Istraživači brodskih olupina iz američke tvrtke Odyssey Marine Exploration objavili su u ponedjeljak da su pronašli olupinu britanskog admiralskog broda HMS Victory koji je 1744. potonuo u La Mancheu zajedno s riznicom čija se vrijednost procjenjuje na milijardu dolara.

Lociranjem olupine "najsnažnijeg i tehnički najsavršenijeg broda u svoje vrijeme" daleko od mjesta na kojemu se vjerovalo da je potonuo, riješena je "jedna od najvećih tajna u povijesti pomorstva", ističe u priopćenju Greg Stemm, direktor Odysseyja, sa sjedištem u Tampi, na Floridi, u SAD-u.

HMS Victory potonuo je 1744. godine, zahvaćen olujom dok se vraćao iz Španjolske. Stradalo je svih 1.150 mornara na brodu. Njegova je olupina pronađena gotovo 100 km od mjesta na kojem se vjerovalo da je potonuo - grebena Casquets nedaleko od Kanalskih otoka.

Victory je porinut 1737. Kao što je običaj u britanskoj mornarici, admiralski brod koji ga je zamijenio 1765., dobio je isto ime, a na njemu je Nelson zapovijedao bitkom kod Trafalgara 1805.

Na tiskovnoj konferenciji u Londonu Jason Williams, izvršni producent tvrtke JMW Productions koji je otkriće snimao kamerom, rekao je da su "informacije iz tog vremena govorile kako je brod prevozio četiri tone zlata". Procjenjuje se da vrijednost tog blaga danas iznosi oko milijardu dolara.

Britanska vlada je zakonski vlasnik pronađenog blaga, ali Stemm dodaje da s Londonom pregovara o visini nagrade.

HMS Victory je pronađen u suradnji s britanskim ministarstvom obrane, ali točna lokacija olupine nije objavljena.

Istraživači brodskih olupina iz američke tvrtke Odyssey Marine Exploration objavili su u ponedjeljak da su pronašli olupinu britanskog admiralskog broda HMS Victory koji je 1744. potonuo u La Mancheu zajedno s riznicom čija se vrijednost procjenjuje na milijardu dolara.

Lociranjem olupine "najsnažnijeg i tehnički najsavršenijeg broda u svoje vrijeme" daleko od mjesta na kojemu se vjerovalo da je potonuo, riješena je "jedna od najvećih tajna u povijesti pomorstva", ističe u priopćenju Greg Stemm, direktor Odysseyja, sa sjedištem u Tampi, na Floridi, u SAD-u.

HMS Victory potonuo je 1744. godine, zahvaćen olujom dok se vraćao iz Španjolske. Stradalo je svih 1.150 mornara na brodu. Njegova je olupina pronađena gotovo 100 km od mjesta na kojem se vjerovalo da je potonuo - grebena Casquets nedaleko od Kanalskih otoka.

Victory je porinut 1737. Kao što je običaj u britanskoj mornarici, admiralski brod koji ga je zamijenio 1765., dobio je isto ime, a na njemu je Nelson zapovijedao bitkom kod Trafalgara 1805.

Na tiskovnoj konferenciji u Londonu Jason Williams, izvršni producent tvrtke JMW Productions koji je otkriće snimao kamerom, rekao je da su "informacije iz tog vremena govorile kako je brod prevozio četiri tone zlata". Procjenjuje se da vrijednost tog blaga danas iznosi oko milijardu dolara.

Britanska vlada je zakonski vlasnik pronađenog blaga, ali Stemm dodaje da s Londonom pregovara o visini nagrade.

HMS Victory je pronađen u suradnji s britanskim ministarstvom obrane, ali točna lokacija olupine nije objavljena.
