U Kliničkoj bolnici sestara milosrdnica u petak je, prvi put u Hrvatskoj, obavljena neurokirurška operacija u liječenju epilepsije. Operaciji je podvrgnut 48-godišnji pacijent koji od epilepsije boluje od pete godine života, a koji je, unatoč lijekovima, posljednjih 15 godina imao učestale epileptičke napadaje.

Operaciju je izveo jedan od najvećih stručnjaka u tom području i predstojnik bonnske Klinike za neurokirurgiju prof. dr. Johannes Schramm, koji je u Zagrebu boravio na Međunarodnom simpoziju iz epilepsije. Ravnatelj Vinogradske bolnice i predstojnik Klinike na neurokirurgiju prof. dr. Krešimir Rotim kazao je kako je operacija protekla u najboljem redu te kako je pacijent dobro.

Uspješnost 80 posto

Operativni zahvat primjenjuje se kod bolesnika koji su postali rezistentni na lijekove te imaju učestale epileptičke napade koji ih onemogućavaju u svakodnevnom životu.

Prof. Schramm, čiji centar spada među tri vodeća svjetska centra za operacijsko liječenje epilepsije, primjenjuje operativnu metodu kojom se otvara sljepoočni režanj mozga te ulazi duboko u njegovo područje i odstranjuje dio veličine 1 do 1,5 centimetra, tzv. hipokampus, koji je najčešće žarište epilepsije.

Schramm je dodao kako se na njegovoj klinici godišnje izvede stotinjak operacija, te da je smrtnost kod ukupno izvedenih 2500 zahvata iznosila samo 0,016 posto. Dodao je kako su dosadašnja iskustva pokazala da između 70 i 80 posto operiranih bolesnika ostaje bez epileptičkih napada, te da se kod ostalih oni znatno smanjuju.

Ubuduće će u Vinogradskoj bolnici takve operacije izvoditi tim hrvatskih liječnika predvođenih Tomislavom Sajkom koji je, nakon jednogodišnje edukacije u Bonnu, postao prvi neurokirurg u Hrvatskoj obučen za takve zahvate.

- Očekujemo da će tim u prvoj godini obaviti desetak operacija, a poslije toga između 20 i 30 zahvata godišnje - rekao je dr. Rotim na konferenciji za novinare.

Procjenjuje se kako od epilepsije u Hrvatskoj boluje oko jedan posto populacije, a njih oko 30 posto (oko 15.000), unatoč lijekovima, ima epileptičke napade.

Prijeoperacijska obrada pacijenata radit će se u Centru za epilepsije “Zagreb”, koji djeluje u sklopu neurološke klinike u Vinogradskoj, a koji je opremljen video EEG-om, takozvanim zlatnim standardom u prijeoperacijskoj obradi pacijenata. Operaciju, koja stoji oko 11 tisuća eura, u cijelosti će plaćati Hrvatski zavod za zdravstveno osiguranje.

U Kliničkoj bolnici sestara milosrdnica u petak je, prvi put u Hrvatskoj, obavljena neurokirurška operacija u liječenju epilepsije. Operaciji je podvrgnut 48-godišnji pacijent koji od epilepsije boluje od pete godine života, a koji je, unatoč lijekovima, posljednjih 15 godina imao učestale epileptičke napadaje.

Operaciju je izveo jedan od najvećih stručnjaka u tom području i predstojnik bonnske Klinike za neurokirurgiju prof. dr. Johannes Schramm, koji je u Zagrebu boravio na Međunarodnom simpoziju iz epilepsije. Ravnatelj Vinogradske bolnice i predstojnik Klinike na neurokirurgiju prof. dr. Krešimir Rotim kazao je kako je operacija protekla u najboljem redu te kako je pacijent dobro.

Uspješnost 80 posto

Operativni zahvat primjenjuje se kod bolesnika koji su postali rezistentni na lijekove te imaju učestale epileptičke napade koji ih onemogućavaju u svakodnevnom životu.

Prof. Schramm, čiji centar spada među tri vodeća svjetska centra za operacijsko liječenje epilepsije, primjenjuje operativnu metodu kojom se otvara sljepoočni režanj mozga te ulazi duboko u njegovo područje i odstranjuje dio veličine 1 do 1,5 centimetra, tzv. hipokampus, koji je najčešće žarište epilepsije.

Schramm je dodao kako se na njegovoj klinici godišnje izvede stotinjak operacija, te da je smrtnost kod ukupno izvedenih 2500 zahvata iznosila samo 0,016 posto. Dodao je kako su dosadašnja iskustva pokazala da između 70 i 80 posto operiranih bolesnika ostaje bez epileptičkih napada, te da se kod ostalih oni znatno smanjuju.

Ubuduće će u Vinogradskoj bolnici takve operacije izvoditi tim hrvatskih liječnika predvođenih Tomislavom Sajkom koji je, nakon jednogodišnje edukacije u Bonnu, postao prvi neurokirurg u Hrvatskoj obučen za takve zahvate.

- Očekujemo da će tim u prvoj godini obaviti desetak operacija, a poslije toga između 20 i 30 zahvata godišnje - rekao je dr. Rotim na konferenciji za novinare.

Procjenjuje se kako od epilepsije u Hrvatskoj boluje oko jedan posto populacije, a njih oko 30 posto (oko 15.000), unatoč lijekovima, ima epileptičke napade.

Prijeoperacijska obrada pacijenata radit će se u Centru za epilepsije “Zagreb”, koji djeluje u sklopu neurološke klinike u Vinogradskoj, a koji je opremljen video EEG-om, takozvanim zlatnim standardom u prijeoperacijskoj obradi pacijenata. Operaciju, koja stoji oko 11 tisuća eura, u cijelosti će plaćati Hrvatski zavod za zdravstveno osiguranje.
