Dok potraga za nestalom podmornicom Titan s pet putnika oživljava sjećanja na jednu od najvećih pomorskih tragedija svijeta, informacije o neodgovornom ponašanju kompanije OceanGate prerastaju u jedan od najgorih skandala u jednom od najelitnijih turističkih biznisa na planetu, piše Jutarnji list. 

Naime, izazovni posjet olupini Titanica 3700 metara ispod površine mora može se, kad su u pitanju turisti, usporediti još jedino s putovanjima u svemir, a sada se ispostavilo kako slavna podmornica uopće nema certifikat za zarone na tako velike dubine, nego samo do 1300 metara. Taj podatak rekonstruirao je The New Republic istražujući slučaj Davida Lochridgea, pilota podmornice i nekadašnjeg direktora za pomorske operacije OceanGatea ‘odgovornog za sigurnost posade i klijenata‘.

Lochridge je dobio otkaz u OceanGateu jer je odbijao dati zeleno svjetlo za testiranje podmornice s ljudskom posudom, iako se ispostavilo da je za to imao jako dobre razloge. Kompanija ga je proglasila lažnim zviždačem uz mutna tehnička obrazloženja zašto im je Lochridgevo „zanovijetanje“ bilo neprihvatljivo. Lochridge se suočavao s neprijateljskim stavom i odbijanjem dijela zaposlenika da mu isporuče dokumentaciju koja bi mu trebala biti slobodno dostupna.

Verbalno je u više navrata upozoravao na pitanja sigurnosti Titana pred menadžerima OceanGatea, i to o različitim i potencijalno vrlo ozbiljnim problemima te je preporučio korektivne akcije. Tražio je specifična testiranja trupa na raslojavanje, pozornost i prijanjanje ljepila, ali su ga odbili uz obrazloženje kako oprema za testiranje toga što traži ne postoji. Lochridge je izdao zabrinjavajući službeni inspekcijski izvještaj koji je izazvao izvanredni sastanak glavnog izvršnog direktora, HR direktora, direktora inženjeringa i Lochridgea.

Taj sastanak je za Lochridgea bio poprilično iznenađenje jer je shvatio zbog čega su mu odbijali dati pristup informacijama Odjela za inženjering. New Republic piše: „…vidikovac na prednjoj strani podmornice izgrađen je samo za certificirani tlak od 1300 metara, iako je OceanGate namjeravao odvesti putnike do dubine od 4000 metara. Lochridge je doznao da će proizvođač prozora za promatranje certificirati samo do dubine od 1300 metara zbog eksperimentalnog dizajna prozora za promatranje koji je isporučio OceanGate, a koji je bio izvan standarda tlačnih posuda za ljudske prostore (‘PVHO‘). OceanGate je odbio platiti proizvođaču izradu prozora koji bi zadovoljio traženu dubinu od 4000 metara."

Turistički aranžman OceanGatea, koji uključuje obilazak olupine Titanica na dubini od oko 3700 metara specijalnom podmornicom, košta 250.000 dolara. Tri turista trenutačno se nalaze zarobljeni negdje u nestaloj podmornici. Turistima OceanGate ne govori da nisu dobili certifikat za zarone dublje od 1300 metara. Titanic leži u međunarodnim vodama, pa ne postoji propis koji bi obvezao OceanGate da turistima govori istinu, nego može prodavati narative o ‘vrhunskoj znanosti‘ i ‘istraživanjima‘, iako u osnovi prodaju neodgovorni avanturizam jer su škrtarili na dijelovima, što je njihov glavni izvršni direktor predstavljao kao znak svoje dosjetljivosti i probijanja granica.

Dok potraga za nestalom podmornicom Titan s pet putnika oživljava sjećanja na jednu od najvećih pomorskih tragedija svijeta, informacije o neodgovornom ponašanju kompanije OceanGate prerastaju u jedan od najgorih skandala u jednom od najelitnijih turističkih biznisa na planetu, piše Jutarnji list. 

Naime, izazovni posjet olupini Titanica 3700 metara ispod površine mora može se, kad su u pitanju turisti, usporediti još jedino s putovanjima u svemir, a sada se ispostavilo kako slavna podmornica uopće nema certifikat za zarone na tako velike dubine, nego samo do 1300 metara. Taj podatak rekonstruirao je The New Republic istražujući slučaj Davida Lochridgea, pilota podmornice i nekadašnjeg direktora za pomorske operacije OceanGatea ‘odgovornog za sigurnost posade i klijenata‘.

Lochridge je dobio otkaz u OceanGateu jer je odbijao dati zeleno svjetlo za testiranje podmornice s ljudskom posudom, iako se ispostavilo da je za to imao jako dobre razloge. Kompanija ga je proglasila lažnim zviždačem uz mutna tehnička obrazloženja zašto im je Lochridgevo „zanovijetanje“ bilo neprihvatljivo. Lochridge se suočavao s neprijateljskim stavom i odbijanjem dijela zaposlenika da mu isporuče dokumentaciju koja bi mu trebala biti slobodno dostupna.

Verbalno je u više navrata upozoravao na pitanja sigurnosti Titana pred menadžerima OceanGatea, i to o različitim i potencijalno vrlo ozbiljnim problemima te je preporučio korektivne akcije. Tražio je specifična testiranja trupa na raslojavanje, pozornost i prijanjanje ljepila, ali su ga odbili uz obrazloženje kako oprema za testiranje toga što traži ne postoji. Lochridge je izdao zabrinjavajući službeni inspekcijski izvještaj koji je izazvao izvanredni sastanak glavnog izvršnog direktora, HR direktora, direktora inženjeringa i Lochridgea.

Taj sastanak je za Lochridgea bio poprilično iznenađenje jer je shvatio zbog čega su mu odbijali dati pristup informacijama Odjela za inženjering. New Republic piše: „…vidikovac na prednjoj strani podmornice izgrađen je samo za certificirani tlak od 1300 metara, iako je OceanGate namjeravao odvesti putnike do dubine od 4000 metara. Lochridge je doznao da će proizvođač prozora za promatranje certificirati samo do dubine od 1300 metara zbog eksperimentalnog dizajna prozora za promatranje koji je isporučio OceanGate, a koji je bio izvan standarda tlačnih posuda za ljudske prostore (‘PVHO‘). OceanGate je odbio platiti proizvođaču izradu prozora koji bi zadovoljio traženu dubinu od 4000 metara."

Turistički aranžman OceanGatea, koji uključuje obilazak olupine Titanica na dubini od oko 3700 metara specijalnom podmornicom, košta 250.000 dolara. Tri turista trenutačno se nalaze zarobljeni negdje u nestaloj podmornici. Turistima OceanGate ne govori da nisu dobili certifikat za zarone dublje od 1300 metara. Titanic leži u međunarodnim vodama, pa ne postoji propis koji bi obvezao OceanGate da turistima govori istinu, nego može prodavati narative o ‘vrhunskoj znanosti‘ i ‘istraživanjima‘, iako u osnovi prodaju neodgovorni avanturizam jer su škrtarili na dijelovima, što je njihov glavni izvršni direktor predstavljao kao znak svoje dosjetljivosti i probijanja granica.
