Kolaps Mosta Francisa Scotta Keyja na rijeci Patapsco u američkom gradu Baltimoreu oživio je rasprave o stanju tog objekta, ali i drugih mostova u Sjedinjenim Američkim Državama, piše novinar Oliver Milman u The Guardianu.

Iako se srušio nakon što je u utorak u njega udario poveći kontejnerski brod, još se uvijek ne zna je li za njegov kolaps kriv taj udarac ili neka strukturna greška, odnosno slabost. Dužnosnici su rekli da je brod izdao upozorenje nakon što je skrenuo s planiranog puta.

Nacionalno vijeće za sigurnost u prometu, nezavisna američka državna agencija koja istražuje prometne nesreće, poslat će svoje istražitelje u Baltimore kako bi otkrili uzrok nesreće, piše Jutarnji list.

Guverner američke savezne države Maryland Wes Moore rekao je da je most bio "u potpunosti usklađen s propisima". Istovremeno, neki su stručnjaci istaknuli da je njegov raspon, koji je kompletiran 1977. godine, zamišljen prije doba golemih kontejnerskih brodova.

Andrew Barr, građevinski stručnjak sa Sveučilišta u Sheffieldu u Engleskoj, rekao je da se na video snimci nesreće ne vidi da je most imao strukturnih slabosti, ali da Most Francis Scott Key nije dizajniran tako da može izdržati udar toliko velikog plovila.

Barr je dodao da izgleda kao da Most Francis Scott Key nema dodatnu zaštitu od udaraca brodova. Rizik od udaraca povećao se jer su se tijekom godina povećali i brodovi. Prosječni je kapacitet kontejnerskih brodova u zadnjih deset godina narastao za otprilike 50 posto.

Udruga američkih inženjera cestovnog prometa tvrdi da više od trećine svih mostova u SAD-u treba popraviti. Udruga je rekla da se situacija unazad nekoliko godina popravila, ali da se više od 43 tisuće mostova drži "strukturalno deficitarnima". To znači da bi se u budućnosti mogli srušiti.

"Katastrofa u Baltimoreu otkrila je koliko nenadane i ozbiljne nesreće, ali i sabotaže, mogu naštetiti američkoj ključnoj infrastrukturi", rekao je Rick Geddes, stručnjak za infrastrukturne politike na Sveučilištu Cornell u SAD-u. "Kada se radi o zastarjeloj infrastrukturi, svi bi trebali razmišljati o tome kako povećati njezinu otpornost. Poboljšana zaštita od sudara brodova i mostova svakako će postati važnija", dodao je Geddes.

Geddes je ustvrdio da na katastrofu u Baltimoreu treba gledati kao na priliku da se američka infrastruktura obnovi, ali na pametan način. To znači da se objekti trebaju obnavljati s pomoću novih materijala i dizajnerskih rješenja. Rekao je da u mostove treba ugraditi senzore koji će stalno komunicirati s brodovima.

Kada je predsjednik SAD-a Joe Biden 2021. godine potpisao 1,2 bilijuna dolara vrijedan zakon o infrastrukturi, rekao je da je to napravio i zato što su američki mostovi u lošem stanju. Dok se situacija ne poboljša, svi koji koriste američke mostove morat će pripaziti na njihovu sigurnost. The Guardian navodi da strukturalno deficitarne mostove svaki dan prijeđe 167 milijuna osoba.

Kolaps Mosta Francisa Scotta Keyja na rijeci Patapsco u američkom gradu Baltimoreu oživio je rasprave o stanju tog objekta, ali i drugih mostova u Sjedinjenim Američkim Državama, piše novinar Oliver Milman u The Guardianu.

Iako se srušio nakon što je u utorak u njega udario poveći kontejnerski brod, još se uvijek ne zna je li za njegov kolaps kriv taj udarac ili neka strukturna greška, odnosno slabost. Dužnosnici su rekli da je brod izdao upozorenje nakon što je skrenuo s planiranog puta.

Nacionalno vijeće za sigurnost u prometu, nezavisna američka državna agencija koja istražuje prometne nesreće, poslat će svoje istražitelje u Baltimore kako bi otkrili uzrok nesreće, piše Jutarnji list.

Guverner američke savezne države Maryland Wes Moore rekao je da je most bio "u potpunosti usklađen s propisima". Istovremeno, neki su stručnjaci istaknuli da je njegov raspon, koji je kompletiran 1977. godine, zamišljen prije doba golemih kontejnerskih brodova.

Andrew Barr, građevinski stručnjak sa Sveučilišta u Sheffieldu u Engleskoj, rekao je da se na video snimci nesreće ne vidi da je most imao strukturnih slabosti, ali da Most Francis Scott Key nije dizajniran tako da može izdržati udar toliko velikog plovila.

Barr je dodao da izgleda kao da Most Francis Scott Key nema dodatnu zaštitu od udaraca brodova. Rizik od udaraca povećao se jer su se tijekom godina povećali i brodovi. Prosječni je kapacitet kontejnerskih brodova u zadnjih deset godina narastao za otprilike 50 posto.

"Katastrofa u Baltimoreu otkrila je koliko nenadane i ozbiljne nesreće, ali i sabotaže, mogu naštetiti američkoj ključnoj infrastrukturi", rekao je Rick Geddes, stručnjak za infrastrukturne politike na Sveučilištu Cornell u SAD-u. "Kada se radi o zastarjeloj infrastrukturi, svi bi trebali razmišljati o tome kako povećati njezinu otpornost. Poboljšana zaštita od sudara brodova i mostova svakako će postati važnija", dodao je Geddes.

Geddes je ustvrdio da na katastrofu u Baltimoreu treba gledati kao na priliku da se američka infrastruktura obnovi, ali na pametan način. To znači da se objekti trebaju obnavljati s pomoću novih materijala i dizajnerskih rješenja. Rekao je da u mostove treba ugraditi senzore koji će stalno komunicirati s brodovima.

Kada je predsjednik SAD-a Joe Biden 2021. godine potpisao 1,2 bilijuna dolara vrijedan zakon o infrastrukturi, rekao je da je to napravio i zato što su američki mostovi u lošem stanju. Dok se situacija ne poboljša, svi koji koriste američke mostove morat će pripaziti na njihovu sigurnost. The Guardian navodi da strukturalno deficitarne mostove svaki dan prijeđe 167 milijuna osoba.
