Bio je olimpijski pobjednik, te amaterski i profesionalni europski i svjetski prvak. Za mnoge je Parlov bio najveći sportaš bivše Jugoslavije, a svakako je bio najbolji boksač svih vremena na ovim prostorima.

Parlov je bio toliko dobar da je meč s njim priželjkivao i Muhammad Ali, vjerojatno najveći boksač svijeta svih vremena. Bilo je to 1978. godine.

- Uskoro se opraštam od boksa i više bih volio završiti karijeru u susretu sa sjajnim boksačem poput Mate Parlova nego protiv prljavih udarača kao što su George Foreman ili Joe Fraizer. Jugoslavija ima pravog prvaka, Parlov je u ovom trenutku najbolji boksač Europe. Spreman sam za tu borbu, kažu da bi u Jugoslaviji 100.000 ljudi došlo uživo pogledati taj meč. Parlov je brz, ali protiv mene ne bi imao nikakvu šansu. Bio bi to jako lijep meč, ali to je jedino lijepo što bi se Parlovu u tom meču dogodilo - rekao je Ali.

Parlov je svijet posebno zadivio na Olimpijskim igrama u Münchenu 1972. Osvojio je zlato u nezaboravnom finalu protiv Kubanca Gilberta Carrilla. Oba su borca bila nokautirana i na podu, a Parlov je pobijedio nokautom u drugoj rundi, kada je sudac po četvrti put odbrojavao kubanskom boksaču.

Parlov se kao profesionalac 1976. suočio se s budućim deveterostrukim svjetskim prvakom Matthewom Saadom Muhammadom. U njihovoj prvoj borbi u Milanu, dogovorenoj na osam rundi, poražen je nakon odluke sudaca. U ponovnoj borbi s Muhammadom nakon deset rundi nije bilo pobjednika. Svjetski pojas Parlov je zaslužio 7. siječnja 1978. godine pobjedom nad Argentincem Miguelom Angelom Cuellom nokautom u devetoj rundi.

Bio je olimpijski pobjednik, te amaterski i profesionalni europski i svjetski prvak. Za mnoge je Parlov bio najveći sportaš bivše Jugoslavije, a svakako je bio najbolji boksač svih vremena na ovim prostorima.

Parlov je bio toliko dobar da je meč s njim priželjkivao i Muhammad Ali, vjerojatno najveći boksač svijeta svih vremena. Bilo je to 1978. godine.

- Uskoro se opraštam od boksa i više bih volio završiti karijeru u susretu sa sjajnim boksačem poput Mate Parlova nego protiv prljavih udarača kao što su George Foreman ili Joe Fraizer. Jugoslavija ima pravog prvaka, Parlov je u ovom trenutku najbolji boksač Europe. Spreman sam za tu borbu, kažu da bi u Jugoslaviji 100.000 ljudi došlo uživo pogledati taj meč. Parlov je brz, ali protiv mene ne bi imao nikakvu šansu. Bio bi to jako lijep meč, ali to je jedino lijepo što bi se Parlovu u tom meču dogodilo - rekao je Ali.

Do tog meča nikada nije došlo, prenose Sportske novosti.

Parlov je svijet posebno zadivio na Olimpijskim igrama u Münchenu 1972. Osvojio je zlato u nezaboravnom finalu protiv Kubanca Gilberta Carrilla. Oba su borca bila nokautirana i na podu, a Parlov je pobijedio nokautom u drugoj rundi, kada je sudac po četvrti put odbrojavao kubanskom boksaču.

Parlov se kao profesionalac 1976. suočio se s budućim deveterostrukim svjetskim prvakom Matthewom Saadom Muhammadom. U njihovoj prvoj borbi u Milanu, dogovorenoj na osam rundi, poražen je nakon odluke sudaca. U ponovnoj borbi s Muhammadom nakon deset rundi nije bilo pobjednika. Svjetski pojas Parlov je zaslužio 7. siječnja 1978. godine pobjedom nad Argentincem Miguelom Angelom Cuellom nokautom u devetoj rundi.

Bio je olimpijski pobjednik, te amaterski i profesionalni europski i svjetski prvak. Za mnoge je Parlov bio najveći sportaš bivše Jugoslavije, a svakako je bio najbolji boksač svih vremena na ovim prostorima.

Parlov je bio toliko dobar da je meč s njim priželjkivao i Muhammad Ali, vjerojatno najveći boksač svijeta svih vremena. Bilo je to 1978. godine.

- Uskoro se opraštam od boksa i više bih volio završiti karijeru u susretu sa sjajnim boksačem poput Mate Parlova nego protiv prljavih udarača kao što su George Foreman ili Joe Fraizer. Jugoslavija ima pravog prvaka, Parlov je u ovom trenutku najbolji boksač Europe. Spreman sam za tu borbu, kažu da bi u Jugoslaviji 100.000 ljudi došlo uživo pogledati taj meč. Parlov je brz, ali protiv mene ne bi imao nikakvu šansu....
