Mnogi ne znaju da Vaquitasi postoje, a jasno je i zbog čega - to su najmanji morski sisavci na svijetu, a u morima ih pliva samo desetak. Premda stručnjaci godinama upozoravaju da su ovi mali dupini iznimno ugroženi, ništa se nije promijenilo, pa su ove godine izdali i upozorenja za izumiranje. To je prvo takvo u zadnjih 70 godina, što pokazuje koliko je situacija ozbiljna.

Koliko su okolnosti loše za ove malce govore brojke - 1997. godine se procjenjivalo da ih je bilo oko 570 na slobodi. Od tad do danas ionako mala populacija je gotovo pa uništena. Što je kobno za njih? Ribolov čiji cilj zapravo nisu oni, nego ribe totoaba, ali oni su usputne žrtve. Nije država ostala prekriženih ruku - Meksiko se bori protiv ilegalnog lova posebnom vrstom mreža, u kojima stradavaju mnoge nevine žrtve, ali bez uspjeha.

- Smanjenje broja vaquita se nastavilo unatoč vrlo jasnom razumijevanju i uzroka i rješenja. Istrebljenje je neizbježno osim ako se odmah ne maknu sve mreže ove vrste. Ako se to ne dogodi sada, bit će prekasno - objavila je u kolovozu Međunarodna komisija za kitolov, koja je izdala upozorenje pred izumiranje.

Mnogi ne znaju da Vaquitasi postoje, a jasno je i zbog čega - to su najmanji morski sisavci na svijetu, a u morima ih pliva samo desetak. Premda stručnjaci godinama upozoravaju da su ovi mali dupini iznimno ugroženi, ništa se nije promijenilo, pa su ove godine izdali i upozorenja za izumiranje. To je prvo takvo u zadnjih 70 godina, što pokazuje koliko je situacija ozbiljna.

Koliko su okolnosti loše za ove malce govore brojke - 1997. godine se procjenjivalo da ih je bilo oko 570 na slobodi. Od tad do danas ionako mala populacija je gotovo pa uništena. Što je kobno za njih? Ribolov čiji cilj zapravo nisu oni, nego ribe totoaba, ali oni su usputne žrtve. Nije država ostala prekriženih ruku - Meksiko se bori protiv ilegalnog lova posebnom vrstom mreža, u kojima stradavaju mnoge nevine žrtve, ali bez uspjeha.

- Smanjenje broja vaquita se nastavilo unatoč vrlo jasnom razumijevanju i uzroka i rješenja. Istrebljenje je neizbježno osim ako se odmah ne maknu sve mreže ove vrste. Ako se to ne dogodi sada, bit će prekasno - objavila je u kolovozu Međunarodna komisija za kitolov, koja je izdala upozorenje pred izumiranje.

VAQUITASIOvo su najmanji morski sisavci na svijetu, a u divljini ih je ostalo svega desetak

Mnogi ne znaju da Vaquitasi postoje, a jasno je i zbog čega - to su najmanji morski sisavci na svijetu, a u morima ih pliva samo desetak. Premda stručnjaci godinama upozoravaju da su ovi mali dupini iznimno ugroženi, ništa se nije promijenilo, pa su ove godine izdali i upozorenja za izumiranje. To je prvo takvo u zadnjih 70 godina, što pokazuje koliko je situacija ozbiljna.

Koliko su okolnosti loše za ove malce govore brojke - 1997. godine se procjenjivalo da ih je bilo oko 570 na slobodi. Od tad do danas ionako mala populacija je gotovo pa uništena. Što je kobno za njih? Ribolov čiji cilj zapravo nisu oni, nego ribe totoaba, ali oni su usputne žrtve. Nije država ostala prekriženih ruku - Meksiko se bori protiv ilegalnog lova posebnom vrstom mreža, u kojima stradavaju mnoge nevine žrtve, ali bez uspjeha.

- Smanjenje broja vaquita se nastavilo unatoč vrlo jasnom razumijevanju i uzroka i rješenja. Istrebljenje je neizbježno osim ako se odmah ne maknu sve mreže ove vrste. Ako se to ne dogodi sada, bit će prekasno - objavila je u kolovozu Međunarodna komisija za kitolov, koja je izdala upozorenje pred izumiranje.
