Dok je veći dio SAD-a obilježavao Dan neovisnosti, oko 300 prosvjednika je u subotu u Baltimoreu srušilo spomenik Kristoforu Kolumbu koji se razbio na više dijelova te su pobacani u more u luci, javljaju agencije i američki mediji.

Kip Kolumba nalazio se u četvrti Little Italy lučkog grada u državi Maryland, a prosvjednici su ga vezali lancima i srušili uz oduševljeno klicanje i skakanje prosvjednika.

"Nakon što je kip srušen razbio se u nekoliko komada koje su prosvjednici vukli preko trga i pobacali ih u luku", kazao je za CNN Louis Krauss.

Spomenici u čast Kolumbu, pomorcu iz Genove poznatom po otkriću Amerike, našli su se na meti vandala i u brojnim drugim gradovima u SAD-u poput Bostona, Miamija i Richmonda, a u San Franciscu su ga uklonile gradske vlasti.

Kolumbov spomenik u Baltimoreu postavljen je 1984. u nazočnosti tadašnjeg gradonačelnika i predsjednika Ronalda Reagana.

Kip je samo jedan od mnogih povijesnih spomenika koji su oštećeni ili potpuno uništeni tijekom neprekinutog vala prosvjeda protiv policijske brutalnosti koji su započeli nakon ubojstva crnca Georgea Floyda krajem svibnja.

Policija nije bila nazočna prilikom rušenja spomenika u Baltimoreu.
Slavljen kao otkrivač Amerike, na Kristofora Kolumba danas neki gledaju kao na simbol dolaska Europljana koji su oteli zemlju koja im ne pripada.

U svom govoru povodom Dana neovisnosti, kada je  1776. godine 13 britanskih kolonija proglasilo nezavisnot od britanske krune, predsjednik Donald Trump je spomenuo i tog talijanskog pomorca.

"Zajedno ćemo se boriti za američki san i branit ćemo, štititi i očuvati naš američki način života koji je počeo 1492. kada je Kristofor Kolumbo otkrio Ameriku", rekao je Trump, a prenosi AFP.

Također je poručio da će Amerika "pobijediti radikalnu ljevicu, marksiste, anarhiste, agitatore te pljačkaše i lupeže".

"Nikada nećemo dozvoliti bijesnoj rulji da ruši naše spomenike, briše našu povijest i indoktrinira našu djecu", istaknuo je Trump.
Predsjednik je u petak zatražio od policije da uhićuje ljude koji ruše spomenike.

Dok je veći dio SAD-a obilježavao Dan neovisnosti, oko 300 prosvjednika je u subotu u Baltimoreu srušilo spomenik Kristoforu Kolumbu koji se razbio na više dijelova te su pobacani u more u luci, javljaju agencije i američki mediji.

Kip Kolumba nalazio se u četvrti Little Italy lučkog grada u državi Maryland, a prosvjednici su ga vezali lancima i srušili uz oduševljeno klicanje i skakanje prosvjednika.

"Nakon što je kip srušen razbio se u nekoliko komada koje su prosvjednici vukli preko trga i pobacali ih u luku", kazao je za CNN Louis Krauss.

Spomenici u čast Kolumbu, pomorcu iz Genove poznatom po otkriću Amerike, našli su se na meti vandala i u brojnim drugim gradovima u SAD-u poput Bostona, Miamija i Richmonda, a u San Franciscu su ga uklonile gradske vlasti.

Kolumbov spomenik u Baltimoreu postavljen je 1984. u nazočnosti tadašnjeg gradonačelnika i predsjednika Ronalda Reagana.

Kip je samo jedan od mnogih povijesnih spomenika koji su oštećeni ili potpuno uništeni tijekom neprekinutog vala prosvjeda protiv policijske brutalnosti koji su započeli nakon ubojstva crnca Georgea Floyda krajem svibnja.

Policija nije bila nazočna prilikom rušenja spomenika u Baltimoreu.
Slavljen kao otkrivač Amerike, na Kristofora Kolumba danas neki gledaju kao na simbol dolaska Europljana koji su oteli zemlju koja im ne pripada.

U svom govoru povodom Dana neovisnosti, kada je  1776. godine 13 britanskih kolonija proglasilo nezavisnot od britanske krune, predsjednik Donald Trump je spomenuo i tog talijanskog pomorca.

"Zajedno ćemo se boriti za američki san i branit ćemo, štititi i očuvati naš američki način života koji je počeo 1492. kada je Kristofor Kolumbo otkrio Ameriku", rekao je Trump, a prenosi AFP.

Također je poručio da će Amerika "pobijediti radikalnu ljevicu, marksiste, anarhiste, agitatore te pljačkaše i lupeže".

"Nikada nećemo dozvoliti bijesnoj rulji da ruši naše spomenike, briše našu povijest i indoktrinira našu djecu", istaknuo je Trump.
Predsjednik je u petak zatražio od policije da uhićuje ljude koji ruše spomenike.

U Baltimoreu srušen spomenik Kristoforu Kolumbu, prosvjednici dijelove pobacali u more

Dok je veći dio SAD-a obilježavao Dan neovisnosti, oko 300 prosvjednika je u subotu u Baltimoreu srušilo spomenik Kristoforu Kolumbu koji se razbio na više dijelova te su pobacani u more u luci, javljaju agencije i američki mediji.

Kip Kolumba nalazio se u četvrti Little Italy lučkog grada u državi Maryland, a prosvjednici su ga vezali lancima i srušili uz oduševljeno klicanje i skakanje prosvjednika.

"Nakon što je kip srušen razbio se u nekoliko komada koje su prosvjednici vukli preko trga i pobacali ih u luku", kazao je za CNN Louis Krauss.

Spomenici u čast Kolumbu, pomorcu iz Genove poznatom po otkriću Amerike, našli su se na meti vandala i u brojnim drugim gradovima u SAD-u poput Bostona, Miamija i Richmonda, a u San Franciscu su ga uklonile gradske vlasti.
