Europska komisija poslala je pismo vladama Hrvatske i Slovenije u kojem ističe da je zainteresirana da Zagreb i Ljubljana nađu rješenje za svoj granični spor, te naglašava kako smatra da je arbitraža dobar put za to, potvrdio je u četvratak potpredsjednik Komisije Frans Timmermans.
"Predsjednik Komisije Jean-Claude Juncker i ja potpisali smo to pismo. Očito je da Komisija želi da zemlje članice riješe granični spor jer bi to olakšalo provedbu europskog zakonodavstva u svim zemljama članicama. Jasno je da je arbitraža dobar način za rješavanje toga spora", rekao je Timmermans, dodajući da bi ponovna uspostava arbitražnog procesa bila dobar znak.
"Međutim, ono što je najvažnije u ovom slučaju jest da dvije zemlje članice riješe to pitanje, to je u njihovu interesu i u interesu Unije kao cjeline", rekao je Timmermans.
On je izrazio nadu da će dvije zemlje riješiti taj spor i definirati gdje je granica između njih. Ponovio je da Komisija nije strana u postupku.
"Naš je interes da se granični spor između dviju zemalja članica riješi brzo na zadovoljstvo uključenih strana", rekao je Timmermans.
Hrvatski sabor je krajem srpnja jednoglasno izglasao izlazak iz Arbitražnog sporazuma o rješenju graničnog pitanja sa Slovenijom, nakon što je izbio skandal kada je otkriveno kako su se slovenski član arbitražnog suda Jernej Sokolec i slovenska diplomatkinja, opunomoćena predstavnica za praćenje arbitraže, Simona Drenik dogovarali o iznošenju argumenata i lobiranju kod drugih sudaca Stalnog arbitražnog suda u Haagu u postupku o granici između Slovenije i Hrvatske.
Jernej Sekolec dao je ostavku pošto se otkrilo da se dogovarao sa slovenskom zastupnicom pred sudom Simonom Drenik, a hrvatski član arbitražnog suda Budislav Vukas odstupio je nakon što se Hrvatska povukla iz takve kompromitirane arbitraže.
Prije nekoliko dana predsjednik suda Gilbert Guillaume imenovao je Norvežanina Rolfa Einara Fifea slovenskim predstavnikom u arbitraži, a Švicarca Nicolasa Michela hrvatskim članom.
Sud je odlučio imenovati suce nakon što Hrvatska i Slovenija nisu u zadanom roku predložile zamjene za hrvatskog i slovenskog arbitra Budislava Vukasa i Ronnya Abrahama, kojeg je slovenska strana prvotno imenovala nakon Sekolca, ali je i on potom ubrzo odstupio.

Europska komisija poslala je pismo vladama Hrvatske i Slovenije u kojem ističe da je zainteresirana da Zagreb i Ljubljana nađu rješenje za svoj granični spor, te naglašava kako smatra da je arbitraža dobar put za to, potvrdio je u četvratak potpredsjednik Komisije Frans Timmermans.
"Predsjednik Komisije Jean-Claude Juncker i ja potpisali smo to pismo. Očito je da Komisija želi da zemlje članice riješe granični spor jer bi to olakšalo provedbu europskog zakonodavstva u svim zemljama članicama. Jasno je da je arbitraža dobar način za rješavanje toga spora", rekao je Timmermans, dodajući da bi ponovna uspostava arbitražnog procesa bila dobar znak.
"Međutim, ono što je najvažnije u ovom slučaju jest da dvije zemlje članice riješe to pitanje, to je u njihovu interesu i u interesu Unije kao cjeline", rekao je Timmermans.
On je izrazio nadu da će dvije zemlje riješiti taj spor i definirati gdje je granica između njih. Ponovio je da Komisija nije strana u postupku.
"Naš je interes da se granični spor između dviju zemalja članica riješi brzo na zadovoljstvo uključenih strana", rekao je Timmermans.
Hrvatski sabor je krajem srpnja jednoglasno izglasao izlazak iz Arbitražnog sporazuma o rješenju graničnog pitanja sa Slovenijom, nakon što je izbio skandal kada je otkriveno kako su se slovenski član arbitražnog suda Jernej Sokolec i slovenska diplomatkinja, opunomoćena predstavnica za praćenje arbitraže, Simona Drenik dogovarali o iznošenju argumenata i lobiranju kod drugih sudaca Stalnog arbitražnog suda u Haagu u postupku o granici između Slovenije i Hrvatske.
Jernej Sekolec dao je ostavku pošto se otkrilo da se dogovarao sa slovenskom zastupnicom pred sudom Simonom Drenik, a hrvatski član arbitražnog suda Budislav Vukas odstupio je nakon što se Hrvatska povukla iz takve kompromitirane arbitraže.
Prije nekoliko dana predsjednik suda Gilbert Guillaume imenovao je Norvežanina Rolfa Einara Fifea slovenskim predstavnikom u arbitraži, a Švicarca Nicolasa Michela hrvatskim članom.
Sud je odlučio imenovati suce nakon što Hrvatska i Slovenija nisu u zadanom roku predložile zamjene za hrvatskog i slovenskog arbitra Budislava Vukasa i Ronnya Abrahama, kojeg je slovenska strana prvotno imenovala nakon Sekolca, ali je i on potom ubrzo odstupio.
