, a kasnije ga je prenamijenio za seriju, zašto može zahvaliti svom bratu Marku. "Moj glasni brat je o tome pričao na zabavi na kojoj su bili producenti 'Seinfelda' i oni su se zainteresirali", objasnio je O'Keefe u intervjuu 2017., dodajući da je ovaj bizarni ritual bio "nešto što je ujedninilo moju obitelj zajedničkoj mržnji.” Producentima je rekao da misli da je to "zapravo užasno" i "previše čudno", ali je i sam Seinfeld bio zaintrigiran, pa im je O'Keefe dopustio da to iskoriste u emisiji.

“Postavili smo ga na TV, a – ne bih rekao da je ostalo povijest – ostalo je kratka popkulturna fusnota, ali je, pretpostavljam, marginalno zanimljiva”, rekao je. (O’Keefe je čak napisao knjigu o tome iz 2005., pod naslovom “The Real Festivus.”)

A koliko je Festivus popularan već više od dva desetljeća nakon epizode Seinfelda, Festivus veste — za nošenje na godišnjoj Festivus zabavi — dostupni su na Amazonu i drugdje. Čak i Međunarodna zračna luka Orlando napominje da su okomiti metalni stupovi na njihovim automatiziranim transporterima bez šljokica i da imaju "vrlo visok omjer snage i težine" što ih čini savršenima za proslavljanje godišnjeg "praznika".
