Znanstvenik prof. dr. Gordan Lauc, koji je i sam ovo ljeto prebolio COVID-19, s lakšim simptomima, izjavio je kako virus u nosu potvrđen PCR testom ne znači da je netko bolestan.
– Još uvijek nije potpuno jasno može li takva osoba širiti virus u dovoljnim količinama da netko oboli nakon kontakta s njom – komentirao je Lauc.
Epidemiolog prof. dr. Branko Kolarić, član Vladina znanstvenog vijeća, objašnjava nam kako se sve osobe kod kojih je pronađen virus smatraju zaraženima, bez obzira jesu li razvile simptome bolesti ili nisu.
Oni koji nisu razvili simptome smatraju se manje zaraznima, ali nipošto se ne može isključiti da nisu daljnji širitelji virusa.
– Sve osobe koje imaju virus u sebi zovemo zaraženima. Neke imaju simptome bolesti kao što su temperatura, kašalj, gubitak okusa i mirisa ili glavobolja, dok drugi nemaju te simptome i zato ih nazivamo asimptomatskim slučajevima. Oni su manje zarazni za druge jer u sebi imaju manje virusa nego oni koji su razvili simptome pa kišu i virus dalje šire. Međutim, i oni virus mogu izlučivati 14 dana i upravo zato mi testiramo kontakte oboljelih ili ih stavljamo u samoizolaciju. Iako su bez simptoma, mogu zaraziti druge koji možda neće reagirati tako blago i asimptomatski kao oni – kaže dr. Kolarić.
Pojašnjava kako se svaka bolest definira s prisutnošću simptoma, no to je, veli, uvijek upitno sa zaraznim bolestima.
– HIV je, primjerice, zarazna bolest kod koje možete nositi deset godina virus a da nemate simptome, a cijelo vrijeme ste zarazni za druge –napominje naš sugovornik.
Također objašnjava kako i kod asimptomatski oboljelih osoba od COVID-19 naknadni serološki test pokazuje da je imunosni sustav razvio protutijela.
– U kontroli zaraznih bolesti upravo je problem što kod nekih bolesti osoba ne zna da je zaražena. U slučaju COVID-a zato kontakte stavljamo u samoizolaciju od dva tjedna, nakon čega više nisu zarazni za svoju okolinu. To je vrlo važno za kontrolu epidemije. Oni, iako nemaju teškoća, mogu biti izvor opasnosti za druge, pogotovo za starije i kronične bolesnike – navodi dr. Branko Kolarić.

Znanstvenik prof. dr. Gordan Lauc, koji je i sam ovo ljeto prebolio COVID-19, s lakšim simptomima, izjavio je kako virus u nosu potvrđen PCR testom ne znači da je netko bolestan.
– Još uvijek nije potpuno jasno može li takva osoba širiti virus u dovoljnim količinama da netko oboli nakon kontakta s njom – komentirao je Lauc.
Epidemiolog prof. dr. Branko Kolarić, član Vladina znanstvenog vijeća, objašnjava nam kako se sve osobe kod kojih je pronađen virus smatraju zaraženima, bez obzira jesu li razvile simptome bolesti ili nisu.
Oni koji nisu razvili simptome smatraju se manje zaraznima, ali nipošto se ne može isključiti da nisu daljnji širitelji virusa.
– Sve osobe koje imaju virus u sebi zovemo zaraženima. Neke imaju simptome bolesti kao što su temperatura, kašalj, gubitak okusa i mirisa ili glavobolja, dok drugi nemaju te simptome i zato ih nazivamo asimptomatskim slučajevima. Oni su manje zarazni za druge jer u sebi imaju manje virusa nego oni koji su razvili simptome pa kišu i virus dalje šire. Međutim, i oni virus mogu izlučivati 14 dana i upravo zato mi testiramo kontakte oboljelih ili ih stavljamo u samoizolaciju. Iako su bez simptoma, mogu zaraziti druge koji možda neće reagirati tako blago i asimptomatski kao oni – kaže dr. Kolarić.
Pojašnjava kako se svaka bolest definira s prisutnošću simptoma, no to je, veli, uvijek upitno sa zaraznim bolestima.
– HIV je, primjerice, zarazna bolest kod koje možete nositi deset godina virus a da nemate simptome, a cijelo vrijeme ste zarazni za druge –napominje naš sugovornik.
Također objašnjava kako i kod asimptomatski oboljelih osoba od COVID-19 naknadni serološki test pokazuje da je imunosni sustav razvio protutijela.
– U kontroli zaraznih bolesti upravo je problem što kod nekih bolesti osoba ne zna da je zaražena. U slučaju COVID-a zato kontakte stavljamo u samoizolaciju od dva tjedna, nakon čega više nisu zarazni za svoju okolinu. To je vrlo važno za kontrolu epidemije. Oni, iako nemaju teškoća, mogu biti izvor opasnosti za druge, pogotovo za starije i kronične bolesnike – navodi dr. Branko Kolarić.
