Naslovni broj novog sjajnog albuma Josha Tillmana iliti Father Johna Mistyja možda će od njega otjerati indie-čistunce koje je mobilizirao nakon čudesnog “I Love You Honeybear” (i danas po meni najboljeg albuma 2015.).
Skladba sa svojim klavirom, nježnom melodijom i vokalom - a sve podsjeća na Eltona Johna iz najboljih vremena ili konkretno na “Your Song” - ima potencijal megahita za najširu publiku, što u pravilu zna razgnjeviti žanrovske puriste i indie klijentelu spremnu - baš kao i nekoć kad se amplificiorao Dylan - na krupne riječi poput “izdaja!”. No, draga gospodo, ne odustajite na prečac i poslušajte ovaj album pažljivo od početka do kraja.
Po mogućnosti - bez predrasuda. Jer u osnovi - po kvaliteti rukopisa i izvedbe - on je logičan nastavak “I Love You Honeybear” izveden tek malo drugačijim sredstvima. Uostalom, zar je Elton John neka bezvezna konfekcijska referencija a ne čvrsto uporište za mnoge singer-songwritere koje drže do sebe. Autor i pjevač čiji su albumi iz sedamdesetih, baš kao i recentniji projekti poput suradnje s danas blagopočivajućim Leonom Russellom, samo za najviše ocjene, za Tillmana se pokazao kao sjajan uzor pa je “Pure Comedy” sve samo ne komedija.
Štoviše, vrijedi ga shvatiti kao savršenu sponu između velikih singer-songwritera poznih šezdesetih i ranih sedamdesetih (naravno Eltona, Jacksona Browna, Jamesa Taylora, Jima Crocea, Dona McLeana... ali i Neila Younga iz vremena “On The Beach”) i novog doba. Uputa za potrošače stoga glasi: slušati bez predrasuda!

Naslovni broj novog sjajnog albuma Josha Tillmana iliti Father Johna Mistyja možda će od njega otjerati indie-čistunce koje je mobilizirao nakon čudesnog “I Love You Honeybear” (i danas po meni najboljeg albuma 2015.).
Skladba sa svojim klavirom, nježnom melodijom i vokalom - a sve podsjeća na Eltona Johna iz najboljih vremena ili konkretno na “Your Song” - ima potencijal megahita za najširu publiku, što u pravilu zna razgnjeviti žanrovske puriste i indie klijentelu spremnu - baš kao i nekoć kad se amplificiorao Dylan - na krupne riječi poput “izdaja!”. No, draga gospodo, ne odustajite na prečac i poslušajte ovaj album pažljivo od početka do kraja.
Po mogućnosti - bez predrasuda. Jer u osnovi - po kvaliteti rukopisa i izvedbe - on je logičan nastavak “I Love You Honeybear” izveden tek malo drugačijim sredstvima. Uostalom, zar je Elton John neka bezvezna konfekcijska referencija a ne čvrsto uporište za mnoge singer-songwritere koje drže do sebe. Autor i pjevač čiji su albumi iz sedamdesetih, baš kao i recentniji projekti poput suradnje s danas blagopočivajućim Leonom Russellom, samo za najviše ocjene, za Tillmana se pokazao kao sjajan uzor pa je “Pure Comedy” sve samo ne komedija.
Štoviše, vrijedi ga shvatiti kao savršenu sponu između velikih singer-songwritera poznih šezdesetih i ranih sedamdesetih (naravno Eltona, Jacksona Browna, Jamesa Taylora, Jima Crocea, Dona McLeana... ali i Neila Younga iz vremena “On The Beach”) i novog doba. Uputa za potrošače stoga glasi: slušati bez predrasuda!
