Podaci prikupljani skoro deset godina širom Singapura ukazuju na to da povećane koncentracije sithin čestica u zraku mogu izazvati srčane zastoje, čineći potrebu za smanjenjem razine zagađenja zraka širom svijeta još hitnijom.

Istraživači su tražili čestice poznate kao PM 2,5 čestice (prečnika 2,5 mikrometara). Njihova veličina znači da se lako mogu udahnuti, a povezuju se s nizom zdravstvenih problema, uključujući autoimune bolesti, piše Science alert.

Praćen je odnos razine zagađenja u Singapuru i više od 18.000 prijavljenih slučajeva izvanbolničkog srčanog zastoja (OHCA) između srpnja 2010. i prosinca 2018. Statističkom analizom, 492 slučaja se može pripisati povećanju koncentracije PM 2,5.

„Pronašli smo jasne dokaze o kratkotrajnoj povezanosti PM 2,5 s izvanbolničkim zastojem srca, što je katastrofalan događaj koji često rezultira iznenadnom smrću“, kaže epidemiolog Joel Aik, s Medicinskog fakulteta Duke–NUS. na Nacionalnom sveučilištu u Singapuru, prenosi N1.

Ovo je opservacijska studija, što znači da možemo samo nagađati o odnosu između razine zagađenja i srčanih zastoja. Ne može se pretpostaviti da mjerenja zagađenja zraka provedena na stanicama za kvalitetu zraka odražavaju individualnu izloženost.

Međutim, u podacima ima dovoljno da se ukaže da je to veza vrijedna daljeg istraživanja. Podaci su pokazali da su dnevne koncentracije PM 2,5 u prosjeku bile 18,44 mikrograma po kubnom metru.

Testirajući hipotetičko smanjenje zagađenja zraka, istraživači su otkrili da je pad od jednog mikrograma po kubnom metru povezan sa smanjenjem srčanog udara od osam posto, dok je pad od tri mikrograma po kubnom metru imao smanjenje od 30 posto. Hipotetički, ta smanjenja predstavljaju 39 odnosno 149 srčanih udara manje.

Također je postojao jasan pad rizika od srčanog udara tri do pet dana nakon izlaganja višim razinama zagađenja, što ukazuje na to da su efekti kratkoročni. Istraživači kažu da bi čišćenje gradskog zraka moglo spasiti živote i smanjiti opterećenje bolnica.

„Ovi rezultati jasno pokazuju da bi napori da se smanje razine čestica zagađenja zraka u rasponu od 2,5 mikrograma ili niže, i koraci za zaštitu od izloženosti ovim česticama, mogli imati ulogu u smanjenju iznenadnih srčanih zastoja u populaciji Singapura, istovremeno smanjujući teret zdravstvenih usluga“, kaže Aik.

OHCA imaju tipičnu stopu preživljavanja od oko 10 posto, mnogo manje od šansi da se preživi srčani udar u bolnici. Dakle, nije pretjerivanje reći da smanjenje broja ovih slučajeva spašava živote. Možemo ga dodati na dugačku listu razloga zbog kojih bi trebalo pročistiti zrak.

Iako je ova veza primijećena i ranije, u gradovima kao što su New York i Melbourne u Australiji, rezultati nisu bili u skladu s podacima prikupljenim na drugim mjestima kao što je Danska.

Ove nedosljednosti obično nastaju pri koncentracijama zagađenja ispod vrijednosti smjernica za kvalitetu zraka Svjetske zdravstvene organizacije, ali istraživanja pokazuju da ne postoji „siguran“ nivo izloženosti za zdravlje srca stanovništva.

Ono što je jasno je da većina nas udiše zrak loše kvalitete, za koji se smatra da je odgovoran za milijune preranih smrti u urbanim i ruralnim područjima svake godine.

Tim koji stoji iza nove studije želi vidjeti da se više radi na kontroli kvalitete zraka na mjestima kao što je Singapur. Uz sve, od zagušenja u prometu do požara koji imaju ulogu, postoji mnogo mjesta za početak napredovanja, uključujući i zatvorene prostore.

„Ova studija pruža snažne dokaze o uticaju kvalitete zraka na zdravlje i trebala bi stimulirati napore politike i zemlje za upravljanje emisijama iz ključnih izvora koji mogu dovesti do povećanja PM 2,5 i sprečiti potencijalnu štetu po javno zdravlje“, kaže Marcus Ong, znanstvenik kliničar s Medicinskog fakulteta Duke–NUS.

On dodaje da bi nove političke intervencije, kao što je postupno ukidanje vozila s motorima s unutrašnjim sagorijevanjem, mogle pomoći da se smanje opasnosti.

Podaci prikupljani skoro deset godina širom Singapura ukazuju na to da povećane koncentracije sithin čestica u zraku mogu izazvati srčane zastoje, čineći potrebu za smanjenjem razine zagađenja zraka širom svijeta još hitnijom.

Istraživači su tražili čestice poznate kao PM 2,5 čestice (prečnika 2,5 mikrometara). Njihova veličina znači da se lako mogu udahnuti, a povezuju se s nizom zdravstvenih problema, uključujući autoimune bolesti, piše Science alert.

Praćen je odnos razine zagađenja u Singapuru i više od 18.000 prijavljenih slučajeva izvanbolničkog srčanog zastoja (OHCA) između srpnja 2010. i prosinca 2018. Statističkom analizom, 492 slučaja se može pripisati povećanju koncentracije PM 2,5.

„Pronašli smo jasne dokaze o kratkotrajnoj povezanosti PM 2,5 s izvanbolničkim zastojem srca, što je katastrofalan događaj koji često rezultira iznenadnom smrću“, kaže epidemiolog Joel Aik, s Medicinskog fakulteta Duke–NUS. na Nacionalnom sveučilištu u Singapuru, prenosi N1.

Ovo je opservacijska studija, što znači da možemo samo nagađati o odnosu između razine zagađenja i srčanih zastoja. Ne može se pretpostaviti da mjerenja zagađenja zraka provedena na stanicama za kvalitetu zraka odražavaju individualnu izloženost.

Međutim, u podacima ima dovoljno da se ukaže da je to veza vrijedna daljeg istraživanja. Podaci su pokazali da su dnevne koncentracije PM 2,5 u prosjeku bile 18,44 mikrograma po kubnom metru.

Testirajući hipotetičko smanjenje zagađenja zraka, istraživači su otkrili da je pad od jednog mikrograma po kubnom metru povezan sa smanjenjem srčanog udara od osam posto, dok je pad od tri mikrograma po kubnom metru imao smanjenje od 30 posto. Hipotetički, ta smanjenja predstavljaju 39 odnosno 149 srčanih udara manje.

Također je postojao jasan pad rizika od srčanog udara tri do pet dana nakon izlaganja višim razinama zagađenja, što ukazuje na to da su efekti kratkoročni. Istraživači kažu da bi čišćenje gradskog zraka moglo spasiti živote i smanjiti opterećenje bolnica.

„Ovi rezultati jasno pokazuju da bi napori da se smanje razine čestica zagađenja zraka u rasponu od 2,5 mikrograma ili niže, i koraci za zaštitu od izloženosti ovim česticama, mogli imati ulogu u smanjenju iznenadnih srčanih zastoja u populaciji Singapura, istovremeno smanjujući teret zdravstvenih usluga“, kaže Aik.

OHCA imaju tipičnu stopu preživljavanja od oko 10 posto, mnogo manje od šansi da se preživi srčani udar u bolnici. Dakle, nije pretjerivanje reći da smanjenje broja ovih slučajeva spašava živote. Možemo ga dodati na dugačku listu razloga zbog kojih bi trebalo pročistiti zrak.

Iako je ova veza primijećena i ranije, u gradovima kao što su New York i Melbourne u Australiji, rezultati nisu bili u skladu s podacima prikupljenim na drugim mjestima kao što je Danska.

Ove nedosljednosti obično nastaju pri koncentracijama zagađenja ispod vrijednosti smjernica za kvalitetu zraka Svjetske zdravstvene organizacije, ali istraživanja pokazuju da ne postoji „siguran“ nivo izloženosti za zdravlje srca stanovništva.

Ono što je jasno je da većina nas udiše zrak loše kvalitete, za koji se smatra da je odgovoran za milijune preranih smrti u urbanim i ruralnim područjima svake godine.

Tim koji stoji iza nove studije želi vidjeti da se više radi na kontroli kvalitete zraka na mjestima kao što je Singapur. Uz sve, od zagušenja u prometu do požara koji imaju ulogu, postoji mnogo mjesta za početak napredovanja, uključujući i zatvorene prostore.

„Ova studija pruža snažne dokaze o uticaju kvalitete zraka na zdravlje i trebala bi stimulirati napore politike i zemlje za upravljanje emisijama iz ključnih izvora koji mogu dovesti do povećanja PM 2,5 i sprečiti potencijalnu štetu po javno zdravlje“, kaže Marcus Ong, znanstvenik kliničar s Medicinskog fakulteta Duke–NUS.

On dodaje da bi nove političke intervencije, kao što je postupno ukidanje vozila s motorima s unutrašnjim sagorijevanjem, mogle pomoći da se smanje opasnosti.

Podaci prikupljani skoro deset godina širom Singapura ukazuju na to da povećane koncentracije sithin čestica u zraku mogu izazvati srčane zastoje, čineći potrebu za smanjenjem razine zagađenja zraka širom svijeta još hitnijom.

Istraživači su tražili čestice poznate kao PM 2,5 čestice (prečnika 2,5 mikrometara). Njihova veličina znači da se lako mogu udahnuti, a povezuju se s nizom zdravstvenih problema, uključujući autoimune bolesti, piše Science alert.

Praćen je odnos razine zagađenja u Singapuru i više od 18.000 prijavljenih slučajeva izvanbolničkog srčanog zastoja (OHCA) između srpnja 2010. i prosinca 2018. Statističkom analizom, 492 slučaja se može pripisati povećanju koncentracije PM 2,5.
