Potpredsjednica Europskog parlamenta Eva Kaili i još četiri osobe privedene su u petak poslijepodne zbog sumnji na korupciju i pranje novca, u slučaju koji belgijski mediji povezuju s ilegalnim lobiranjem predstavnika države Katar u Bruxellesu, piše Jutarnji list.

Grčka eurozastupnica iz skupine Socijalista i demokrata (S&D) našla se tako u središtu skandala koji potresa jedino tijelo EU čiji su predstavnici izravno birani. Klub S&D zastupnika u EP brzo je u petak objavio kako je Kaili suspendirana iz članstva zbog istrage koja je otvorena protiv nje, dok ju je njezina matična stranka, grčki Pan-helenistički socijalistički pokret (PASOK), smjesta isključila iz članstva. Belgijska policija započela je u petak ujutro s racijama i pretragama ureda u Bruxellesu, u kojima je zaplijenjeno čak 600.000 eura u gotovini, a istražitelji su zaplijenili i računala, mobitele te memorijske kartice.

"Savezna policija provela je 16 pretraga na 14 lokacija u Bruxellesu. Ove su pretrage izvedene kao dio široke istrage za navodna djela udruživanja u zločinačku organizaciju, korupcije i pranja novca", stoji u priopćenju belgijskih službi.

Prema izjavama iz ureda saveznog tužitelja, istražitelji "sumnjaju kako je jedna zaljevska država pokušala utjecati na ekonomske i političke odluke Europskog parlamenta". Predstavnici te države, za koju belgijski Le Soir tvrdi da je u pitanju Katar, "plaćali su značajne novčane iznose ili nudili vrijedne poklone osobama koje su imale značajne političke ili strateške položaje unutar Europskog parlamenta".

Le Soir navodi kako je osim Kaili uhićen i bivši talijanski eurozastupnik Pier-Antonio Panzeri, također iz kluba S&D, novoizabrani glavni tajnik Međunarodne konfederacije sindikata (ITUC) Luca Visentini, neimenovani čelnik neprofitne organizacije i parlamentarni asistent belgijske eurozastupnice Marie Arene. Svi uhićeni, osim Kaili, talijanski su državljani, izrazito aktivni u neprofitnim organizacijama za zaštitu ljudskih prava.

Osim petero uhićenih, istragom je obuhvaćeno još nekoliko parlamentarnih asistenata povezanih s klubom S&D zastupnika, kao i najmanje jedan povezan s Europskom pučkom strankom (EPP). Pretrage su obavljene i u domovima dva savjetnika te jednog dužnosnika Europskog parlamenta.

Eva Kaili jedna je od 14 potpredsjednika Europskog parlamenta, od kojih je petero iz skupine zastupnika S&D-a. Kaili, rođena 1978., postala je članica mladeži PASOK-a u srednjoj školi, s 14 godina, a s 24 je postala najmlađa zastupnica u gradskom vijeću Soluna, piše Jutarnji list.

Od 2003. do 2007. radila je i proslavila se kao voditeljica vijesti na grčkom televizijskom kanalu Mega. Televiziju je napustila kad je izabrana za zastupnicu grčkog parlamenta, gdje je izabrana na dvjema uzastopnim izborima.

Od 2014. je zastupnica u Europskom parlamentu, gdje je bila izrazito aktivna na nizu područja - bila je prva žena na čelu Radne skupine za budućnost znanosti i tehnologije (STOA), čelnica Centra za umjetnu inteligenciju (C4AI), čelnica Radne skupine za inovacijsku strategiju informacijskih i telokomunikacijskih tehnologija te čelnica delegacije Europskog parlamenta za odnose s NATO parlamentarnom skupštinom. U EP je bila jedna od vodećih promotora novih digitalnih tehnologija, od umjetne inteligencije do blockchaina.

Potpredsjednica Europskog parlamenta Eva Kaili i još četiri osobe privedene su u petak poslijepodne zbog sumnji na korupciju i pranje novca, u slučaju koji belgijski mediji povezuju s ilegalnim lobiranjem predstavnika države Katar u Bruxellesu, piše Jutarnji list.

Grčka eurozastupnica iz skupine Socijalista i demokrata (S&D) našla se tako u središtu skandala koji potresa jedino tijelo EU čiji su predstavnici izravno birani. Klub S&D zastupnika u EP brzo je u petak objavio kako je Kaili suspendirana iz članstva zbog istrage koja je otvorena protiv nje, dok ju je njezina matična stranka, grčki Pan-helenistički socijalistički pokret (PASOK), smjesta isključila iz članstva. Belgijska policija započela je u petak ujutro s racijama i pretragama ureda u Bruxellesu, u kojima je zaplijenjeno čak 600.000 eura u gotovini, a istražitelji su zaplijenili i računala, mobitele te memorijske kartice.

"Savezna policija provela je 16 pretraga na 14 lokacija u Bruxellesu. Ove su pretrage izvedene kao dio široke istrage za navodna djela udruživanja u zločinačku organizaciju, korupcije i pranja novca", stoji u priopćenju belgijskih službi.

Prema izjavama iz ureda saveznog tužitelja, istražitelji "sumnjaju kako je jedna zaljevska država pokušala utjecati na ekonomske i političke odluke Europskog parlamenta". Predstavnici te države, za koju belgijski Le Soir tvrdi da je u pitanju Katar, "plaćali su značajne novčane iznose ili nudili vrijedne poklone osobama koje su imale značajne političke ili strateške položaje unutar Europskog parlamenta".

Le Soir navodi kako je osim Kaili uhićen i bivši talijanski eurozastupnik Pier-Antonio Panzeri, također iz kluba S&D, novoizabrani glavni tajnik Međunarodne konfederacije sindikata (ITUC) Luca Visentini, neimenovani čelnik neprofitne organizacije i parlamentarni asistent belgijske eurozastupnice Marie Arene. Svi uhićeni, osim Kaili, talijanski su državljani, izrazito aktivni u neprofitnim organizacijama za zaštitu ljudskih prava.

Osim petero uhićenih, istragom je obuhvaćeno još nekoliko parlamentarnih asistenata povezanih s klubom S&D zastupnika, kao i najmanje jedan povezan s Europskom pučkom strankom (EPP). Pretrage su obavljene i u domovima dva savjetnika te jednog dužnosnika Europskog parlamenta.

Eva Kaili jedna je od 14 potpredsjednika Europskog parlamenta, od kojih je petero iz skupine zastupnika S&D-a. Kaili, rođena 1978., postala je članica mladeži PASOK-a u srednjoj školi, s 14 godina, a s 24 je postala najmlađa zastupnica u gradskom vijeću Soluna, piše Jutarnji list.

Od 2003. do 2007. radila je i proslavila se kao voditeljica vijesti na grčkom televizijskom kanalu Mega. Televiziju je napustila kad je izabrana za zastupnicu grčkog parlamenta, gdje je izabrana na dvjema uzastopnim izborima.

Od 2014. je zastupnica u Europskom parlamentu, gdje je bila izrazito aktivna na nizu područja - bila je prva žena na čelu Radne skupine za budućnost znanosti i tehnologije (STOA), čelnica Centra za umjetnu inteligenciju (C4AI), čelnica Radne skupine za inovacijsku strategiju informacijskih i telokomunikacijskih tehnologija te čelnica delegacije Europskog parlamenta za odnose s NATO parlamentarnom skupštinom. U EP je bila jedna od vodećih promotora novih digitalnih tehnologija, od umjetne inteligencije do blockchaina.

Potpredsjednica Europskog parlamenta Eva Kaili i još četiri osobe privedene su u petak poslijepodne zbog sumnji na korupciju i pranje novca, u slučaju koji belgijski mediji povezuju s ilegalnim lobiranjem predstavnika države Katar u Bruxellesu, piše Jutarnji list.

Grčka eurozastupnica iz skupine Socijalista i demokrata (S&D) našla se tako u središtu skandala koji potresa jedino tijelo EU čiji su predstavnici izravno birani. Klub S&D zastupnika u EP brzo je u petak objavio kako je Kaili suspendirana iz članstva zbog istrage koja je otvorena protiv nje, dok ju je njezina matična stranka, grčki Pan-helenistički socijalistički pokret (PASOK), smjesta isključila iz članstva. Belgijska policija započela je u petak ujutro s racijama i pretragama ureda u Bruxellesu, u kojima je zaplijenje...
