Olimpijske kvalifikacije za maraton i brzo hodanje mogu početi prvog rujna, tri mjeseca ranije nego što je prethodno najavljeno, objavila je Međunarodna atletska federacija (World Atletics).

Međutim, kvalifikacije za sve ostale atletske discipline koje će biti na programu OI u Tokiju iduće godine, su suspendirane do 30. studenog kako je i prvotno planirano.

Predsjednik World Athletics Sebastian Coe istaknuo je kako je za maratonce i brze hodače došlo do promjene zbog njihovog malog broj prilika za vađenje vize za OI.

- Većina glavnih maratona već je otkazana ili odgođena za ostatak ove godine, a razvoj pandemije otežava predviđanje hoće li oni koji su predviđeni za prvu polovicu sljedeće godine biti organizirani - rekao je Coe.

- Ta situacija, u kombinaciji s činjenicom da maratonci i brzi hodači mogu proizvesti samo vrlo ograničen broj visokokvalitetnih izvedbi godišnje, zaista bi suzili njihov kvalifikacijski okvir bez ove prilagodbe - dodao je predsjednik svjetske atletske federacije.

Olimpijske kvalifikacije za maraton i brzo hodanje mogu početi prvog rujna, tri mjeseca ranije nego što je prethodno najavljeno, objavila je Međunarodna atletska federacija (World Atletics).

Međutim, kvalifikacije za sve ostale atletske discipline koje će biti na programu OI u Tokiju iduće godine, su suspendirane do 30. studenog kako je i prvotno planirano.

Predsjednik World Athletics Sebastian Coe istaknuo je kako je za maratonce i brze hodače došlo do promjene zbog njihovog malog broj prilika za vađenje vize za OI.

- Većina glavnih maratona već je otkazana ili odgođena za ostatak ove godine, a razvoj pandemije otežava predviđanje hoće li oni koji su predviđeni za prvu polovicu sljedeće godine biti organizirani - rekao je Coe.

- Ta situacija, u kombinaciji s činjenicom da maratonci i brzi hodači mogu proizvesti samo vrlo ograničen broj visokokvalitetnih izvedbi godišnje, zaista bi suzili njihov kvalifikacijski okvir bez ove prilagodbe - dodao je predsjednik svjetske atletske federacije.

Olimpijske kvalifikacije za maraton i brzo hodanje mogu početi prvog rujna, tri mjeseca ranije nego što je prethodno najavljeno, objavila je Međunarodna atletska federacija (World Atletics).

Međutim, kvalifikacije za sve ostale atletske discipline koje će biti na programu OI u Tokiju iduće godine, su suspendirane do 30. studenog kako je i prvotno planirano.

Predsjednik World Athletics Sebastian Coe istaknuo je kako je za maratonce i brze hodače došlo do promjene zbog njihovog malog broj prilika za vađenje vize za OI.

- Većina glavnih maratona već je otkazana ili odgođena za ostatak ove godine, a razvoj pandemije otežava predviđanje hoće li oni koji su predviđeni za prvu polovicu sljedeće godine biti organizirani - rekao je Coe.
