Melissa Blake rođena je s Freeman-Sheldonovim sindromom, rijetkim genetskim poremećajem kostiju i mišića zbog kojeg ne izgleda poput drugih. Kada je prije nekoliko godina na popularnoj društvenoj mreži Twitter objavila neke od svojih fotografija, zlobni hejteri odmah su ju napali. 

- Trebalo bi joj zabraniti da objavljuje fotografije - napisao je jedan od komentatora na što se nadovezala druga osoba koja je dodala kako Melissin iPhone ne bi trebao snimati selfije.

Snažnu Melissu ovo nije pokolebalo, ona je na njihove komentare uzvratila tako da je objavila tri fotografije pored kojih je napisala kako je se njihovo mišljenje ne tiče.

Od tog trenutka, njezine društvene mreže preplavio je val dobre volje i podrške, a mnogima se svidjelo to što se odlučila suprostaviti komentatorima. Zahvaljujući svojoj upornosti Melissa je negativne komentare uspjela preokrenuti u svoju korist i sada, dvije godine nakon incidenta, zahvaljujući njima i zarađuje. Nedavno je dovršila svoju prvu knjigu, a gostuje i na nekim od najutjecajnijih televizija na svijetu.

- Invalidnosti su loše, one su nešto čega se treba bojati, a osobe s invaliditetom su manje vrijedne. Kad sam bila mlada, uhvatila bih samu sebe da si govorim ove poruke, posebno kao tinejdžerica. Osjećala sam se nedostojno i stalno sam se uspoređivala sa svojim vršnjacima bez invaliditeta. Ali kako sam postajala starija, postajala sam sve sigurnija u svoje tijelo s invaliditetom. I taj novi osjećaj samopouzdanja - i, da, ponos! - pomogli su mi da postanem aktivistica, gurajući se protiv svih onih štetnih, zastarjelih priča o tome kako je živjeti s invaliditetom- kazala je u intervjuu za HealthyWomen. 

Melissa živi u Illinoisu, ali je zbog svoje dobre volje poznata po cijelom SAD-u. Radi kao freelance spisateljica i blogerica. Bavi se muško-ženskim odnosima, invaliditetom i pop kulturom. Pisala je za iznimno utjecajne medije poput The New York Times, The Washington Post, Harper's Bazaar, Good Housekeeping i Glamour.

Melissa Blake rođena je s Freeman-Sheldonovim sindromom, rijetkim genetskim poremećajem kostiju i mišića zbog kojeg ne izgleda poput drugih. Kada je prije nekoliko godina na popularnoj društvenoj mreži Twitter objavila neke od svojih fotografija, zlobni hejteri odmah su ju napali. 

- Trebalo bi joj zabraniti da objavljuje fotografije - napisao je jedan od komentatora na što se nadovezala druga osoba koja je dodala kako Melissin iPhone ne bi trebao snimati selfije.

Snažnu Melissu ovo nije pokolebalo, ona je na njihove komentare uzvratila tako da je objavila tri fotografije pored kojih je napisala kako je se njihovo mišljenje ne tiče.

Od tog trenutka, njezine društvene mreže preplavio je val dobre volje i podrške, a mnogima se svidjelo to što se odlučila suprostaviti komentatorima. Zahvaljujući svojoj upornosti Melissa je negativne komentare uspjela preokrenuti u svoju korist i sada, dvije godine nakon incidenta, zahvaljujući njima i zarađuje. Nedavno je dovršila svoju prvu knjigu, a gostuje i na nekim od najutjecajnijih televizija na svijetu.

- Invalidnosti su loše, one su nešto čega se treba bojati, a osobe s invaliditetom su manje vrijedne. Kad sam bila mlada, uhvatila bih samu sebe da si govorim ove poruke, posebno kao tinejdžerica. Osjećala sam se nedostojno i stalno sam se uspoređivala sa svojim vršnjacima bez invaliditeta. Ali kako sam postajala starija, postajala sam sve sigurnija u svoje tijelo s invaliditetom. I taj novi osjećaj samopouzdanja - i, da, ponos! - pomogli su mi da postanem aktivistica, gurajući se protiv svih onih štetnih, zastarjelih priča o tome kako je živjeti s invaliditetom- kazala je u intervjuu za HealthyWomen. 

Melissa živi u Illinoisu, ali je zbog svoje dobre volje poznata po cijelom SAD-u. Radi kao freelance spisateljica i blogerica. Bavi se muško-ženskim odnosima, invaliditetom i pop kulturom. Pisala je za iznimno utjecajne medije poput The New York Times, The Washington Post, Harper's Bazaar, Good Housekeeping i Glamour.

Melissa Blake rođena je s Freeman-Sheldonovim sindromom, rijetkim genetskim poremećajem kostiju i mišića zbog kojeg ne izgleda poput drugih. Kada je prije nekoliko godina na popularnoj društvenoj mreži Twitter objavila neke od svojih fotografija, zlobni hejteri odmah su ju napali. 

- Trebalo bi joj zabraniti da objavljuje fotografije - napisao je jedan od komentatora na što se nadovezala druga osoba koja je dodala kako Melissin iPhone ne bi trebao snimati selfije. 

Snažnu Melissu ovo nije pokolebalo, ona je na njihove komentare uzvratila tako da je objavila tri fotografije pored kojih je napisala kako je se njihovo mišljenje ne tiče.
