- Cilj nam je ući u polufinale i vidjeti što možemo tamo učiniti.

Najjednostavnija cesta prema medalji vodi zaobilaznim putem. Izbjegavanje Španjolske prije polufinala čini se, na papiru, manje je težak put do utakmice za medalju.

- Ne. Ako i dođemo u takvu situaciju, nećemo kalkulirati u posljednjoj utakmici kako bismo izbjegli Španjolsku ili neku drugu momčad. Nećemo birati suparnika u nokaut fazi, brinemo se samo za sebe - kaže Calathes kojem je malo nedostajalo da ne dođe na SP.

Naime, pri kraju prošle sezone, njegove prve u Memphisu, NBA ga je kaznio s 20 utakmica neigranja zbog dopingiranja. Iako je još uvijek pod suspenzijom (preostalo mu je 18 utakmica nove sezone), Calathes igra na SP-u jer mu je Fiba izrekla vremensku kaznu, od sredine travnja do sredine kolovoza.

Inače, njegov nalaz bio je pozitivan na Tamoxifen koji se često koristi za prikrivanje testosterona i nekih drugih ozbiljnijih supstanci, ali njihovi tragovi nisu pronađeni. Calathes je presudu nazvao “istinskom nepravdom”, ali on je u Sevilli, gledamo ga kako upravlja igrom grčke reprezentacije.

Grčka je na SP-u bez Spanoulisa, Fotsisa, Schortsanitisa i Perperoglua, ali na rezultatima se to ne primjećuje. Jedini su bez poraza u skupini B, ali još nisu igrali protiv najjačih reprezentacija, Hrvatske i Argentine.

- Veći dio nas je duže vremena dio reprezentacije pa znamo svoje uloge u momčadi, a meni je sjajno što sam ponovno u ekipi. Ova Grčka nije lošija niti od jedne reprezentacije na turniru, pa tako ni Hrvatske. Imate niz kvalitetnih igrača poput Ante Tomića, Bojana Bogdanovića, Olivera Lafayettea pa se ne možemo fokusirati na zaustavljanje samo jednog igrača.

No, Hrvatska je i s takvim igračima izgubila od Senegala s kojim se Grčka lako obračunala.

- Senegal je atletska momčad koju je teško braniti. Obrana će biti jako važna u danima kada nas neće ići šut. U nokaut fazi odlučivat će obrana, šut i malo sreće, a mi napadamo polufinale - optimističan je Calathes.

- Cilj nam je ući u polufinale i vidjeti što možemo tamo učiniti.

Najjednostavnija cesta prema medalji vodi zaobilaznim putem. Izbjegavanje Španjolske prije polufinala čini se, na papiru, manje je težak put do utakmice za medalju.

- Ne. Ako i dođemo u takvu situaciju, nećemo kalkulirati u posljednjoj utakmici kako bismo izbjegli Španjolsku ili neku drugu momčad. Nećemo birati suparnika u nokaut fazi, brinemo se samo za sebe - kaže Calathes kojem je malo nedostajalo da ne dođe na SP.

Naime, pri kraju prošle sezone, njegove prve u Memphisu, NBA ga je kaznio s 20 utakmica neigranja zbog dopingiranja. Iako je još uvijek pod suspenzijom (preostalo mu je 18 utakmica nove sezone), Calathes igra na SP-u jer mu je Fiba izrekla vremensku kaznu, od sredine travnja do sredine kolovoza.

Inače, njegov nalaz bio je pozitivan na Tamoxifen koji se često koristi za prikrivanje testosterona i nekih drugih ozbiljnijih supstanci, ali njihovi tragovi nisu pronađeni. Calathes je presudu nazvao “istinskom nepravdom”, ali on je u Sevilli, gledamo ga kako upravlja igrom grčke reprezentacije.

Grčka je na SP-u bez Spanoulisa, Fotsisa, Schortsanitisa i Perperoglua, ali na rezultatima se to ne primjećuje. Jedini su bez poraza u skupini B, ali još nisu igrali protiv najjačih reprezentacija, Hrvatske i Argentine.

- Veći dio nas je duže vremena dio reprezentacije pa znamo svoje uloge u momčadi, a meni je sjajno što sam ponovno u ekipi. Ova Grčka nije lošija niti od jedne reprezentacije na turniru, pa tako ni Hrvatske. Imate niz kvalitetnih igrača poput Ante Tomića, Bojana Bogdanovića, Olivera Lafayettea pa se ne možemo fokusirati na zaustavljanje samo jednog igrača.

No, Hrvatska je i s takvim igračima izgubila od Senegala s kojim se Grčka lako obračunala.

- Senegal je atletska momčad koju je teško braniti. Obrana će biti jako važna u danima kada nas neće ići šut. U nokaut fazi odlučivat će obrana, šut i malo sreće, a mi napadamo polufinale - optimističan je Calathes.
