Prije dva mjeseca joj iz jajnika uklonili cistu veličine teniske loptice, a vratila se već na Roland Garros

Gotovo svaki Grand slam iznjedri barem jednog autsajdera koji je izborio glavni turnir, a zatim i prošao par kola, poneki i više. No, junakinja ove priče i Roland Garrosa koji je u punom zamahu, nipošto ne spada u tu kategoriju. Danielle Rose Collins pedeseta je igračica svijeta i definitivno ne slovi za „anonimusa“ u svijetu ženskog tenisa.

Štoviše, nanizala je nekoliko zapaženih rezultata, prvi još dok je bila samo studentica. Kao članica Sveučilišta u Virginiji dvaput je osvajala NCAA titule u singlu, 2014. i 2016. Relativno kasno odlučila se profesionalno posvetiti tenisu, a prve korake na WTA turnirima napravila je iste godine, nakon što je diplomirala.

Do rankinga karijere stigla je prije dvije i pol godine kada se „popela“ do 23. mjesta zahvaljujući trijumfu u Newport Beachu. Do danas joj je to ostala jedina titula na profesionalnoj razini.

Što je onda toliko posebno vezano za nju?

Amerikanka je prije samo dva mjeseca morala na operaciju kako bi uklonila posljedice endometrioze, kronične bolesti zbog koje se najčešće izvan maternice stvara višak tkiva sličan onome u njoj. Priraslica ženama stvara osjećaj izrazite neugode i boli, a Collins se s tim bori još od 2016. Bolest je to koja se ne može u potpunosti izliječiti, a terapijama ili operacijom mogu se tek ublažiti simptomi.

Nažalost, to nije jedina nevolja koja je zahvatila nesretnu Danielle. Prije dvije godine, nedugo nakon što je senzacionalno dogurala do polufinala Australian Opena, otkrila je da boluje i od reumatoidnog artritisa. Oboljenje je to koje karakteriziraju česte upale i oticanja zglobova, a u težim slučajevima i gubitak funkcije istih.

-Na Wimbledonu 2018. sam osjetila oštru bol u leđima. Pala sam i nisam mogla ustati. Morali su me prevesti kući. Slično mi se dogodilo i u Australiji ove godine tijekom karantene. Pala sam na treningu i samo ostala ležati na leđima – otkrila je medijima ranije ove godine.

Ovaj problem uspijeva koliko-toliko držati pod kontrolom zahvaljujući drastičnoj promjeni prehrane. Iz jelovnika je izbacila gluten i mliječne proizvode. Istu bolest imala je i njezina baka, a nije nepoznata ni na Touru. Naime, i Caroline Wozniacki otkrila je da ima identičan problem.

Igrati tenis s takvom dijagnozom na profesionalnom nivou nije lagana zadaća. Godinama je trpjela bol i nelagodu. Bojala se za svoju karijeru, no povrh svega mučilo ju je hoće li uspjeti jednog dana zasnovati obitelj.

No, nakon ovogodišnjeg turnira u Miamiju odlučila je reći dosta i otići „pod nož“. U domovini je uspjela proći prvo kolo pobijedivši Kristinu Mladenović, no u drugom je poražena od Kudermetove. To je bilo to. Odvažila se riješiti svoj problem.

-Doktori su mi uklonili cistu veličine teniske loptice iz jajnika kao i ostatak tkiva iz crijeva i mjehura. Rekli su mi da ću biti spremna za Roland Garros, ali trebala sam odraditi dobar dio rehabilitacije – kazala je za Telegraph neposredno nakon operacije.

-Sada osjećam ogromno olakšanje. Nema više propuštenih treninga. Ne osjećam simptome poput onih od gripe – priznala je.

S terena je izbivala dva mjeseca. Žrtvovala je gotovo čitavu „zemljanu sezonu“ kako bi se u potpunosti oporavila i pripremila za Roland Garros. I nije pogriješila.

-Znam da će mi trebati vremena da opet uhvatim kontinuitet, ali volim ovaj sport i volim putovanja. Želim imati što dužu karijeru – izjavila je prije početka pariškog Slama.

U prvom kolu pobijedila je Kineskinju Xiju Wang u tri seta (6-2, 4-6, 6-4). Uspješna je bila i u drugom protiv Ukrajinke Anheline Kalinine. Slavila je 27-godišnjakinja s uvjerljivih 6-0, 6-2 za tek nešto više od sat vremena igre.

Što je priželjkivala, to je i ostvarila. Uhvatila je ritam već u svom prvom turniru poslije teške operacije. Kako rekosmo, zdrava i spremna prošla je dva kola zasluživši tako ogled s legendarnom Serenom Williams u trećem kolu.

Collins je pravi primjer borca i sportaša. Njezina priča zasigurno zaslužuje i mnogo više od ovih redaka. Bez srama govorila je o svom problemu i tako postala utjeha i ohrabrenje svim ženama koje dijele istu dijagnozu. A nije ih malo. Prema nekim procjenama, u svijetu od endometrioze boluje više od 176 milijuna žena.

-Imala sam sreću da je pored mene bila prijateljica koja je kroz sve ovo već prošla. Sada ja želim biti od pomoći drugim ženama koje se muče s tim – napisala je Danielle u objavi na svom Instagram profilu nadajući se kako će njezin slučaj motivirati druge da se odvaže otići na pregled.

Prije dva mjeseca joj iz jajnika uklonili cistu veličine teniske loptice, a vratila se već na Roland Garros

Gotovo svaki Grand slam iznjedri barem jednog autsajdera koji je izborio glavni turnir, a zatim i prošao par kola, poneki i više. No, junakinja ove priče i Roland Garrosa koji je u punom zamahu, nipošto ne spada u tu kategoriju. Danielle Rose Collins pedeseta je igračica svijeta i definitivno ne slovi za „anonimusa“ u svijetu ženskog tenisa.

Štoviše, nanizala je nekoliko zapaženih rezultata, prvi još dok je bila samo studentica. Kao članica Sveučilišta u Virginiji dvaput je osvajala NCAA titule u singlu, 2014. i 2016. Relativno kasno odlučila se profesionalno posvetiti tenisu, a prve korake na WTA turnirima napravila je iste godine, nakon što je diplomirala.

Do rankinga karijere stigla je prije dvije i pol godine kada se „popela“ do 23. mjesta zahvaljujući trijumfu u Newport Beachu. Do danas joj je to ostala jedina titula na profesionalnoj razini.

Što je onda toliko posebno vezano za nju?

Amerikanka je prije samo dva mjeseca morala na operaciju kako bi uklonila posljedice endometrioze, kronične bolesti zbog koje se najčešće izvan maternice stvara višak tkiva sličan onome u njoj. Priraslica ženama stvara osjećaj izrazite neugode i boli, a Collins se s tim bori još od 2016. Bolest je to koja se ne može u potpunosti izliječiti, a terapijama ili operacijom mogu se tek ublažiti simptomi.

Nažalost, to nije jedina nevolja koja je zahvatila nesretnu Danielle. Prije dvije godine, nedugo nakon što je senzacionalno dogurala do polufinala Australian Opena, otkrila je da boluje i od reumatoidnog artritisa. Oboljenje je to koje karakteriziraju česte upale i oticanja zglobova, a u težim slučajevima i gubitak funkcije istih.

-Na Wimbledonu 2018. sam osjetila oštru bol u leđima. Pala sam i nisam mogla ustati. Morali su me prevesti kući. Slično mi se dogodilo i u Australiji ove godine tijekom karantene. Pala sam na treningu i samo ostala ležati na leđima – otkrila je medijima ranije ove godine.

Ovaj problem uspijeva koliko-toliko držati pod kontrolom zahvaljujući drastičnoj promjeni prehrane. Iz jelovnika je izbacila gluten i mliječne proizvode. Istu bolest imala je i njezina baka, a nije nepoznata ni na Touru. Naime, i Caroline Wozniacki otkrila je da ima identičan problem.

Igrati tenis s takvom dijagnozom na profesionalnom nivou nije lagana zadaća. Godinama je trpjela bol i nelagodu. Bojala se za svoju karijeru, no povrh svega mučilo ju je hoće li uspjeti jednog dana zasnovati obitelj.

No, nakon ovogodišnjeg turnira u Miamiju odlučila je reći dosta i otići „pod nož“. U domovini je uspjela proći prvo kolo pobijedivši Kristinu Mladenović, no u drugom je poražena od Kudermetove. To je bilo to. Odvažila se riješiti svoj problem.

-Doktori su mi uklonili cistu veličine teniske loptice iz jajnika kao i ostatak tkiva iz crijeva i mjehura. Rekli su mi da ću biti spremna za Roland Garros, ali trebala sam odraditi dobar dio rehabilitacije – kazala je za Telegraph neposredno nakon operacije.

-Sada osjećam ogromno olakšanje. Nema više propuštenih treninga. Ne osjećam simptome poput onih od gripe – priznala je.

S terena je izbivala dva mjeseca. Žrtvovala je gotovo čitavu „zemljanu sezonu“ kako bi se u potpunosti oporavila i pripremila za Roland Garros. I nije pogriješila.

-Znam da će mi trebati vremena da opet uhvatim kontinuitet, ali volim ovaj sport i volim putovanja. Želim imati što dužu karijeru – izjavila je prije početka pariškog Slama.

U prvom kolu pobijedila je Kineskinju Xiju Wang u tri seta (6-2, 4-6, 6-4). Uspješna je bila i u drugom protiv Ukrajinke Anheline Kalinine. Slavila je 27-godišnjakinja s uvjerljivih 6-0, 6-2 za tek nešto više od sat vremena igre.

Što je priželjkivala, to je i ostvarila. Uhvatila je ritam već u svom prvom turniru poslije teške operacije. Kako rekosmo, zdrava i spremna prošla je dva kola zasluživši tako ogled s legendarnom Serenom Williams u trećem kolu.

Collins je pravi primjer borca i sportaša. Njezina priča zasigurno zaslužuje i mnogo više od ovih redaka. Bez srama govorila je o svom problemu i tako postala utjeha i ohrabrenje svim ženama koje dijele istu dijagnozu. A nije ih malo. Prema nekim procjenama, u svijetu od endometrioze boluje više od 176 milijuna žena.

-Imala sam sreću da je pored mene bila prijateljica koja je kroz sve ovo već prošla. Sada ja želim biti od pomoći drugim ženama koje se muče s tim – napisala je Danielle u objavi na svom Instagram profilu nadajući se kako će njezin slučaj motivirati druge da se odvaže otići na pregled.

Prije dva mjeseca joj iz jajnika uklonili cistu veličine teniske loptice, a vratila se već na Roland Garros

Gotovo svaki Grand slam iznjedri barem jednog autsajdera koji je izborio glavni turnir, a zatim i prošao par kola, poneki i više. No, junakinja ove priče i Roland Garrosa koji je u punom zamahu, nipošto ne spada u tu kategoriju. Danielle Rose Collins pedeseta je igračica svijeta i definitivno ne slovi za „anonimusa“ u svijetu ženskog tenisa.

Štoviše, nanizala je nekoliko zapaženih rezultata, prvi još dok je bila samo studentica. Kao članica Sveučilišta u Virginiji dvaput je osvajala NCAA titule u singlu, 2014. i 2016. Relativno kasno odlučila se profesionalno posvetiti tenisu, a prve korake na WTA turnirima napravila je iste godine, nakon što je diplomirala.
