Šteta na građevinama bila je ogromna, a Dubrovčani su mislili da će Srđ pasti na njih. U znak zahvalnosti što se nije dogodila puno veća tragedija, Dubrovački senat odlučio je sagraditi crkvicu uz franjevački samostan i posvetiti je blagdanu Spasova (Uzašašća), pa se na taj dan održavala i procesija.
Radovi na izgradnji povjereni su korčulanskom majstoru Petru Andrijiću, koji je između zidina i samostana podigao crkvu u renesansnom stilu. Kad je 147 godina kasnije, 6. travnja 1667., katastrofalan potres pogodio Grad, crkva sv. Spasa bila je jedna od rijetkih građevina koja gotovo nije pretrpjela nikakvu štetu, što je bilo ravno čudu.

{OCMSplitter}Na današnji dan prije točno 500 godina, 17. svibnja 1520. godine, dogodio se u Dubrovniku veliki potres u kojem je poginulo 20 ljudi. Šteta na građevinama bila je ogromna, a Dubrovčani su mislili da će Srđ pasti na njih. U znak zahvalnosti što se nije dogodila puno veća tragedija, Dubrovački senat odlučio je sagraditi crkvicu uz franjevački samostan i posvetiti je blagdanu Spasova (Uzašašća), pa se na taj dan održavala i procesija.
Radovi na izgradnji povjereni su korčulanskom majstoru Petru Andrijiću, koji je između zidina i samostana podigao crkvu u renesansnom stilu. Kad je 147 godina kasnije, 6. travnja 1667., katastrofalan potres pogodio Grad, crkva sv. Spasa bila je jedna od rijetkih građevina koja gotovo nije pretrpjela nikakvu štetu, što je bilo ravno čudu.
