Jutros je u latvijskoj bolnici umro kontroverzni i nagrađivani južnokorejski filmaš Kim Ki-duk (r. 1960.), svega devet dana prije svog 60. rođendana. Redatelj se liječio od korone, ali preminuo uslijed komplikacija uzrokovanih virusom. Sinoć je bio u ozbiljnom stanju koje se, nažalost, nije popravilo i njegovu smrt je potvrdio dokumentarist Vitaly Mansky.

Tamo, u Latviju, Ki-duk je prebjegao iz Koreje, postavši "persona non grata" nakon optužbi za seksualno zlostavljanje od strane triju glumica. Umro je sam, usamljen i izgubljen u tuđoj zemlji, kamo je došao da ostavi prošlost iza sebe, pokuša snimiti novi "comeback" film "Rain, Snow, Cloud and Fog" i, lako moguće, pronaći nekakvo iskupljenje.

Redatelj je skončao kao da je grešni lik iz nekog njegovog filma, dobre, opore i nerijetko kontroverzne festivalske drame, režirane s većim osjećajem za vizualno pripovijedanje nego dijalog (studirao slikarstvo). Koreja će Ki-duka, čini se, isključivo pamti po #MeToo skandalu, premda je upravo on bio jedan od tri novovalna južnokorejska redatelja koji su početkom novog milenija postavili matičnu kinematografiju na filmsko-festivalsku kartu svijeta, od Venecije i Berlina do Cannesa.

Dok su Chan-wook Park ("Oldboy") i friški oskarovac ("Parazit) Joon-ho Bong ("Sjećanja na ubojstvo") operirali unutar žanrova, Ki-duk je bio punokrvni i beskompromisni art filmaš, jedan od najvećih južnokorejskih i azijskih, specijaliziran za mračne, teške, nasilne i šokantne filmove na koje je, voljeli ih ili ne, teško ostati ravnodušan.

Nakon što je, samouk, na scenu stupio 1996. s "Krokodilom", titulu izvrsnog, ali zloglasnog redatelja u ravni Larsa Von Triera i Gaspara Noea stekao je već 2000. s kultnim filmom "Otok" koji je dio publike na festivalu u Veneciji nagnao na povraćanje i padanje u nesvijest s prizorima poput udice u vagini i scenama ljudske okrutnosti (nad životinjama) i (samo)mučenja.

Nekoliko godina kasnije, 2003., Ki-duk je pokazao svoju nježiju stranu i snimio spiritualno remek-djelo "Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter... and Spring". S "Proljeće, ljeto, jesen, zima... i proljeće" upoznala ga je i hrvatska kinopublika na "Reviji azijskog filma" gdje je gostovao i s odličnom "Samaritankom", dok je STFF prikazao "Vrijeme".

Koliko je kreativan i produktivan u tom razodoblju bio, svjedoči podatak da je 2004. osvojio Srebrog medvjeda na Berinaleu za "Samaritan Girl" i Srebrnog lava na Veneciji za unisono hvaljeni "3-Iron", a narednih godina je gostovao u Cannesu s "The Bow", "Time" i nagrađenim dokumentarcem "Arirang".

"Samaritanka" i "Proljeće, ljeto, jesen, zima... i proljeće" idealni su filmovi za preslikavanje Ki-dukove poetike u začaranom krugu tjelesnog i duhovnog, života i smrti. Kršćanska žrtva i religijski podtonovi krase većinu njegovih filmova, uključujući i sjajnu "Pietu" s kojom je 2012. osvojio Zlatnog lava.

Ki-duk se, očito, suočavao sa samim sobom, tražio oprost i egzorcirao svoje demone, najdoslovnije u dokumentarcu "Arirang", iniciranom traumom zbog skorog stradavanja glumice u sceni vješanja na snimanju njegova filma "Dream".

Jutros je u latvijskoj bolnici umro kontroverzni i nagrađivani južnokorejski filmaš Kim Ki-duk (r. 1960.), svega devet dana prije svog 60. rođendana. Redatelj se liječio od korone, ali preminuo uslijed komplikacija uzrokovanih virusom. Sinoć je bio u ozbiljnom stanju koje se, nažalost, nije popravilo i njegovu smrt je potvrdio dokumentarist Vitaly Mansky.

Tamo, u Latviju, Ki-duk je prebjegao iz Koreje, postavši "persona non grata" nakon optužbi za seksualno zlostavljanje od strane triju glumica. Umro je sam, usamljen i izgubljen u tuđoj zemlji, kamo je došao da ostavi prošlost iza sebe, pokuša snimiti novi "comeback" film "Rain, Snow, Cloud and Fog" i, lako moguće, pronaći nekakvo iskupljenje.

Redatelj je skončao kao da je grešni lik iz nekog njegovog filma, dobre, opore i nerijetko kontroverzne festivalske drame, režirane s većim osjećajem za vizualno pripovijedanje nego dijalog (studirao slikarstvo). Koreja će Ki-duka, čini se, isključivo pamti po #MeToo skandalu, premda je upravo on bio jedan od tri novovalna južnokorejska redatelja koji su početkom novog milenija postavili matičnu kinematografiju na filmsko-festivalsku kartu svijeta, od Venecije i Berlina do Cannesa.

Dok su Chan-wook Park ("Oldboy") i friški oskarovac ("Parazit) Joon-ho Bong ("Sjećanja na ubojstvo") operirali unutar žanrova, Ki-duk je bio punokrvni i beskompromisni art filmaš, jedan od najvećih južnokorejskih i azijskih, specijaliziran za mračne, teške, nasilne i šokantne filmove na koje je, voljeli ih ili ne, teško ostati ravnodušan.

Nakon što je, samouk, na scenu stupio 1996. s "Krokodilom", titulu izvrsnog, ali zloglasnog redatelja u ravni Larsa Von Triera i Gaspara Noea stekao je već 2000. s kultnim filmom "Otok" koji je dio publike na festivalu u Veneciji nagnao na povraćanje i padanje u nesvijest s prizorima poput udice u vagini i scenama ljudske okrutnosti (nad životinjama) i (samo)mučenja.

Nekoliko godina kasnije, 2003., Ki-duk je pokazao svoju nježiju stranu i snimio spiritualno remek-djelo "Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter... and Spring". S "Proljeće, ljeto, jesen, zima... i proljeće" upoznala ga je i hrvatska kinopublika na "Reviji azijskog filma" gdje je gostovao i s odličnom "Samaritankom", dok je STFF prikazao "Vrijeme".

Koliko je kreativan i produktivan u tom razodoblju bio, svjedoči podatak da je 2004. osvojio Srebrog medvjeda na Berinaleu za "Samaritan Girl" i Srebrnog lava na Veneciji za unisono hvaljeni "3-Iron", a narednih godina je gostovao u Cannesu s "The Bow", "Time" i nagrađenim dokumentarcem "Arirang".

"Samaritanka" i "Proljeće, ljeto, jesen, zima... i proljeće" idealni su filmovi za preslikavanje Ki-dukove poetike u začaranom krugu tjelesnog i duhovnog, života i smrti. Kršćanska žrtva i religijski podtonovi krase većinu njegovih filmova, uključujući i sjajnu "Pietu" s kojom je 2012. osvojio Zlatnog lava.

Ki-duk se, očito, suočavao sa samim sobom, tražio oprost i egzorcirao svoje demone, najdoslovnije u dokumentarcu "Arirang", iniciranom traumom zbog skorog stradavanja glumice u sceni vješanja na snimanju njegova filma "Dream".
