Danas, 7. kolovoza, obilježava se međunarodni dan svjetionika. Geopark Viški arhipelag tim povodom objavio je lijep post o dva posebno lijepa i nadaleko poznata svjetionika, onime na Palagruži te na rtu Stončica na otoku Visu.

Svjetionik na Veloj Palagruži najveći je svjetionik na Jadranu. Sagrađen je na nadmorskoj visini od 90 metara.

"U vrijeme gradnje svjetionika na Palagruži 1874. godine otvoren je kamenolom sa sjeverne strane platoa Salamandrija. Ubrzo se pokazalo da će biti nemoguće sagraditi lanternu od palagruškog dolomitnog kamena, jer je previše tvrd i zidari su na njemu oštećivali klesarsku opremu. Vidljivo je da su u zgradu svjetionika ugrađena samo dva reda kamenih blokova od tvrdog palagruškog kamena dolomita. Kada su uvidjeli da daljnja gradnja neće biti moguća, odlučili su nastaviti gradnju korčulanskim kamenom, koji je valjalo prenijeti s Korčule, što je poskupjelo gradnju." Na rtu Stončica na istočnoj obali otoka Visa nalazi se svjetionik s osmerokutnom kamenom kulom sagrađen davne 1865. godine. Visina kule svjetionika je 28 metara, domet glavnog svjetla 30 milja, a rezervnog 12 milja.

Prilikom iznenadnog napada francuskog ratnog broda na Vis (koji se tada nalazio u sastavu Austro – Ugarske) u listopadu 1914. godine, svjetionik je bio teško oštećen u bombardiranju, a oba svjetioničara su poginula. Obnovljen je po završetku Prvog svjetskog rata.

Danas su svi svjetionici automatizirani i nadzirani putem sustava daljinskog nadzora.

Međutim, zbog značaja svjetionika za sigurnost plovidbe, te zaštite svjetioničarskih zgrada od propadanja, na 16 svjetionika se još uvijek nalazi svjetioničarska posada (po 1 ili 2 svjetioničara u smjeni), kako stoji na web stranicama Plovputa. Njih 34 je bez posade.

Danas, 7. kolovoza, obilježava se međunarodni dan svjetionika. Geopark Viški arhipelag tim povodom objavio je lijep post o dva posebno lijepa i nadaleko poznata svjetionika, onime na Palagruži te na rtu Stončica na otoku Visu.

Svjetionik na Veloj Palagruži najveći je svjetionik na Jadranu. Sagrađen je na nadmorskoj visini od 90 metara.

"U vrijeme gradnje svjetionika na Palagruži 1874. godine otvoren je kamenolom sa sjeverne strane platoa Salamandrija. Ubrzo se pokazalo da će biti nemoguće sagraditi lanternu od palagruškog dolomitnog kamena, jer je previše tvrd i zidari su na njemu oštećivali klesarsku opremu. Vidljivo je da su u zgradu svjetionika ugrađena samo dva reda kamenih blokova od tvrdog palagruškog kamena dolomita. Na rtu Stončica na istočnoj obali otoka Visa nalazi se svjetionik s osmerokutnom kamenom kulom sagrađen davne 1865. godine. Visina kule svjetionika je 28 metara, domet glavnog svjetla 30 milja, a rezervnog 12 milja.

Prilikom iznenadnog napada francuskog ratnog broda na Vis (koji se tada nalazio u sastavu Austro – Ugarske) u listopadu 1914. godine, svjetionik je bio teško oštećen u bombardiranju, a oba svjetioničara su poginula. Obnovljen je po završetku Prvog svjetskog rata.

Danas su svi svjetionici automatizirani i nadzirani putem sustava daljinskog nadzora.

Međutim, zbog značaja svjetionika za sigurnost plovidbe, te zaštite svjetioničarskih zgrada od propadanja, na 16 svjetionika se još uvijek nalazi svjetioničarska posada (po 1 ili 2 svjetioničara u smjeni), kako stoji na web stranicama Plovputa. Njih 34 je bez posade.

Danas, 7. kolovoza, obilježava se međunarodni dan svjetionika. Geopark Viški arhipelag tim povodom objavio je lijep post o dva posebno lijepa i nadaleko poznata svjetionika, onime na Palagruži te na rtu Stončica na otoku Visu.

Svjetionik na Veloj Palagruži najveći je svjetionik na Jadranu. Sagrađen je na nadmorskoj visini od 90 metara.

"U vrijeme gradnje svjetionika na Palagruži 1874. godine otvoren je kamenolom sa sjeverne strane platoa Salamandrija. Ubrzo se pokazalo da će biti nemoguće sagraditi lanternu od palagruškog dolomitnog kamena, jer je previše tvrd i zidari su na njemu oštećivali klesarsku opremu. Vidljivo je da su u zgradu svjetionika ugrađena samo dva reda kamenih blokova od tvrdog palagruškog kamena dolomita.
