Ukoliko pobijedi Caspera Ruuda hrvatski tenisač Marin Čilić će u jednoj Grand Slam domeni prestići Samprasa, McEnroea, Beckera, Borga, Connorsa, Ashea i mnoge druge svjetske teniske legende.
Naime, izbori li 33-godišnji Čilić finale tada će imati u svojoj kolekciji finala na sva četiri Grand Slam turnira tijekom karijere. Osvojio je US Open 2014. godine, dok je finala igrao u Wimbledonu 2017., a na Australian Openu 2018. godine.
Dakako da su prethodno nabrojani tenisači, kao i jedan dio drugih, osvojili mnogo više Grand Slam titula u karijeri, imali daleko veće brojke od Čilića i globalno gledano ostvarili veće i više uspjeha te ostavili dublji trag, no gleda li se samo tko je barem jednom igrao finale na sva četiri najveća turnira Čilić ulazi u uistinu birano društvo.
Dakako, ispred svih strše Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer i Novak Đoković, a od aktivnih tenisača sa svim finalima se može pohvaliti još samo Andy Murray koji je osvojio Wimbledon i US Open, dok je pet puta igrao finale Australian Opena i jednom Roland Garrosa.
Grand Slam turnir na pariškoj zemlji mnogim je nekadašnjim zvijezdama trn u oku i tamo nisu igrali finale. Takav je primjer Pete Sampras koji je osvojio 14 Grand Slam titula, ali je u Parizu igrao tek polufinale 1996. godine.
U Parizu do finala nije došao ni Boris Becker koji je tamo igrao tri puta polufinale ili Jimmy Connors koji ima sve, ali i četiri polufinala Roland Garrosa. Legende poput Arthura Ashea ili John Newcombea također su sve osvojili, ali u Parizu, primjerice, nisu igrali ni jedno polufinale. Obojica imaju po dva četvrtfinala. U finalima svih Grand Slam turnira je igrao i Leyton Hewitt, ali ne i u Parizu (dva četvrtfinala).
Ni Mats Wilander nije igrao finala na svim Grand Slam turnirima. Kao rupa ostao mu je Wimbledon gdje je igrao tri četvrtfinala, dok je John McEnroe ostao bez finala na Australian Openu gdje je igrao jedno polufinale.
Legendarni Bjoern Borg je dominirao na Roland Garrosu i Wimbledonu, na US Openu je igrao četiri finala, ali zbog neodlazaka ima samo treće kolo na Australian Openu.
Sve je osvojio, ali i igrao jedino dva četvrtfinalna meča u Wimbledonu legendarni Argentinac Guillermo Vilas.
Dakle, slavi li Marin Čilić u petak ostvarit će nešto što su željeli mnogi, ali nisu uspjeli. Uspješni su, pak, bili još Andre Agassi i Rod Laver, koji imaju naslove pobjednika sa sva četiri velika turnira. Najbolji su na tri od četiri bili Stefan Edberg, Ivan Lendl i Ken Rosewall, ali je taj trojac jednako tako ostvario finala i na onom četvrtom gdje su ostali bez trofeja. Edberg je igrao finale Roland Garrosa, Lendl dva wimbledonska finala, kao i Rosewall četiri finala u All England Clubu.
Zanimljivo je reći da finala na sva četiri Grand Slam turnira ima Jim Courier. Osvojio je Australian Open i Roland Garros, dok je po jednom igrao finale Wimbledona i US Opena.
Prije Open Ere sva četiri osvojena Grand Slam turnira imaju tenisači poput Roya Emersona ili, pak, Freda Perryja.

Dakako da su prethodno nabrojani tenisači, kao i jedan dio drugih, osvojili mnogo više Grand Slam titula u karijeri, imali daleko veće brojke od Čilića i globalno gledano ostvarili veće i više uspjeha te ostavili dublji trag, no gleda li se samo tko je barem jednom igrao finale na sva četiri najveća turnira Čilić ulazi u uistinu birano društvo.
Dakako, ispred svih strše Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer i Novak Đoković, a od aktivnih tenisača sa svim finalima se može pohvaliti još samo Andy Murray koji je osvojio Wimbledon i US Open, dok je pet puta igrao finale Australian Opena i jednom Roland Garrosa.
Grand Slam turnir na pariškoj zemlji mnogim je nekadašnjim zvijezdama trn u oku i tamo nisu igrali finale. Takav je primjer Pete Sampras koji je osvojio 14 Grand Slam titula, ali je u Parizu igrao tek polufinale 1996. godine.
U Parizu do finala nije došao ni Boris Becker koji je tamo igrao tri puta polufinale ili Jimmy Connors koji ima sve, ali i četiri polufinala Roland Garrosa. Legende poput Arthura Ashea ili John Newcombea također su sve osvojili, ali u Parizu, primjerice, nisu igrali ni jedno polufinale. Obojica imaju po dva četvrtfinala. U finalima svih Grand Slam turnira je igrao i Leyton Hewitt, ali ne i u Parizu (dva četvrtfinala).
Ni Mats Wilander nije igrao finala na svim Grand Slam turnirima. Kao rupa ostao mu je Wimbledon gdje je igrao tri četvrtfinala, dok je John McEnroe ostao bez finala na Australian Openu gdje je igrao jedno polufinale.
Legendarni Bjoern Borg je dominirao na Roland Garrosu i Wimbledonu, na US Openu je igrao četiri finala, ali zbog neodlazaka ima samo treće kolo na Australian Openu.
Sve je osvojio, ali i igrao jedino dva četvrtfinalna meča u Wimbledonu legendarni Argentinac Guillermo Vilas.
Dakle, slavi li Marin Čilić u petak ostvarit će nešto što su željeli mnogi, ali nisu uspjeli. Uspješni su, pak, bili još Andre Agassi i Rod Laver, koji imaju naslove pobjednika sa sva četiri velika turnira. Najbolji su na tri od četiri bili Stefan Edberg, Ivan Lendl i Ken Rosewall, ali je taj trojac jednako tako ostvario finala i na onom četvrtom gdje su ostali bez trofeja. Edberg je igrao finale Roland Garrosa, Lendl dva wimbledonska finala, kao i Rosewall četiri finala u All England Clubu.
Zanimljivo je reći da finala na sva četiri Grand Slam turnira ima Jim Courier. Osvojio je Australian Open i Roland Garros, dok je po jednom igrao finale Wimbledona i US Opena.
Prije Open Ere sva četiri osvojena Grand Slam turnira imaju tenisači poput Roya Emersona ili, pak, Freda Perryja.
