Ne postoji kraljevska loza u kojoj barem jedan pripadnik nije ostao zapamćen po razvratu. Tako je i poznata ruska carica, Katarina II. Velika ostala kroz naraštaje upamćena po izrazito šarolikom ljubavnom životu, premda je jedno vrijeme bila udata za ruskog prijestolonasljednika Petra III.

Kći siromašnog njemačkog princa, rođena je kao njemačka princeza Sofija Augusta Fridrika od Anhalt-Zerbsta, kćerka Kristijana Augusta, kneza Anhalt-Zerbsta. Sazrijevala je u atmosferi intriga i borbe za vlast. Prisiljena na dogovoreni brak s Petrom, Katarina je od samog početka bila nesretna, nosila se s njegovim nezrelim navikama i problemom s alkoholom. Jedan znak Petrovog dječjeg stanja očitovao se u njegovoj opsjednutosti igranjem s figuricama vojnika.

To je Katarinu ostavilo usamljenom - čak i nakon što je rodila njihova sina Paula 1754. (neki su dovodili u pitanje djetetovo očinstvo) - budući da je teta Petra III. Elizabeta, tadašnja vladarica, odvela dijete da ga podigne.

Izvanbračne veze postale su dio njihove bračne svakodnevnice — Katarina je imala vezu s ruskim vojnim časnikom Sergejem Saltykovim, za vrijeme koje je rodila još troje djece, a vjeruje se da nijednom otac nije bio Petar III. Smatra se da je Saltykov bio otac barem jednog ili više njezine djece.

Još jedan ljubavnik, Stanislaus Poniatowski, bio je ocem jednoj od njezinih kćeri, a vjeruje se da je ruski poručnik Grigorij Orlov otac jednog od sinova.

Ni za života Katarina II. nije mogla pobjeći od priče o svom ljubavnom životu. Postoje priče o njoj povezane s nimfomanijom, bestijalnošću, voajerstvom - pa čak i ljubavlju prema erotskom namještaju. A možda najozloglašeniji mit je da je umrla vodeći ljubav s konjem. U stvari, umrla je nakon što je pretrpjela moždani udar u 67. godini 1796. godine.

Tvrdi se da je u svojoj sobi imala kutak ograđen zavjesom u kojem je boravila sa svojim ljubavnicima, kao i da je ljubovala s nekoliko ljubavnika u isto vrijeme. Od njih se očekivalo da ispune njezine potrebe kad god je to potrebno. Ljubavnike je birala pažljivo, a dvorski liječnik provjeravao je imaju li spolno prenosivih bolesti.

Govorila je da joj šest puta dnevno treba zabava u krevetu. Bogato je nagrađivala svoje ljubavnike – titulama, dvorcima, posjedima, slugama.

Ne postoji kraljevska loza u kojoj barem jedan pripadnik nije ostao zapamćen po razvratu. Tako je i poznata ruska carica, Katarina II. Velika ostala kroz naraštaje upamćena po izrazito šarolikom ljubavnom životu, premda je jedno vrijeme bila udata za ruskog prijestolonasljednika Petra III.

Kći siromašnog njemačkog princa, rođena je kao njemačka princeza Sofija Augusta Fridrika od Anhalt-Zerbsta, kćerka Kristijana Augusta, kneza Anhalt-Zerbsta. Sazrijevala je u atmosferi intriga i borbe za vlast. Prisiljena na dogovoreni brak s Petrom, Katarina je od samog početka bila nesretna, nosila se s njegovim nezrelim navikama i problemom s alkoholom. Jedan znak Petrovog dječjeg stanja očitovao se u njegovoj opsjednutosti igranjem s figuricama vojnika.

To je Katarinu ostavilo usamljenom - čak i nakon što je rodila njihova sina Paula 1754. (neki su dovodili u pitanje djetetovo očinstvo) - budući da je teta Petra III. Elizabeta, tadašnja vladarica, odvela dijete da ga podigne.

Izvanbračne veze postale su dio njihove bračne svakodnevnice — Katarina je imala vezu s ruskim vojnim časnikom Sergejem Saltykovim, za vrijeme koje je rodila još troje djece, a vjeruje se da nijednom otac nije bio Petar III. Smatra se da je Saltykov bio otac barem jednog ili više njezine djece.

Još jedan ljubavnik, Stanislaus Poniatowski, bio je ocem jednoj od njezinih kćeri, a vjeruje se da je ruski poručnik Grigorij Orlov otac jednog od sinova.

Ni za života Katarina II. nije mogla pobjeći od priče o svom ljubavnom životu. Postoje priče o njoj povezane s nimfomanijom, bestijalnošću, voajerstvom - pa čak i ljubavlju prema erotskom namještaju. A možda najozloglašeniji mit je da je umrla vodeći ljubav s konjem. U stvari, umrla je nakon što je pretrpjela moždani udar u 67. godini 1796. godine.

Tvrdi se da je u svojoj sobi imala kutak ograđen zavjesom u kojem je boravila sa svojim ljubavnicima, kao i da je ljubovala s nekoliko ljubavnika u isto vrijeme. Od njih se očekivalo da ispune njezine potrebe kad god je to potrebno. Ljubavnike je birala pažljivo, a dvorski liječnik provjeravao je imaju li spolno prenosivih bolesti.

Govorila je da joj šest puta dnevno treba zabava u krevetu. Bogato je nagrađivala svoje ljubavnike – titulama, dvorcima, posjedima, slugama.
