"Mladiću, izrađuj stvari, izrađuj modne ukrase, izrađuj cipele!"
Iako svoju slavu, jednim dijelom može zahvaliti glumici Sarah Jessici Parker i liku Carrie Bradshaw, Manolo Blahnik s razlogom je nakon pedeset godina karijere jedan od najpoznatijih i najcjenjenijih modnih imena kada su cipele u pitanju.
S 27 godina, Manolo se, kao rođeni Španjolac, nakon kratkog životnog perioda u Parizu preselio u London gdje je pisao za mušku verziju časopisa Vogue. Jednom prilikom sreo je Dianu Vreeland, glavnu urednicu U.S Voguea, dok je putovao u New York. Mladi Manolo predstavio joj je tada svoj portfolio s radovima iz mode i scenografije, a oduševljena Vreeland ohrabrila ga je rečenicom: "Mladiću, izrađuj stvari, izrađuj modne ukrase, izrađuj cipele!"
Blahnik je slijedio njezin savjet i život posvetio dizajniranju cipela zbog kojih danas malo koja žena na svijetu ne reagira barem na neki način na njegovo ime.

Modna inspiracija
Jedna od Blahnikovih najvećih inspiracija bila je njegova majka.
Blahnik i njegova obitelj često su putovali u Pariz i Madrid gdje su kupovali svoju odjeću. Njegova majka uvijek je bila nezadovoljna cipelama iz njihovog rodnog grada, pa ih je često puta sama pravila. Osnove zanata naučila je od lokalnog postolara, a svoju ljubav prema lijepim cipelama prenijela je i na svoga sina.
Kasnije, tijekom studija, Blahnik je živio s ujakom i tetom, koja je također duboko utjecala na njegov modni smisao i stil. Uz nju, Blahnik je naučio cijeniti ljepotu luksuza, umjetnosti i sreće.
Zanimljivo je da se Blahnik nikada formalno nije školovao za dizajnera, a svoje znanje stekao je posjećujući tvornice cipela i razgovarajući s postolarima, dizajnerima i radnicama u tvornicama. Isprva je dizajnirao mušku obuću, ali brzo je ustanovio da dizajn muške cipele ograničava njegovu maštu zbog čega se usredotočio na dizajniranje cipela za žene.

Iako svoju slavu, jednim dijelom može zahvaliti glumici Sarah Jessici Parker i liku Carrie Bradshaw, Manolo Blahnik s razlogom je nakon pedeset godina karijere jedan od najpoznatijih i najcjenjenijih modnih imena kada su cipele u pitanju.
S 27 godina, Manolo se, kao rođeni Španjolac, nakon kratkog životnog perioda u Parizu preselio u London gdje je pisao za mušku verziju časopisa Vogue. Jednom prilikom sreo je Dianu Vreeland, glavnu urednicu U.S Voguea, dok je putovao u New York. Mladi Manolo predstavio joj je tada svoj portfolio s radovima iz mode i scenografije, a oduševljena Vreeland ohrabrila ga je rečenicom: "Mladiću, izrađuj stvari, izrađuj modne ukrase, izrađuj cipele!"

Modna inspiracija
Jedna od Blahnikovih najvećih inspiracija bila je njegova majka.
Blahnik i njegova obitelj često su putovali u Pariz i Madrid gdje su kupovali svoju odjeću. Njegova majka uvijek je bila nezadovoljna cipelama iz njihovog rodnog grada, pa ih je često puta sama pravila. Osnove zanata naučila je od lokalnog postolara, a svoju ljubav prema lijepim cipelama prenijela je i na svoga sina.
Kasnije, tijekom studija, Blahnik je živio s ujakom i tetom, koja je također duboko utjecala na njegov modni smisao i stil. Uz nju, Blahnik je naučio cijeniti ljepotu luksuza, umjetnosti i sreće.
Zanimljivo je da se Blahnik nikada formalno nije školovao za dizajnera, a svoje znanje stekao je posjećujući tvornice cipela i razgovarajući s postolarima, dizajnerima i radnicama u tvornicama. Isprva je dizajnirao mušku obuću, ali brzo je ustanovio da dizajn muške cipele ograničava njegovu maštu zbog čega se usredotočio na dizajniranje cipela za žene.
