Val jezivog nasilja stigao je do Ekvadora.

Prošlog su tjedna tako narko gangsteri oteli desetke policajaca i zatvorskih službenika, zloglasni kralj trgovine ljudima povezan s eskalirajućim ratom narkobandi u Ekvadoru pobjegao je iz zatvora, a banda je upala u jednu od glavnih televizijskih postaja i uživo u eteru držala voditelje na nišanu. Tamne kutke interneta preplavile su sablasne video snimke u kojima plaćene ubojice muče policajce, a zarobljene vojnike zlostavljaju članovi bandi.

U Ekvadoru se ne uzgoja koka, niti se konzumira posebno puno kokaina. No u Kolumbiji nikad nije proizvedeno toliko kokaina koliko prošle godine, a Ekvador je glavna tranzitna ruta prema SAD-u i Europi.

Daniel Noboa, 36-godišnji predsjednik te države, proglasio je izvanredno stanje i uveo policijski sat.

Kolumnist britanskog Telegrapha i savjetnik Odbora za trgovinu Ujedinjenog Kraljevstva Daniel Hannan vjeruje da bi cijela priča bila zastupljenija da postoji jedan zlikovac na koga bi mediji mogli uperiti prst.

- Privlače nas priče koje potvrđuju naše predrasude ili se uklapaju u naše zamišljene narative. Mediji bi više pažnje obratili na Ekvador kada bismo mogli okriviti socijalizam, neoliberalizam ili islamizam - piše Hannan.

Za užase u Ekvadoru Hannan krivi Zapad, odnosno njegove metode borbe protiv trgovine kokainom.

- Sve dok guramo kokain u nozdrve, a istovremeno zabranjujemo njegovu prodaju, u Latinskoj Americi stvaramo neizrecive strahote. Taj snježni prah tako do nas stiže vlažan od znoja djece radnika, prošaran krvlju obezglavljenih seljaka i zatrovan ekološkom katastrofom nastalom u nama dalekim prašumama.

Hannan smatra da ćemo jednog dana kada kokain bude legalan, tj. kada bude u kategoriji viskija ili cigareta, na proteklih pet desetljeća gledati kao što danas gledamo na godine američke prohibicije.

Primjerice u Portugalu sve droge su dekriminalizirane od 2001.

Broj smrtnih slučajeva povezanih s drogom ostao je ispod prosjeka EU-a od 2001., a udio zatvorenika osuđenih zbog droga pao je s 40 na 15 posto. Stope upotrebe droga već dvadeset godina ispod su prosjeka EU.

- Umjesto da trošimo milijarde dolara na uništavanje bandi, zatvaranje dilera i paljenje kolumbijskih plantaža, mogli bismo trgovinu pretvoriti u značajan izvor poreznih prihoda, kao što je to slučaj s alkoholom ili duhanom - smatra Hannan.

Švicarski kanton Bern prvo je mjesto gdje se razmatra potpuna legalizacija kokaina.

Zagovornici promjene ističu da je kokain toliko raširen, a njegova cijena toliko je niska, smatraju, da je teško povjerovati kako će legalizacija dovesti do značajnijeg povećanja potražnje.

- Možda bi, ako bude dovoljno čvrst, predsjednik Noboa mogao smanjiti stope nasilje. No nitko neće moći riješiti problem sve dok zapadne zemlje nastavljaju voditi rat protiv droga. Kada je obrt nezakonit, njegovi praktikant ne pribjegavaju policiji ili sudovima pa svoje sporove rješavaju mecima - zaključio je Hannan.

Val jezivog nasilja stigao je do Ekvadora.

Prošlog su tjedna tako narko gangsteri oteli desetke policajaca i zatvorskih službenika, zloglasni kralj trgovine ljudima povezan s eskalirajućim ratom narkobandi u Ekvadoru pobjegao je iz zatvora, a banda je upala u jednu od glavnih televizijskih postaja i uživo u eteru držala voditelje na nišanu. Tamne kutke interneta preplavile su sablasne video snimke u kojima plaćene ubojice muče policajce, a zarobljene vojnike zlostavljaju članovi bandi.

U Ekvadoru se ne uzgoja koka, niti se konzumira posebno puno kokaina. No u Kolumbiji nikad nije proizvedeno toliko kokaina koliko prošle godine, a Ekvador je glavna tranzitna ruta prema SAD-u i Europi.

Daniel Noboa, 36-godišnji predsjednik te države, proglasio je izvanredno stanje i uveo policijski sat.

Kolumnist britanskog Telegrapha i savjetnik Odbora za trgovinu Ujedinjenog Kraljevstva Daniel Hannan vjeruje da bi cijela priča bila zastupljenija da postoji jedan zlikovac na koga bi mediji mogli uperiti prst.

- Privlače nas priče koje potvrđuju naše predrasude ili se uklapaju u naše zamišljene narative. Mediji bi više pažnje obratili na Ekvador kada bismo mogli okriviti socijalizam, neoliberalizam ili islamizam - piše Hannan.

Za užase u Ekvadoru Hannan krivi Zapad, odnosno njegove metode borbe protiv trgovine kokainom.

- Sve dok guramo kokain u nozdrve, a istovremeno zabranjujemo njegovu prodaju, u Latinskoj Americi stvaramo neizrecive strahote. Hannan smatra da ćemo jednog dana kada kokain bude legalan, tj. kada bude u kategoriji viskija ili cigareta, na proteklih pet desetljeća gledati kao što danas gledamo na godine američke prohibicije.

Primjerice u Portugalu sve droge su dekriminalizirane od 2001.

Broj smrtnih slučajeva povezanih s drogom ostao je ispod prosjeka EU-a od 2001., a udio zatvorenika osuđenih zbog droga pao je s 40 na 15 posto. Stope upotrebe droga već dvadeset godina ispod su prosjeka EU.

- Umjesto da trošimo milijarde dolara na uništavanje bandi, zatvaranje dilera i paljenje kolumbijskih plantaža, mogli bismo trgovinu pretvoriti u značajan izvor poreznih prihoda, kao što je to slučaj s alkoholom ili duhanom - smatra Hannan.

Švicarski kanton Bern prvo je mjesto gdje se razmatra potpuna legalizacija kokaina.

Zagovornici promjene ističu da je kokain toliko raširen, a njegova cijena toliko je niska, smatraju, da je teško povjerovati kako će legalizacija dovesti do značajnijeg povećanja potražnje.

- Možda bi, ako bude dovoljno čvrst, predsjednik Noboa mogao smanjiti stope nasilje. No nitko neće moći riješiti problem sve dok zapadne zemlje nastavljaju voditi rat protiv droga. Kada je obrt nezakonit, njegovi praktikant ne pribjegavaju policiji ili sudovima pa svoje sporove rješavaju mecima - zaključio je Hannan.

Rat za bijeli prah: šire se sablasne snimke mučenja zarobljenih vojnika i policajaca, mnogi za sve krive Zapad

Val jezivog nasilja stigao je do Ekvadora.

Prošlog su tjedna tako narko gangsteri oteli desetke policajaca i zatvorskih službenika, zloglasni kralj trgovine ljudima povezan s eskalirajućim ratom narkobandi u Ekvadoru pobjegao je iz zatvora, a banda je upala u jednu od glavnih televizijskih postaja i uživo u eteru držala voditelje na nišanu. Tamne kutke interneta preplavile su sablasne video snimke u kojima plaćene ubojice muče policajce, a zarobljene vojnike zlostavljaju članovi bandi.

U Ekvadoru se ne uzgoja koka, niti se konzumira posebno puno kokaina. No u Kolumbiji nikad nije proizvedeno toliko kokaina koliko prošle godine, a Ekvador je glavna tranzitna ruta prema SAD-u i Europi.

Daniel Noboa, 36-godišnji predsjednik te države, proglasio je izvanredno stanje i uveo policijski sat.

Kolumnist britanskog Telegrapha i savjetnik Odbora za trgovinu Ujedinjenog Kraljevstva Daniel Hannan vjeruje da bi cijela priča bila zastupljenija da postoji jedan zlikovac na koga bi mediji mogli uperiti prst.

- Privlače nas priče koje potvrđuju naše predrasude ili se uklapaju u naše zamišljene narative. Mediji bi više pažnje obratili na Ekvador kada bismo mogli okriviti socijalizam, neoliberalizam ili islamizam - piše Hannan.

Za užase u Ekvadoru Hannan krivi Zapad, odnosno njegove metode borbe protiv trgovine kokainom.

- Sve dok guramo kokain u nozdrve, a istovremeno zabranjujemo njegovu prodaju, u Latinskoj Americi stvaramo neizrecive strahote.
