Poput većine Napolitanaca, taksist Gianmarco na vjetrobranskom staklu ima sliku sveca zaštitnika grada - svetog Januarija.

"Bez njegove zaštite, naši životi bi gotovo bili nezamislivi”, kaže Gianmarco, vozeći automobil uz napuljsku rivu, odakle se pruža veličanstven pogled na brdoviti grad, njegove dvorce i tamnoplavi Napuljski zaljev.

Napolitanci štuju svoga sveca zaštitnika koji je umro mučeničkom smrću 305. godine. Vjeruje se da je sveti Januarije uslišao molitve ljudi 1631., zaustavio erupciju Vezuva i time spasio Napulj od uništenja.

Pošto im je grad tik do Vezuva, "Napolitanci oduvijek smatrali da je svetac koji ih može zaštititi od vulkanskog gnjeva prijeko potreban za opstanak”, tvrdi povjesničar Gianni Russo.

Vjera i praznovjerje blisko su povezane u južnotalijanskom gradu. Russo na svom privjesku za ključeve pokazuje cornicello, mali crveni rog, koji ga, kaže, štiti od nesreće.

Napolitanci, tradicionalno pobožni katolici, oduvijek su štovali mnoge svece zaštitnike. Sveti Januarije, međutim, odnedavno ima ozbiljnu konkurenciju. Diega Maradonu.

Legendarni argentinski nogometaš je od smrti 2020. u dobi od 60 godina zapravo postao novi gradski svetac, zahvaljujući tome što je nogometni klub SSC Napoli s njim na čelu dvaput osvojio talijansko prvenstvo. I poslije nikad više. 

Maradonin lik može se pronaći posvuda u Napullju, na zidovima, svjetiljkama i vratima u gotovo svakoj ulici.

U ulici San Gregorio Armeno, u srcu starog grada, mogu se kupiti Diegove figurice u svim mogućim veličinama, nerijetko i s anđeoskim krilima. 

"Nitko ne spaja sveto i vulgarno tako lako kao mi Napolitanci. Napulj i Maradona, to je posebna vrsta ljubavne priče”, kaže Russo.

Nedaleko je bar Nilo koji Maradonin kult podiže na sasvim novu razinu jer u zaštitnoj vitrini ima uvojak nogometaševe kose. 

Vlasnik lokala Bruno Alcidi navodno je sjedio iza Maradone u zrakoplovu nakon gostovanja u Milanu. Na naslonu za glavu ispred sebe, pronašao je mali pramen kose svog idola. Ponio ga je sa sobom, spremivši ga na sigurno u kutiju za cigarete.

Alcidi je u Napulju zatim izradio svoj privatni oltar s „capello miracoloso die Maradona”, čudesnom kosom nogometaša, koja je izložena pored fotografija i kipa Djevice Marije.

Maradonini će obožavatelji u blizini Alcidijeva bara pronaći i drugo hodočasničko odredište, do kojeg se doduše moraju uspeti strmim i uskim ulicama Quartierije Spagnole, španjolske četvrti.

Nasuprot pivnice Bodega de Dios nalazi se suvremeni Maradonin hram na otvorenom, gdje je i golemi mural s njegovim likom. Obožavatelji se ondje okupljaju svake večeri.

Na trgu nasuprot pivnice mogu se pronaći dresovi i drugi religijski suveniri. Susi Bostik, kći vlasnika pivnice, ponosna je na nogometnu zvijezdu.

"Vratio je dostojanstvo našem gradu i siromašnom jugu Italije. Zbog Maradone više nemamo kompleks manje vrijednosti prema sjeveru”, govori Bostik. Maradona je izazvao i promjene na lokalnoj razini.

"U prošlosti, nitko se izvana nikada nije usudio doći ovamo, no sada je naše susjedstvo sigurno”, dodaje Bostik.

Poput većine Napolitanaca, taksist Gianmarco na vjetrobranskom staklu ima sliku sveca zaštitnika grada - svetog Januarija.

"Bez njegove zaštite, naši životi bi gotovo bili nezamislivi”, kaže Gianmarco, vozeći automobil uz napuljsku rivu, odakle se pruža veličanstven pogled na brdoviti grad, njegove dvorce i tamnoplavi Napuljski zaljev.

Napolitanci štuju svoga sveca zaštitnika koji je umro mučeničkom smrću 305. godine. Vjeruje se da je sveti Januarije uslišao molitve ljudi 1631., zaustavio erupciju Vezuva i time spasio Napulj od uništenja.

Pošto im je grad tik do Vezuva, "Napolitanci oduvijek smatrali da je svetac koji ih može zaštititi od vulkanskog gnjeva prijeko potreban za opstanak”, tvrdi povjesničar Gianni Russo.

Vjera i praznovjerje blisko su povezane u južnotalijanskom gradu. Russo na svom privjesku za ključeve pokazuje cornicello, mali crveni rog, koji ga, kaže, štiti od nesreće.

Napolitanci, tradicionalno pobožni katolici, oduvijek su štovali mnoge svece zaštitnike. Sveti Januarije, međutim, odnedavno ima ozbiljnu konkurenciju. Diega Maradonu.

Legendarni argentinski nogometaš je od smrti 2020. u dobi od 60 godina zapravo postao novi gradski svetac, zahvaljujući tome što je nogometni klub SSC Napoli s njim na čelu dvaput osvojio talijansko prvenstvo. I poslije nikad više. 

Maradonin lik može se pronaći posvuda u Napullju, na zidovima, svjetiljkama i vratima u gotovo svakoj ulici.

U ulici San Gregorio Armeno, u srcu starog grada, mogu se kupiti Diegove figurice u svim mogućim veličinama, nerijetko i s anđeoskim krilima. 

"Nitko ne spaja sveto i vulgarno tako lako kao mi Napolitanci. Napulj i Maradona, to je posebna vrsta ljubavne priče”, kaže Russo.

Nedaleko je bar Nilo koji Maradonin kult podiže na sasvim novu razinu jer u zaštitnoj vitrini ima uvojak nogometaševe kose. 

Vlasnik lokala Bruno Alcidi navodno je sjedio iza Maradone u zrakoplovu nakon gostovanja u Milanu. Na naslonu za glavu ispred sebe, pronašao je mali pramen kose svog idola. Ponio ga je sa sobom, spremivši ga na sigurno u kutiju za cigarete.

Alcidi je u Napulju zatim izradio svoj privatni oltar s „capello miracoloso die Maradona”, čudesnom kosom nogometaša, koja je izložena pored fotografija i kipa Djevice Marije.

Maradonini će obožavatelji u blizini Alcidijeva bara pronaći i drugo hodočasničko odredište, do kojeg se doduše moraju uspeti strmim i uskim ulicama Quartierije Spagnole, španjolske četvrti.

Nasuprot pivnice Bodega de Dios nalazi se suvremeni Maradonin hram na otvorenom, gdje je i golemi mural s njegovim likom. Obožavatelji se ondje okupljaju svake večeri.

Na trgu nasuprot pivnice mogu se pronaći dresovi i drugi religijski suveniri. Susi Bostik, kći vlasnika pivnice, ponosna je na nogometnu zvijezdu.

"Vratio je dostojanstvo našem gradu i siromašnom jugu Italije. Zbog Maradone više nemamo kompleks manje vrijednosti prema sjeveru”, govori Bostik. Maradona je izazvao i promjene na lokalnoj razini.

"U prošlosti, nitko se izvana nikada nije usudio doći ovamo, no sada je naše susjedstvo sigurno”, dodaje Bostik.

Poput većine Napolitanaca, taksist Gianmarco na vjetrobranskom staklu ima sliku sveca zaštitnika grada - svetog Januarija.

"Bez njegove zaštite, naši životi bi gotovo bili nezamislivi”, kaže Gianmarco, vozeći automobil uz napuljsku rivu, odakle se pruža veličanstven pogled na brdoviti grad, njegove dvorce i tamnoplavi Napuljski zaljev.

Napolitanci štuju svoga sveca zaštitnika koji je umro mučeničkom smrću 305. godine. Vjeruje se da je sveti Januarije uslišao molitve ljudi 1631., zaustavio erupciju Vezuva i time spasio Napulj od uništenja.

Pošto im je grad tik do Vezuva, "Napolitanci oduvijek smatrali da je svetac koji ih može zaštititi od vulkanskog gnjeva prijeko potreban za opstanak”, tvrdi povjesničar Gianni Russo.
