Strani humanitarci smjet će ući u deltu Irrawaddyja stradalu prije gotovo tri tjedna u ciklonu, a ne samo u Yangon, pristao je u petak čelnik mianmarske hunte Than Shwe na traženje Ujedinjenih naroda, a prenose agencije.

- General je rekao kako ne vidi razloga da ne bude tako... Samo ako je riječ o istinskim humanitarcima i ako bude jasno što će oni raditi - rekao je jedan mianmarski dužnosnik nakon sastanka glavnoga tajnika Ujedinjenih naroda Ban Ki-moona s vojnim čelnikom Mianmara Thanom Shweom u glavnome gradu Naypyidawu, a objavio je Associated Press.

Ban Ki-moon sastao se s Shweom u petak i uvjerio ga u nužnost dopuštanja pristupa međunarodnih organizacija stradalima od Nargisa. Smatra se da je stradalih oko dva i pol milijuna, javlja Reuters.

Ban je u u Naypyidaw, glavni grad Mianmara i mjesto u kojem je sjedište vladajuće vojne hunte doletio iz Yangona udaljenog više od 400 kilometara. U četvrtak je posjetio neka mjesta stradala u ciklonu.

Vojne vlasti službeno su objavile da je ciklon Nargis ubio oko 78 tisuća ljudi, a da se još ne zna sudbina njih 56 tisuća.

UN tvrdi da glad, beskućništvo i zaraze prijete preživjelima, njih oko dva i pol milijuna, osobito u nižim područjima delte Irrawaddyja, jer je pomoć dosad stigla samo do četvrtine njih.

Šef hunte Than Shwe kojemu je 76 godina, usamljenik je i veoma praznovjeran, na vlasti od 1992., a zbog tvrdoglavosti poznat i kao 'buldog', uporno je odbijao zahtjev Ban Ki-moona iz New Yorka da dopusti rad humanitarcima. Nakon sastanka pristao je, a režim pomalo ublažava ograničenja nametnuta strancima, javlja AP.

Dpa javlja kako se glavni tajnik UN-a u nedjelju vraća u Yangon gdje će predsjedati donatorskom konferencijom za Mianmar u organizaciji UN-a i organizacije zemalja jugoistočne Azije (ASEAN).

Prije toga će u petak navečer otići u Bangkok i u subotu razgovarati s premijerom Tajlanda Samakom Sundaravejem jer je Tajland kao istočni susjed Mianmara polazišna točka za dostavu humanitarne pomoći.

Mianmarske vlasti procjenjuju kako će im trebati oko 11 milijarda dolara za obnovu stradalih područja.

Strani humanitarci smjet će ući u deltu Irrawaddyja stradalu prije gotovo tri tjedna u ciklonu, a ne samo u Yangon, pristao je u petak čelnik mianmarske hunte Than Shwe na traženje Ujedinjenih naroda, a prenose agencije.

- General je rekao kako ne vidi razloga da ne bude tako... Samo ako je riječ o istinskim humanitarcima i ako bude jasno što će oni raditi - rekao je jedan mianmarski dužnosnik nakon sastanka glavnoga tajnika Ujedinjenih naroda Ban Ki-moona s vojnim čelnikom Mianmara Thanom Shweom u glavnome gradu Naypyidawu, a objavio je Associated Press.

Ban Ki-moon sastao se s Shweom u petak i uvjerio ga u nužnost dopuštanja pristupa međunarodnih organizacija stradalima od Nargisa. Smatra se da je stradalih oko dva i pol milijuna, javlja Reuters.

Ban je u u Naypyidaw, glavni grad Mianmara i mjesto u kojem je sjedište vladajuće vojne hunte doletio iz Yangona udaljenog više od 400 kilometara. U četvrtak je posjetio neka mjesta stradala u ciklonu.

Vojne vlasti službeno su objavile da je ciklon Nargis ubio oko 78 tisuća ljudi, a da se još ne zna sudbina njih 56 tisuća.

UN tvrdi da glad, beskućništvo i zaraze prijete preživjelima, njih oko dva i pol milijuna, osobito u nižim područjima delte Irrawaddyja, jer je pomoć dosad stigla samo do četvrtine njih.

Šef hunte Than Shwe kojemu je 76 godina, usamljenik je i veoma praznovjeran, na vlasti od 1992., a zbog tvrdoglavosti poznat i kao 'buldog', uporno je odbijao zahtjev Ban Ki-moona iz New Yorka da dopusti rad humanitarcima. Nakon sastanka pristao je, a režim pomalo ublažava ograničenja nametnuta strancima, javlja AP.

Dpa javlja kako se glavni tajnik UN-a u nedjelju vraća u Yangon gdje će predsjedati donatorskom konferencijom za Mianmar u organizaciji UN-a i organizacije zemalja jugoistočne Azije (ASEAN).

Prije toga će u petak navečer otići u Bangkok i u subotu razgovarati s premijerom Tajlanda Samakom Sundaravejem jer je Tajland kao istočni susjed Mianmara polazišna točka za dostavu humanitarne pomoći.

Mianmarske vlasti procjenjuju kako će im trebati oko 11 milijarda dolara za obnovu stradalih područja.
