Prema najnovijoj studiji objavljenoj u uglednom medicinskom časopisu The New England Journal of Medicine, novi imunoterapijski lijek dostarlimab, kojim se liječio tumor rektuma, pokazao je senzacionalne rezultate, donosi Slobodna Dalmacija.

Iako se radi o istraživanju samo sa 12 pacijenata koji su imali poodmakli karcinom rektuma, liječnici su iznimno zadovoljni jer je kod svih njih tumor nestao, pri čemu nije bilo nikakvih značajnijih nuspojava.

- Vjerujem da je ovo prvi put da se ovo dogodilo u povijesti raka –zadovoljno je izjavio medicinski onkolog Luis Diaz Jr. za New York Times.

Pacijenti su primali dostarlimab, odnosno lijek koji se prodaje pod robnom markom Jemperli, svaka tri tjedna tijekom šest mjeseci. Nakon dodatnih šest mjeseci praćenja, kod svih 12 pacijenata iz ispitivanja, nije pronađen dokaz o postojanju tumora koji bi se mogli vidjeti putem MRI skeniranja, PET skeniranja, endoskopije i biopsije. Novi lijek razvio je Tesaro, američka biotehnološka kompanija koju je farmaceutski div GlaxoSmithKline 2019. godine kupio za 5.1 milijardu dolara

Dr. Andrea Cercek, onkologinja u centru Memorial Sloan Kettering i voditeljica studije, komentirala je povijesne rezultate istraživanja u razgovoru za CNN te priznala da liječnici nisu očekivali takav uspjeh.

"Ovakvo nešto nismo nikad ranije vidjeli. Onkolozi sanjaju o ovakvim rezultatima", rekla je Cercek.

Pacijenti koji su liječeni ovom terapijom imali su tumore s genetskim mutacijama zvanim MMRd, a oboljeli s takvim tumorima obično slabije reagiraju na kemoterapiju i zračenje, što povećava potrebu za kirurškim uklanjanjem tumora.

 - Standardni tretman raka rektuma kirurškim zahvatom, zračenjem i kemoterapijom može biti posebno težak za ljude zbog lokacije tumora. Mogu patiti od disfunkcije crijeva i mokraćnog mjehura koja im mijenja život, inkontinencije, neplodnosti, seksualne disfunkcije i još mnogo toga – objasnila je onkologinja Andrea Cercek.

Jedan od pacijenata koji je uključen u ispitivanje, Sascha Roth, objasnio je kako su mu liječnici pokazali dokumentaciju i rekli da nisu pronašli nikakve znakove raka te da nema razloga ići na terapiju zračenjem.

Najvećim uspjehom znanosti i medicine u posljednjih 20 godina smatra se upravo otkriće i razvoj imunoterapija u svrhu liječenja različitih vrsta karcinoma.

Dr. Cercek istaknula je kako dostarlimab otključava prirodni imunološki sustav tijela i omogućava mu da se bori s tumorom. „Lijek djeluje na specifične stanice raka kojima nedostaje gen koji im omogućava da poprave vlastiti DNA, što u konačnici vodi do mutacija, navela je.

"Kad dajemo imunoterapijski lijek kao što je dostarlimab, imunološki sustav može uočiti stanice tumora i riješiti ih se. Ono što je toliko fascinantno je da je novi lijek potpuno eliminirao rak, tumor je naprosto nestao", konstatirala je liječnica.

Znanstvenici podsjećaju kako ovi zapanjujući rezultati predstavljaju ogroman pomak u liječenju ove vrste karcinoma, ali isto tako ukazuju da se moraju potvrditi u daljnjim istraživanjima budući se studija provedena na samo 12 pacijenata ne može smatrati konačnom istinom zbog malog uzorka. Treba provesti studije na znatno većem broju ispitanika kako bi se potvrdila učinkovitost i sigurnost ovog potencijalno revolucionarnog lijeka.

Prema najnovijoj studiji objavljenoj u uglednom medicinskom časopisu The New England Journal of Medicine, novi imunoterapijski lijek dostarlimab, kojim se liječio tumor rektuma, pokazao je senzacionalne rezultate, donosi Slobodna Dalmacija.

Iako se radi o istraživanju samo sa 12 pacijenata koji su imali poodmakli karcinom rektuma, liječnici su iznimno zadovoljni jer je kod svih njih tumor nestao, pri čemu nije bilo nikakvih značajnijih nuspojava.

- Vjerujem da je ovo prvi put da se ovo dogodilo u povijesti raka –zadovoljno je izjavio medicinski onkolog Luis Diaz Jr. za New York Times.

Pacijenti su primali dostarlimab, odnosno lijek koji se prodaje pod robnom markom Jemperli, svaka tri tjedna tijekom šest mjeseci. Nakon dodatnih šest mjeseci praćenja, kod svih 12 pacijenata iz ispitivanja, nije pronađen dokaz o postojanju tumora koji bi se mogli vidjeti putem MRI skeniranja, PET skeniranja, endoskopije i biopsije. Dr. Andrea Cercek, onkologinja u centru Memorial Sloan Kettering i voditeljica studije, komentirala je povijesne rezultate istraživanja u razgovoru za CNN te priznala da liječnici nisu očekivali takav uspjeh.

"Ovakvo nešto nismo nikad ranije vidjeli. Onkolozi sanjaju o ovakvim rezultatima", rekla je Cercek.

Pacijenti koji su liječeni ovom terapijom imali su tumore s genetskim mutacijama zvanim MMRd, a oboljeli s takvim tumorima obično slabije reagiraju na kemoterapiju i zračenje, što povećava potrebu za kirurškim uklanjanjem tumora.

 - Standardni tretman raka rektuma kirurškim zahvatom, zračenjem i kemoterapijom može biti posebno težak za ljude zbog lokacije tumora. Mogu patiti od disfunkcije crijeva i mokraćnog mjehura koja im mijenja život, inkontinencije, neplodnosti, seksualne disfunkcije i još mnogo toga – objasnila je onkologinja Andrea Cercek.

Jedan od pacijenata koji je uključen u ispitivanje, Sascha Roth, objasnio je kako su mu liječnici pokazali dokumentaciju i rekli da nisu pronašli nikakve znakove raka te da nema razloga ići na terapiju zračenjem.

Najvećim uspjehom znanosti i medicine u posljednjih 20 godina smatra se upravo otkriće i razvoj imunoterapija u svrhu liječenja različitih vrsta karcinoma.

Dr. Cercek istaknula je kako dostarlimab otključava prirodni imunološki sustav tijela i omogućava mu da se bori s tumorom. „Lijek djeluje na specifične stanice raka kojima nedostaje gen koji im omogućava da poprave vlastiti DNA, što u konačnici vodi do mutacija, navela je.

"Kad dajemo imunoterapijski lijek kao što je dostarlimab, imunološki sustav može uočiti stanice tumora i riješiti ih se. Ono što je toliko fascinantno je da je novi lijek potpuno eliminirao rak, tumor je naprosto nestao", konstatirala je liječnica.

Znanstvenici podsjećaju kako ovi zapanjujući rezultati predstavljaju ogroman pomak u liječenju ove vrste karcinoma, ali isto tako ukazuju da se moraju potvrditi u daljnjim istraživanjima budući se studija provedena na samo 12 pacijenata ne može smatrati konačnom istinom zbog malog uzorka. Treba provesti studije na znatno većem broju ispitanika kako bi se potvrdila učinkovitost i sigurnost ovog potencijalno revolucionarnog lijeka.

- Do tog trenutka, moramo se odnositi prema trenutačnim sjajnim rezultatima s optimizmom i oprezom – ocijenila je onkologinja Hanna K. Sanoff sa Sveučilišta Sjeverne Karoline.

Prema najnovijoj studiji objavljenoj u uglednom medicinskom časopisu The New England Journal of Medicine, novi imunoterapijski lijek dostarlimab, kojim se liječio tumor rektuma, pokazao je senzacionalne rezultate, donosi Slobodna Dalmacija.

Iako se radi o istraživanju samo sa 12 pacijenata koji su imali poodmakli karcinom rektuma, liječnici su iznimno zadovoljni jer je kod svih njih tumor nestao, pri čemu nije bilo nikakvih značajnijih nuspojava.

- Vjerujem da je ovo prvi put da se ovo dogodilo u povijesti raka –zadovoljno je izjavio medicinski onkolog Luis Diaz Jr. za New York Times.

Pacijenti su primali dostarlimab, odnosno lijek koji se prodaje pod robnom markom Jemperli, svaka tri tjedna tijekom šest mjeseci. Nakon dodatnih šest mjeseci praćenja, kod svih 12 pacijenata iz ispitivanja, nije pronađen dokaz o postojanju tumora koji bi se mogli vidjeti putem MRI skeniranja, PET skeniranja, endoskopije i biopsije.
