Određene doze aspirina mogu spriječiti oštećenja jetre bilo da su izazvana paracetamolom ili prekomjernim pijenjem alkohola, izvijestili su znanstvenici sa Sveučilišta Yale.

Pokusi provedeni na miševima pokazali su da aspirin može smanjiti njihovu smrtnost kod predoziranja paracetamolom.

Posljednjih godina u Velikoj Britaniji se povećao broj oboljelih od ciroze jetre, posebno kod ljudi koji pretjerano piju alkohol te kod onih koji namjerno ili nenamjerno uživaju velike količine paracetamola.

Zbog toga na otoku svake godine umre više od stotinu ljudi. Znanstvenici su uvjereni da aspirin blokira kemijski receptor u stanicama jetre, a upravo on izaziva upale jetre zbog prekomjernog alkohola ili paracetamola.

Dr. Wajahat Mehal, koji je vodio istraživanje, tvrdi da jetru jednako oštećuju droga i alkohol, ali da su oni sada našli dva načina da zaustave receptore odgovorne za ta oštećenja.

- Naša strategija je svakodnevna upotreba aspirina. Na taj način možemo smanjiti neugodne i jake bolove svima onima koji trpe zbog oštećenja jetre - kazao je Mehal.

Određene doze aspirina mogu spriječiti oštećenja jetre bilo da su izazvana paracetamolom ili prekomjernim pijenjem alkohola, izvijestili su znanstvenici sa Sveučilišta Yale.

Pokusi provedeni na miševima pokazali su da aspirin može smanjiti njihovu smrtnost kod predoziranja paracetamolom.

Posljednjih godina u Velikoj Britaniji se povećao broj oboljelih od ciroze jetre, posebno kod ljudi koji pretjerano piju alkohol te kod onih koji namjerno ili nenamjerno uživaju velike količine paracetamola.

Zbog toga na otoku svake godine umre više od stotinu ljudi. Znanstvenici su uvjereni da aspirin blokira kemijski receptor u stanicama jetre, a upravo on izaziva upale jetre zbog prekomjernog alkohola ili paracetamola.

Dr. Wajahat Mehal, koji je vodio istraživanje, tvrdi da jetru jednako oštećuju droga i alkohol, ali da su oni sada našli dva načina da zaustave receptore odgovorne za ta oštećenja.

- Naša strategija je svakodnevna upotreba aspirina. Na taj način možemo smanjiti neugodne i jake bolove svima onima koji trpe zbog oštećenja jetre - kazao je Mehal.
