Humanitarna pomoć Tongi povećava se nakon što je zračna luka očišćena od pepela, te je sigurna za slijetanje zrakoplova, priopćio je Crveni križ u srijedu, desetak dana nakon vulkanske erupcije i cunamija koji su opustošili južnopacifički arhipelag.

Međunarodna federacija društava Crvenog križa i Crvenog polumjeseca (IFRC) priopćila je da s dodatnim zalihama njezino osoblje i volonteri pojačavaju isporuku pitke vode i postavljaju skloništa na brojnim otocima u zemlji.

"Ova katastrofa potresla je narod Tonge kao ništa dosad", rekla je Sione Taumoefolau, glavna tajnica Crvenog križa Tonge u priopćenju. "Cunami je izbrisao kuće i sela, ali mi se već obnavljamo usred pepela".

Američka agencija za međunarodni razvoj (USAID) priopćila je da Sjedinjene Države osiguravaju dodatnih 2,5 milijuna dolara humanitarne pomoći, a razarač USS Sampson, dio multinacionalnih napora, stigao je ovog tjedna da podrži humanitarne operacije u Tongi.

Australski ratni brod stigao je u Tongu u kojoj nema koronavirusa u srijedu navečer, isporučujući pomoć bez kontakta s ljudima nakon što je među posadom zabilježeno dvadesetak slučajeva covida-19.

Radio Broadcom Broadcasting citirao je ministra zdravstva Tonge Saia Piukala koji je rekao da je na brodu HMAS Adelaide prijavljeno 29 pozitivnih slučajeva, ali ni jedan zaraženi nema simptoma.

"Brod će pristati i neće biti nikakvih kontakata", rekao je Piukala. "Australci s broda iskrcat će svoj teret i isploviti iz luke."

Ujedinjeni narodi, Crveni križ i druge humanitarne agencije na terenu u Tongi upozorile su da bi epidemija covida-19 na otoku u ovom trenutku bila katastrofalna.

"Hitno je potrebno da ljudi imaju pristup sigurnim izvorima vode u danima i tjednima koji dolaze", rekla je Taumoefolau. "Pepeo se nataložio u spremnicima za vodu, potrebno je vrijeme da da se slegne i pažljivo tretira prije upotrebe. Također je prekrio veći dio zemlje, uključujući kuće i usjeve."

Erupcija vulkana Hunga Tonga-Hunga Ha'apai izazvala je cunami koji je uništio sela i resorte te prekinuo komunikaciju u državi od oko 105.000 ljudi. Prijavljeno je da su tri osobe smrtno stradale, priopćile su vlasti.

Humanitarna pomoć Tongi povećava se nakon što je zračna luka očišćena od pepela, te je sigurna za slijetanje zrakoplova, priopćio je Crveni križ u srijedu, desetak dana nakon vulkanske erupcije i cunamija koji su opustošili južnopacifički arhipelag.

Međunarodna federacija društava Crvenog križa i Crvenog polumjeseca (IFRC) priopćila je da s dodatnim zalihama njezino osoblje i volonteri pojačavaju isporuku pitke vode i postavljaju skloništa na brojnim otocima u zemlji.

"Ova katastrofa potresla je narod Tonge kao ništa dosad", rekla je Sione Taumoefolau, glavna tajnica Crvenog križa Tonge u priopćenju. "Cunami je izbrisao kuće i sela, ali mi se već obnavljamo usred pepela".

Američka agencija za međunarodni razvoj (USAID) priopćila je da Sjedinjene Države osiguravaju dodatnih 2,5 milijuna dolara humanitarne pomoći, a razarač USS Sampson, dio multinacionalnih napora, stigao je ovog tjedna da podrži humanitarne operacije u Tongi.

Australski ratni brod stigao je u Tongu u kojoj nema koronavirusa u srijedu navečer, isporučujući pomoć bez kontakta s ljudima nakon što je među posadom zabilježeno dvadesetak slučajeva covida-19.

Radio Broadcom Broadcasting citirao je ministra zdravstva Tonge Saia Piukala koji je rekao da je na brodu HMAS Adelaide prijavljeno 29 pozitivnih slučajeva, ali ni jedan zaraženi nema simptoma.

"Brod će pristati i neće biti nikakvih kontakata", rekao je Piukala. "Australci s broda iskrcat će svoj teret i isploviti iz luke."

Ujedinjeni narodi, Crveni križ i druge humanitarne agencije na terenu u Tongi upozorile su da bi epidemija covida-19 na otoku u ovom trenutku bila katastrofalna.

Erupcija vulkana Hunga Tonga-Hunga Ha'apai izazvala je cunami koji je uništio sela i resorte te prekinuo komunikaciju u državi od oko 105.000 ljudi. Prijavljeno je da su tri osobe smrtno stradale, priopćile su vlasti.

Humanitarna pomoć Tongi povećava se nakon što je zračna luka očišćena od pepela, te je sigurna za slijetanje zrakoplova, priopćio je Crveni križ u srijedu, desetak dana nakon vulkanske erupcije i cunamija koji su opustošili južnopacifički arhipelag.

Međunarodna federacija društava Crvenog križa i Crvenog polumjeseca (IFRC) priopćila je da s dodatnim zalihama njezino osoblje i volonteri pojačavaju isporuku pitke vode i postavljaju skloništa na brojnim otocima u zemlji.

"Ova katastrofa potresla je narod Tonge kao ništa dosad", rekla je Sione Taumoefolau, glavna tajnica Crvenog križa Tonge u priopćenju. "Cunami je izbrisao kuće i sela, ali mi se već obnavljamo usred pepela".
