Bolničarka iz Kanade koja je prošli tjedan prva reagirala na prometnu nesreću i pomogla unesrećenoj tinejdžerici nije bila svjesna da je riječ o njezinoj vlastitoj kćeri, piše Guardian.
Kad je Jayme Erickson 15. studenoga stigla na mjesto nesreće na zaleđenom dijelu autoceste u Alberti, zatekla je strahovitu prometnu nesreću i tinejdžericu s teškim ozljedama. Erickson je već tada pretpostavljala da djevojci nema spasa. No zbog težine ozljeda, Erickson nije prepoznala o kome se radi.
Erickson se gotovo pola sata trudila kako bi izvadila djevojku iz vozila i ostala s njom sve dok tinejdžerica nije helikopterom prebačena u obližnju bolnicu u Calgaryju.
Kada je Erickson stigla kući na kraju smjene, dočekali su je policajci koji su rekli da je njezina 17-godišnja kći Montana bila žrtva nesreće. Rečeno joj je da su ozljede preteške i Montana je isključena s aparata za održavanje na životu.
‘Teško ozlijeđena pacijentica kojoj sam pomagala je moje jedino dijete. Moja mala ja. Moja kći, Montana‘, kazala je obitelji i prijateljima. ‘Iako sam zahvalna za 17 godina koje sam provela s njom, shrvana sam i pitam se: Što bi postala da si imala prilike odrasti, djevojčice moja? Tko bi ti bila?‘
‘Shrvana sam. Slomljena sam. Nedostaje mi dio mene. Sad mi jedino preostaje da pokušam pokupiti razbijene komadiće svog života jer se od mene očekuje da nastavim‘, kazala je očajna žena.
Govoreći pred novinarima u utorak u Airdrieu, Erickson je svoju kćer opisala biranim riječima. ‘Bila je borac i borila se do dana kada je umrla i bila je prekrasna‘, rekla je.
Richard Reed, prijatelj i kolega bolničar, više se puta slomio dok je novinarima govorio o nesreći u kojoj je automobil s dvije tinejdžerice, koje su se vraćale iz šetnje pasa, izgubio kontrolu te ga je udario kamion koji je dolazio iz suprotnog smjera.
Vozačica je uspjela izaći iz vozila, ali suvozačica, Montana, ostala je zarobljena. Erickson je prva stigla na mjesto događaja i kasnije je svom suprugu kazala kako je tužna jer će ‘jedna obitelj vjerojatno izgubiti svoju kćer‘.
‘I kao roditelj i kao osoba koja radi u Hitnoj pomoći, mogu vam reći da je ovo više od noćne more koju bilo tko od nas može zamisliti‘, rekao je Reed.
Erickson je rekla da želi da svijet sazna za kćer koju je izgubila. ‘Silno je željela svima biti prijatelj. Voljela bi te do kraja svijeta i natrag i učinila bi sve za tebe. Bila je borac. I borila se‘, rekla je.
Inače plivačica koja je željela upisati pravni fakultet, Montana je poklonila ‘posljednji dar‘ onima kojima je najpotrebnije. ‘Donirala je svoje organe, a od njezinih organa, spašena su dva života‘, rekla je Erickson. ‘Tako smo sretni što naša djevojčica živi u drugima i što je nakon ove tragedije spasila druge ljude. Znamo da je to ono što bi željela i jako smo ponosni na nju i jako, jako će nam nedostajati.‘

Bolničarka iz Kanade koja je prošli tjedan prva reagirala na prometnu nesreću i pomogla unesrećenoj tinejdžerici nije bila svjesna da je riječ o njezinoj vlastitoj kćeri, piše Guardian.
Kad je Jayme Erickson 15. studenoga stigla na mjesto nesreće na zaleđenom dijelu autoceste u Alberti, zatekla je strahovitu prometnu nesreću i tinejdžericu s teškim ozljedama. Erickson je već tada pretpostavljala da djevojci nema spasa. No zbog težine ozljeda, Erickson nije prepoznala o kome se radi.
Erickson se gotovo pola sata trudila kako bi izvadila djevojku iz vozila i ostala s njom sve dok tinejdžerica nije helikopterom prebačena u obližnju bolnicu u Calgaryju.
Kada je Erickson stigla kući na kraju smjene, dočekali su je policajci koji su rekli da je njezina 17-godišnja kći Montana bila žrtva nesreće. Rečeno joj je da su ozljede preteške i Montana je isključena s aparata za održavanje na životu.
‘Teško ozlijeđena pacijentica kojoj sam pomagala je moje jedino dijete. Moja mala ja. Moja kći, Montana‘, kazala je obitelji i prijateljima. ‘Iako sam zahvalna za 17 godina koje sam provela s njom, shrvana sam i pitam se: Što bi postala da si imala prilike odrasti, djevojčice moja? Tko bi ti bila?‘
‘Shrvana sam. Slomljena sam. Nedostaje mi dio mene. Sad mi jedino preostaje da pokušam pokupiti razbijene komadiće svog života jer se od mene očekuje da nastavim‘, kazala je očajna žena.
Govoreći pred novinarima u utorak u Airdrieu, Erickson je svoju kćer opisala biranim riječima. ‘Bila je borac i borila se do dana kada je umrla i bila je prekrasna‘, rekla je.
Richard Reed, prijatelj i kolega bolničar, više se puta slomio dok je novinarima govorio o nesreći u kojoj je automobil s dvije tinejdžerice, koje su se vraćale iz šetnje pasa, izgubio kontrolu te ga je udario kamion koji je dolazio iz suprotnog smjera.
Vozačica je uspjela izaći iz vozila, ali suvozačica, Montana, ostala je zarobljena. Erickson je prva stigla na mjesto događaja i kasnije je svom suprugu kazala kako je tužna jer će ‘jedna obitelj vjerojatno izgubiti svoju kćer‘.
‘I kao roditelj i kao osoba koja radi u Hitnoj pomoći, mogu vam reći da je ovo više od noćne more koju bilo tko od nas može zamisliti‘, rekao je Reed.
Erickson je rekla da želi da svijet sazna za kćer koju je izgubila. ‘Silno je željela svima biti prijatelj. Voljela bi te do kraja svijeta i natrag i učinila bi sve za tebe. Bila je borac. I borila se‘, rekla je.
Inače plivačica koja je željela upisati pravni fakultet, Montana je poklonila ‘posljednji dar‘ onima kojima je najpotrebnije. ‘Donirala je svoje organe, a od njezinih organa, spašena su dva života‘, rekla je Erickson. ‘Tako smo sretni što naša djevojčica živi u drugima i što je nakon ove tragedije spasila druge ljude. Znamo da je to ono što bi željela i jako smo ponosni na nju i jako, jako će nam nedostajati.‘
