Policijski sad uveden je u ponedjeljak u Šri Lanki nakon nasilja u trgovinskoj prijestolnici Colombu koje je izbilo nakon sukoba provladinih pristaša i prosvjednika koji traže ostavke predsjednika Gotabaye Rajapakse i njegovog brata, premijera Mahinde Rajapakse.

Policijski sat odnosi se na tu cijelu otočnu državu s 22 milijuna stanovnika, priopćio je glasnogovornik policije, a predsjednik i premijer su pozvali na mir.

Provjedi protiv vlade traju već tjednima, a na tisuće ih traži da Rajapaksa i njegova utjecajna obitelj siđu s vlasti zbog lošeg vođenja gospodarstva, javlja Reuters i podsjeća da se zemlja suočava s povećanjem životnih troškova i nestašicom goriva, lijekova i plina.

U ponedjeljak su se pristaše vladajuće stranke okupili ispred ureda premijera i uputili se prema predsjedničkom uredu ispred kojeg su se okupili protivladini prosvjednici. Policija je na vrijeme formirala koridor između dvije strane, ali je malo učinila kako bi spriječila napredovanje skupine vladinih pristaša od kojih su neki bili oboružani željeznim šipkama.

Ovo je prvi veći sukob dviju strana, a policija je naposljetku morala upotrijebiti suzavce i vodene topove.

U sukobu je ozlijeđeno devet ljudi.

Predsjednik države Rajapaksa proglasio je u petak izvanredno stanje čime je proširio ovlasti vojske usred povećanog broja prosvjeda protiv vlade.

Proglas izvanrednog stanja vojsci daje ovlasti da uhićuje i pritvara ljude te kontrolira javne prosvjede, što je inače isključivo nadležnost policije. Predsjednik se odlučio na taj potez nakon što je opći štrajk diljem Šri Lanke onesposobio škole, javnu upravu i trgovinu.

Policijski sad uveden je u ponedjeljak u Šri Lanki nakon nasilja u trgovinskoj prijestolnici Colombu koje je izbilo nakon sukoba provladinih pristaša i prosvjednika koji traže ostavke predsjednika Gotabaye Rajapakse i njegovog brata, premijera Mahinde Rajapakse.

Policijski sat odnosi se na tu cijelu otočnu državu s 22 milijuna stanovnika, priopćio je glasnogovornik policije, a predsjednik i premijer su pozvali na mir.

Provjedi protiv vlade traju već tjednima, a na tisuće ih traži da Rajapaksa i njegova utjecajna obitelj siđu s vlasti zbog lošeg vođenja gospodarstva, javlja Reuters i podsjeća da se zemlja suočava s povećanjem životnih troškova i nestašicom goriva, lijekova i plina.

U ponedjeljak su se pristaše vladajuće stranke okupili ispred ureda premijera i uputili se prema predsjedničkom uredu ispred kojeg su se okupili protivladini prosvjednici. Policija je na vrijeme formirala koridor između dvije strane, ali je malo učinila kako bi spriječila napredovanje skupine vladinih pristaša od kojih su neki bili oboružani željeznim šipkama.

Ovo je prvi veći sukob dviju strana, a policija je naposljetku morala upotrijebiti suzavce i vodene topove.

U sukobu je ozlijeđeno devet ljudi.

Predsjednik države Rajapaksa proglasio je u petak izvanredno stanje čime je proširio ovlasti vojske usred povećanog broja prosvjeda protiv vlade.

Proglas izvanrednog stanja vojsci daje ovlasti da uhićuje i pritvara ljude te kontrolira javne prosvjede, što je inače isključivo nadležnost policije. Predsjednik se odlučio na taj potez nakon što je opći štrajk diljem Šri Lanke onesposobio škole, javnu upravu i trgovinu.
